Chapter 74 Ruin Her Proud Beautiful Face
As soon as Lucas walked in, his sharp gaze immediately locked onto me.
"You don't mind if I share the table, do you?" He strode over and sat down between Jonas and me without hesitation.
"I do mind!" Jonas glared at Lucas through gritted teeth. "With your status, do you really need to share a table with others?"
Lucas patted Jonas on the shoulder. "This meal's on me, as a thank you for taking care of me when I was drunk that day."
I felt like Lucas put extra emphasis on the words "taking care of," and his pat seemed a bit harder than necessary. It seemed something happened that night that I didn't know about.
Amelia was being left out. She clenched her fists and walked stiffly to Lucas's side, asking the waiter to add another chair.
Lucas didn't stop her. He stared at me, wanting to see my reaction.
I knew very well that Lucas couldn't be driven away, so I simply ignored him. Not wanting to think about his purpose for doing this, I opened the menu and focused my attention on dinner.
Jonas asked Lucas with a fake smile, "Are you and Amelia here on a date too?"
Lucas didn't answer. Amelia nodded, saying she liked this restaurant and had wanted to come for a long time, and Lucas had fulfilled her wish.
While Amelia was talking, Lucas kept staring at me. My expression didn't change at all. Amelia was performing a one-woman show, and her face looked worse and worse.
Only then did Lucas speak up. "It's not a date. I just ran into her at the entrance."
He was answering Jonas, but I inexplicably felt he was explaining it to me.
Jonas asked provocatively, "I heard Amelia went to the hospital three times a day to take care of you a while ago?"
Amelia jumped in to answer, "It's all what I should do."
The dinner was delicious, but Jonas looked gloomy, and I was distracted.
Amelia was very active in talking to Lucas, acting cute from time to time, and even trying to feed Lucas. Lucas responded to her twice, but seeing I still had no reaction, he became more and more perfunctory.
So by the end of the meal, only Amelia was talking.
After dinner, I went to the public restroom to touch up my makeup. Since men weren't allowed, Adrian and Cole could only wait in the hallway. I was alone in the restroom.
Before long, Amelia walked in.
Her delicate, beautiful face was full of hostility. "You're pretty pleased with yourself, aren't you? Watching me make a fool of myself, are you laughing at me inside?"
Even if I denied it, she wouldn't believe me, so I simply nodded. "You are pretty ridiculous."
Amelia raised her hand and swung hard at my face. She'd probably wanted to do this for a long time, her eyes sharp as knives. I easily dodged, but she stumbled forward from the momentum.
I took the opportunity to trip her. Amelia lunged forward and fell against the vanity, her head hitting the mirror hard.
I pressed my left hand on her neck, pinning her back down so she couldn't get up, and picked up an eyebrow razor someone had left behind with my right hand.
When the cold blade touched Amelia's cheek, the anger in her eyes gradually turned to fear. "What do you want to do? If you dare hurt me, Lucas won't let you get away with it!"
"You don't need to worry about things between him and me." I raised an eyebrow, and with a swift motion, I shaved off Amelia's eyebrow.
Amelia's beauty instantly dropped several notches. Looking at her bare brow bone in the mirror, she screamed, "You bitch, I'm going to kill you!"
I pointed the blade at her eyeball, and her screaming stopped abruptly.
"You haven't been doing too well lately, have you?" I calmly made small talk with her.
Amelia's assets had basically been drained, and the items she sold had all come back to me. She might look glamorous on the surface now, but she probably didn't even have a hundred dollars in her pocket.
"The Gambino family knows about your debts, right? But Byron spread that disgusting disease to other people—who would want to help you? You and your mother have been ostracized by the family, haven't you? You want to go back to Dawnharbor, but you can't!"
Michelle had pretty much given up on Amelia, just like she gave up on Byron, so Amelia desperately wanted to marry Lucas.
But Lucas's attention to her now wasn't even one-tenth of what he gave me.
Amelia glared at me in the mirror with a twisted expression. "It's you! You siblings are the ones who made us like this. Byron didn't have any STD before he was castrated!"
"You really hate me, don't you? You hate me and wish I would die." I leaned close to her ear, my red lips moving as I whispered, "When my parents died horribly, and my family was destroyed, I cursed you all day and night just like this. Compared to the revenge I have in mind, what you're suffering now is just the beginning."
My brothers and I could directly kill everyone in the Gambino family, but how could letting them die overnight make up for the heartache and torment my siblings and I suffered day and night for five years?
Since we announced the return of the Sorelli family, the Gambino family had kept a much lower profile. The stronger we became, the more anxious they got.
Watching them live in fear was exactly what my brothers and I wanted. Byron was just a little "gift" we threw in.
"No, no!" The fear in Amelia's eyes grew stronger. The eyebrow razor left a bloody mark on her right cheek. She screamed loudly, "It's all my mother's fault! It has nothing to do with me!"
"She used to be good friends with your mother! My great-grandfather was friends with your great-grandfather. When unrest broke out at the border, my mother became an orphan and was adopted by your mother's family!" Amelia lifted her head hard, trying to avoid the razor in my hand. "She was jealous of your mother! Killing everyone in the Sorelli family was her idea alone!"
Amelia cried ugly tears. "Torturing me is useless. She doesn't care about me at all."
Of course, I knew Michelle was my real enemy. I was taking revenge on Amelia for a bigger reason—Lucas. I pressed my lips together, unwilling to admit this.
The razor left a bloody mark on Amelia's left cheek, too. Tiny drops of blood seeped out, slowly trickling down her face.
"Your mother and the Gambino family alone couldn't have destroyed my family so smoothly. Who was helping you? Tell me!"
"The Thornfield family." Amelia's voice trembled. "Please, take the knife away!"
A thin eyebrow razor wouldn't kill anyone, but it could ruin the pretty face she was so proud of!
I continued asking, "Which person from the Thornfield family? Do you have proof? Who else is behind this?"
Amelia answered in panic, "I don't know, I really don't! My mother didn't tell me. She thinks I'm stupid and can't keep secrets."
"Then go find out," I said coldly.
Amelia looked at me, confused.
"You don't think this will be the only time I catch you, do you?" I smiled. "Go investigate. Next time you fall into my hands, if you can't provide useful information, I won't just cut up your face."
I checked the time. I'd been in the restroom for more than ten minutes.
I let go of Amelia, and she collapsed on the floor with weak legs.
I turned and walked out. After the door closed, sounds of things being smashed and angry cursing came from inside.
Adrian and Cole approached, looking at me nervously and with concern. I waved my hand. "I'm fine. Let's go."
Outside the restaurant, my car, Jonas's car, and Lucas's car were lined up in a row.
Jonas opened the car door and made an inviting gesture. "Bella, let me take you home."
Lucas was about to speak when Jonas said to him with a fake smile, "You need to take Amelia home too, right?"
Lucas looked at me and asked expressionlessly, "Where's Amelia?"
"She's still touching up her makeup." I walked toward Jonas, about to say I could go back on my own, when Jonas suddenly put his arm around my shoulders.
"Lucas is watching us." Sensing I wanted to break free, Jonas tightened his arm and whispered in my ear, "Go along with me. You don't want him to keep pestering you either, right?"
