Chapter 73 ~ Death to all
Chapter 73 ~ Death to all
ELLA
Different people lined up like fools, holding gowns I assumed were my dresses, but I couldn’t have been angrier.
The traitor moved around giving orders like she was managing a shop, and I couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it was.
What they didn’t know was that I had spent too much time surviving to be helpless now. All I needed were a few things to make a bomb that would take us all out.
I wasn’t going to live in a world where Adrian didn’t exist. My grief hadn’t struck me as hard as it should have, so I kept my mind occupied. If I stopped to think too much, I would fall apart, and then I wouldn’t get my revenge.
I didn’t know how they managed to kill a man who couldn’t be killed, but there must have been some kind of trick. From the moment I last saw him at the boutique, he had been unreachable. I should have called Luca, but it was too late to go back now.
“What do you think?” she asked like it was the most normal thing in the world.
“About what?” I responded flatly.
The bitch slapped me hard across the face, and the room fell silent. The sting was sharp, but I hit her back only mine was a punch that left her bleeding, her nose broken.
Motherfucker.
Those lessons and surviving debt from gangs had their advantages.
“You little ungrateful bitch!” she sneered, signaling her goons to hold me as she started hitting me.
I tasted blood as my lips split, but I was too far gone for the pain to matter. It felt almost liberating, a reminder that I was still alive.
A reminder that the man I loved had been taken from me, and what hurt the most was that I’d never told him how I felt, because I wasn’t sure of it myself.
The hits felt different after a while, and I realized a man had replaced her, pulling me out of my thoughts with each slap. It hurt, but not as much as my heart did.
When I looked around, everyone else was gone.
“That’s enough! Don’t injure her it’s her big day today,” came a voice I didn’t recognize.
My eye was swollen shut, but I didn’t care.
“I’m sorry my son left us,” the voice continued. “I knew your mother, and I wouldn’t do anything that wasn’t necessary.”
“Which son?” I asked, scanning him with my one blurry eye.
“I just said I knew your mother, and the news you choose to hear is about Adrian? The man who took you from your life and wanted to marry you for a business deal?”
“Can you bring him here so I can beat his ass?” I shot back.
He chuckled, like something about this was funny. “Not exactly, but I can take you to see his body before he’s buried. That will be my gift to say thank you,” he said, smiling as wrinkles deepened around his features.
Adrian’s father.
“You sick bastard, how can you do this to your own son?” I spat, unable to believe the twist. I knew men in the mafioso could be cold, but this was extreme.
Killing your own son for what?
“Is he even your son? Because your actions really say otherwise.” I asked, furious at his audacity to be proud of such a thing.
“Very sharp girl. No, he was not. My wife cheated with my brother but that’s for another day. We have a wedding to attend, and you look terrible. Don’t you need a doctor?” he asked sarcastically.
“You are a sick bastard! Over my dead body will I marry that son of a bitch!” I screamed, my voice raw with anger.
He didn't seem to like my opposition so he lunged forward and choked me, cutting off my air supply.
“Oh, but you will, my little girl. You wouldn’t want me to kill anyone on your special day now, would you?” he spat, squeezing my cheeks so hard with his fingers that I felt a muscle shift under my skin.
“We’re ready, Boss,” one of his goons shouted. He nodded and followed him out.
No amount of physical pain could match the ache in my chest as the realization hit me, it was possibly true that Adrian had been killed.
My master.
My captor.
My heart bled, and Lila’s betrayal was nothing compared to the emptiness hollowing me out.
They undressed me and slipped the black gown over my body, the one I had chosen because this day felt like a funeral.
A funeral where I intended to take the entire building down with me.
No one should live in a world where Adrian didn’t exist. I wanted him to show up, to choke me as he fucked me, to remind me I was his. If that couldn’t happen, why should I force myself to breathe another second?
“Oh, come on, Ella. It’s a beautiful day. Why don’t you smile a little?” Lila commented sarcastically as I threw her two middle fingers.
“Fuck you,” I cursed, and she smiled that sick smile that made me want to claw her face off.
“Oh, be nice. You asked me to be your maid of honor, and here I am, yet you’re swearing at me?” She touched her chest dramatically, and if not for my swollen eye,
I would have rolled them.
I chose not to respond. The minutes passed in a blur as I drifted into my head, building my plan piece by piece.
“Let’s go!” someone barked, giving me a light push toward the door. Just like that, I walked toward my death.
But I had no intention of being buried alone.
