Chapter 31 Marriage Advice.

The woman before me was Mrs. Bowyer, I thought, and her eyes looked over my shoulder at Lola, who was standing behind me. The displeasure in Mrs. Bowyer's face instantly changed to anger, and her bright red nails dug into the door.

Mrs. Bowyer drew back her angry expression as she heard Catherland call her name from behind the door. She tried to force a smile on her face and said, "I think you must be Miss Emily, our queen is busy, and usually no one dares disturb her interest at this time, and if you have nothing important to do, I suggest you leave!"

"Tell the catherland I need to see her!" I said adamantly.

"Honey, don't you understand what I just said?" Lady Bower said in a warning tone, "no one dares disturb the Queen at this hour, ever!"

"Maybe I can just go in there, so don't bother nagging me here!" When I tried to break in, Mrs. Bowyer instantly blocked me with her rounded body.

"Fine, I'll tell the queen what you want, but until then, please be patient." Lady Bower whispered in my ear, "our heads will be on the wall at any moment if we upset the Queen, just wait!"

The door slammed, but I could still hear the faint tones of laughter coming from around the room. Presently a maid opened the door again, bowed, and led me to another room, where the maid told me she would see me when Catherland was finished.

It was a small room with a balcony, and I sat down on a chair to wait for Catherland, while Lola stood behind me. She wiped the tears from her eyes with her sleeve, and her red eyes were silent. I wondered if I should say anything to Lola, but I did not know how. Forget it, and let me wait for Catherland to arrive.

It was not until about two hours later that I finally heard a light step behind the door. I got up at once, just as the door opened.

The duchess was coming towards me in her crimson gown, her every word and gesture still graceful, her face rippling with pleasure like a blooming rose. Lady Bowyer followed Catherland, with a feather fan in her hand and a large pearl necklace around her short, thick neck.

How they must have enjoyed themselves! I inwardly sneered at them.

"So, child! What makes you so anxious to see me? If I remember rightly, I had the maid inform you that my morning appointment with you had been cancelled! Right?" Catherland sat back in her chair, a hint of reproach in her voice.

Mrs. Bowyer, who was sitting next to Catherland, with her open feather fan tucked under her nose, gave me a gloating look. A sneering, sneering smile hid behind her feather fan.

"Because you suddenly cancelled and made me think you were sick. But the truth is, I was wrong. You looked so happy!" I deliberately lengthened the end note, which made Catherington tense.

She knows that I have found out her little secret!

Catherland deliberately took the cup and took a sip of the tea, and then she cleared her throat. After some seconds of silence, Catherland looked up at me with his usual soft eyes.

"Baby, I have to give you some marriage advice based on the fact that you'll be marrying Leon soon!" Catherland sighed. "Royal marriage is different. It's so mixed up with politics and interests. I've seen a lot of bad marriages, including mine."

I did not interrupt Catherland, but listened in silence to what she was about to say.

"My marriage was sweet at first, but as Queen, you know, I was not only the King's life partner, but his political partner as well. And I need to be involved in the running of the entire werewolf clan. Gradually the King and I had our political differences. We went from being inclusive to arguing and then having a blast. So we ended up having an open marriage to keep it stable. So, as you can see, that was just part of my enjoyment of life as a Queen's right." Catherland's eyes sparkled with pride when she said "right."

"Of course, I don't want your marriage to Leon to be as bad as mine, so I arranged for Lola to come to you. She's a wonderful woman. She doesn't know men as well as her mother!" Catherland said, giving Mrs. Bowyer an approving look, "If you have any emotional confusion, I think Lola can help you!"

"Thank you Your Highness, I do not need a relationship counselor for the time being." I flatly declined Catherland's offer. How ridiculous it sounds that Leon's former mistress should be my relationship counselor.

"Miss Emily, is Lola upsetting you?" Lady Bower put her fan away and gave Lola a stern look, "Lola, if you can't even do what the Queen has planned, then tell me, what else can you do?"

"I'm sorry, Mother!" Lola was as timid as a frightened rabbit, and could not even look up at her mother.

"Emily, if you don't need Lola, I'll have Mrs. Bower bring her back. I do not want to force you to do anything. So what's your decision?" Catheran watched me silently as she waited for my decision.

I glanced over at Lola, and her eyes were pleading. This immediately reminded me of Lola's remark that her mother would whip her if she did not stay by my side. It did not look like Lola was lying to gain my sympathy.

Think of that, Emily. She's Leon's ex-mistress, and having her by your side means Leon sees a lot of her. What should you do if they one day rekindle their relationship?

Jesus Christ, decide!
