Chapter 71 ~ A life I should have had
Chapter 71 ~ A life I should have had
LILA
She had it. Everything I wanted, she had gotten. When I showed the thugs her new location, I thought they would kill her, sell her parts, and give me my share. Instead, they auctioned her off, and when Adrian reached out to me, I was dumbfounded.
He should have been mine. I deserved him more than she did. She had it all, yet all she did was complain, not even offering me a decent sum of money. My heart had fluttered with a twisted mix of emotions as she shared the unexpected turns in her life.
My ears felt like they would bleed if I sat there listening to her whining any longer. I’d glared at Jay, who only mouthed, It wasn’t me.
The reservation in her eyes painted a picture of a whirlwind romance tangled with secrets, a world I should have been a part of.
This adventure with a man who had been both her savior and captor should have been mine. I couldn’t help but feel both angry and envious of the unpredictable story she had fallen into.
If I had known this was how it would turn out, I would have offered myself instead. But that didn’t matter anymore, because a better and more satisfying deal had come my way, and just seeing her miserable was going to be enough for me.
“So, why the rush? Are you both just madly in love?” I had asked, my tone casual while I fought the knots of jealousy twisting in my stomach.
Ella’s smile, though forced, carried a hint of mystery. “You could say that. Adrian has his reasons. You know how these things are.”
She was holding something back.
Greedy bitch.
Adrian Morreti, the hottest billionaire bachelor the kind we only dreamed about had chosen to storm into her life?
I highly doubted it. She was a conniving little bitch who must have tricked him somehow.
Jay had told me how Adrian had bought her and locked her up, and how she’d started throwing tantrums just to get on his good side.
Pathetic.
And pretty low for her. I had gone even lower by fucking the man who was assigned to watch her.
Like the little bitch he was, he had been wrapped around my finger. He believed that once this was over, I would run away with him. What he didn’t know was that when Adrian was killed, I would be the one marrying his father and ruling alongside him.
Women were always expected to stay out of mob business. I was going to change that.
The Moretti family seemed to possess the keys to a world I could only dream of, a world filled with danger, passion, and a type of love that felt like a distant fantasy. It hadn’t mattered which one I ended up with, as long as the one I was with would be the Don.
From the way Carlos had explained his plan, Adrian hadn’t stood a chance, and soon he would be dead.
As I had asked Ella questions, they had been fueled by a mix of genuine curiosity and the envy simmering inside me but most of all, they had been meant to buy enough time to keep her occupied.
What she hadn’t known was that, if she hadn’t come to me, I would have followed her to her house. The plan had been bound to succeed no matter what.
Ella’s answers had remained cryptic. “Come on, spill! You can’t keep your best friend in the dark. How did he propose? When’s the big day?”
Time had blurred as I started to lose interest. I’d decided it was better to take her while she was passed out. I had gotten up to make her a smoothie, spiking it to speed things up.
Like the fool she was, she had downed the whole cup in no time. She had made it so easy.
“Let’s take her to the car,” I had said, glancing at Jay.
“Can I just give you one last fuck before we go?” he had asked, walking toward me, his eyes darkening.
I couldn’t deny that he was a hot-looking guy and he fucked real good so I had agreed.
Without wasting time, I jumped into his arms. He had held me like I weighed nothing, pressing me against the wall and kissing me roughly in the way I liked.
“Oh, shit, I’ve missed your sweet lips,” he had groaned.
“I hate it when you talk. Fuck me already,” I moaned, throwing my head back.
He had carried me to the counter, yanked off my panties, and set me down. Because he was tall, his mouth had reached my pussy at the perfect angle, and he had licked me like a starved man.
“Yes!” I moaned. “Don’t stop!” I screamed, yanking a fistful of his hair.
He licked my inner thigh but avoided the spot I desperately wanted him to touch. My mind was foggy, and seeing Ella passed out on the couch had only made me wetter, seeing her so vulnerable.
Jay spread my thighs and flicked his tongue over my swollen bud, then sucked hard, driving me insane. I ripped his hair as I came undone.
“I want to be inside you,” he growled, standing and unzipping his trousers.
He rolled on a condom while looking me in the eyes. I’d been breathless, waiting for him to enter me and when he had, his thrusts were hard and fast. It had felt so good as we moved in sync.
This was my reward to him and my apology for the betrayal I was about to make him endure.
Because, like every other fool, he believed me when I told him I loved him, when in reality, they had all just been part of my plan to secure a new life.
As a Moretti Queen.
Once we had come together, we’d dressed and resumed the plan.
“I can’t wait to be inside you every day,” Jay said, and I rolled my eyes.
“Yes, baby, me too,” I replied, “but don’t forget you need to verify if Adrian is dead. Go to Luca and play dumb, like nothing was done, so we can gauge how much they know in case something goes wrong.”
“No problem,” he responded, like the whipped fool he was.
He helped me place Ella in the back seat, then walked to his car.
I smiled at him as he drove straight into the lion’s den without even knowing it.
