Chapter 200 Finding a Man
A new day.
When the alarm went off, I sat up yawning.
Walking into the bathroom, I saw myself in the mirror with two deep dark circles under my eyes.
After I posted that update last night, I kept waiting for Lucas to post something new.
I don't know if Lucas didn't see it or what, but he had no reaction at all. I didn't give up this stupid stalking behavior until 3 AM.
In the afternoon, I went to the rehabilitation area again. Roger stood there with his arms crossed and said, "You've done enough basic training. It's time to practice on real people."
"I have practiced," I said while tying knots. "Every time there's an assassination attempt, ambush, or siege, there's a batch of wounded patients for me to practice on. I've been practicing this way since I was little."
Roger was speechless for a moment. "What an unconventional path. Is this what mafia families are like?"
"Has Lucas contacted you these past few days?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
"Am I that close with him?" Roger shot back. "Why would he contact me?"
I clicked my tongue. "Just asking."
Roger blinked curiously. "You two still haven't made up?"
I said irritably, "None of your business."
Roger said dismissively, "You women are so easily blinded by love."
I shot back, "You're being sexist. Docking your pay."
Roger got annoyed and cursed.
After today's training session ended, I walked out and saw a young, clean-cut man coming to see Cressida. He looked somewhat familiar.
"Your admirer has moved on," Roger said, following my gaze to Cressida with schadenfreude. "I thought she loved you so much, but she's already fallen for someone else this fast. See, you women—I'll stop, don't dock my pay."
Roger loved money like his life. Docking his pay hurt him more than hitting or cursing him.
I looked at Cressida again. She was cheerfully holding her boyfriend's arm as they left work. I finally recognized him—it was the male escort Cressida had taken a liking to that night at the entertainment club.
"Don't know where she found this guy, but he's thoughtful, tactful, and funny. He makes Cressida really happy, and she spends money on him every day," Roger said, shaking his head and sighing.
An idea struck me. "Are you jealous?"
"Nothing to be jealous about," Roger stubbornly refused to admit. "I was pretty popular when I was young too."
"If you're jealous, just say so. No need to deny it." I patted Roger's shoulder, my eyes crinkling with a smile. "Come on, I'll take you to find one too."
Roger froze. "What?"
As night fell and darkness deepened.
I brought Roger into Starstream City's largest, most extravagant, most indulgent entertainment complex.
Colorful neon lights flickered in the night, loud music pounded heavily to the beat, and the air mixed with perfume, alcohol, and tobacco was thick with hormones. Men and women cuddled together flirting—here, testing the waters and seduction needed no disguise.
In the interplay of light and shadow, everyone was releasing their desires, as if tomorrow was the end of the world and people only cared about tonight's pleasure. This was Lucas's territory.
Not long ago, I had schemed against Bayle here and encountered an attack where we were vastly outnumbered. Bullets had shattered walls and furniture, countless crystal chandeliers from the ceiling were destroyed, debris everywhere. Now there was no trace of that day's chaos.
Demetrius and Hestia personally received me.
"Good evening, Ms. Sorelli." They both bowed respectfully.
I sat on the soft, comfortable sofa, stretching my limbs relaxedly, and casually instructed them, "Go get all the good-looking male escorts and waiters with nice bodies who know how to please people from the bar."
Demetrius and Hestia both froze, quickly exchanging glances. Demetrius was the first to recover, bowing his head and responding, "Yes, Ms. Sorelli." Then he left the private room.
Hestia asked nervously, "Ms. Sorelli, what are your plans with so many men?"
I smiled slightly. "What else besides making myself happy?"
Hestia looked a bit flustered. I waved my hand lightly, telling her to leave first.
Roger sat to the side with a dark expression, arms crossed, asking through gritted teeth, "You brought me here to find men?"
I looked at him innocently. "Didn't you say you were jealous of Cressida?"
Roger huffed angrily. "You do whatever I say? Then I said to double my bonus, why did you act deaf?"
I calmly reassured him, "Just sit tight. Tonight's expenses are all on me, and I'll pay you ten times overtime for every hour."
Hearing there was money to be made, Roger readily agreed, "Deal!"
I waited patiently for a few minutes. There was no movement outside the door. I signaled to Adrian, "Go hurry them up."
Adrian left as instructed.
After another two minutes, Hestia led five men into the private room with an odd expression.
All five wore fitted black shirts with every button fastened neatly. They didn't look like male escorts but more like job applicants.
Their looks were above average. After entering, they didn't move or look around randomly—clearly they'd been specifically instructed beforehand.
My gaze swept over them coolly. "That's all?"
Hestia's eyes flickered. "Yes, Ms. Sorelli. We're currently short-staffed."
I wasn't satisfied. "Keep them here and go pick a few more."
Hestia had no choice but to find five more men.
This batch was clearly better quality—taller builds, more defined features, more striking presence. But I still found them lacking.
"This one's not tall enough."
"This one's chest isn't big enough."
"This one's smile is too fake, not attractive."
I walked past the men standing in a row, running my finger across each of their chests. One bold man grabbed my finger and winked at me flirtatiously. "Miss, my chest might not be big enough, but I'm very big elsewhere."
Hestia's face turned iron-blue as she silently warned him with her eyes.
I withdrew my finger, sat back on the sofa, and asked Hestia leisurely, "Is this all the entertainment complex has to offer?"
"Of course not." Hestia looked frustrated, as if she had a lot to say but didn't dare. Her eyes darted around before she said, "Ms. Sorelli, according to regulations, summoning a large number of male escorts at once requires Mr. Valeri's approval. Demetrius and I don't have that authority."
It was obviously nonsense, but I didn't make things difficult for her. I cooperated and nodded. "Then go apply for it. I want at least thirty men, or it won't be fun enough."
Hestia's expression changed repeatedly. "Yes!"
A gleam of cunning flashed in my eyes.
Doesn't Lucas like being jealous?
Today I'll give him something to really be jealous about!
When Hestia called Lucas, she didn't hide it from me. She carefully chose her words, explaining the current situation to Lucas.
Two minutes later, she hung up, her palms sweating.
I asked with a smile, "Did Lucas approve it?"
Hestia smiled very stiffly. "He approved it."
My smile deepened as I slowly pressed on, "What else did he say?"
Hestia swallowed. "Mr. Valeri said he's coming right away!"
