Chapter 133 Multi-functional Doormat
"Bella, did you and Lucas get back together?" Jonas asked, looking completely lost.
"No."
"Yes."
Lucas and I spoke at the same time.
Lucas's expression darkened, and he quietly clenched his fists.
Jonas perked up instantly, full of energy. "Bella, I'm back!"
I nodded. "Welcome back."
Jonas walked toward me with open arms and a big smile. Lucas turned and blocked his way, stubbornly repeating to me, "We were together last night, all night."
There was light in his eyes, and I seemed to be the source of that light.
"Adults have needs. Sleeping together once doesn't mean anything," I said.
He used to use me for release. Yesterday, after my triumph at Diana's party, I was so pumped up that I used him as a tool too.
The light in Lucas's eyes went out, turning dim.
Jonas laughed loudly and pushed Lucas aside. "Human vibrator, get out of the way!"
I smoothly dodged Jonas's hug. "Sit down for a bit. I'm not done with my makeup yet. Tea or coffee? I'll have Adrian bring it."
"Coffee, thanks." Jonas yawned.
Lucas followed me toward the dressing room. Jonas, who had been lounging on the sofa, immediately stood up and followed too.
I stopped helplessly. "Why are you both following me?"
Jonas pointed at Lucas, tattling like a child. "He followed you first."
Lucas stared straight at me. Just when I thought he might explode, he smiled at me. "I want to serve you. If you want water, I'll pour it. If your back hurts, I'll massage it. If you don't want to walk, I can carry you. I'm not just a competent human vibrator—I'm a multi-functional doormat."
I fell silent.
That's Lucas for you—adjusting his emotions and strategy in such a short time.
Jonas stared at him in shock, as if meeting Lucas for the first time.
"Are you really Lucas? You can actually say something so humble?" he asked in disbelief.
"Bella has sacrificed so much for me. I owe her three years. For her, no amount of humility is too much," Lucas answered him, but kept looking at me the whole time.
Jonas snapped out of it and said to me, not wanting to be outdone, "Bella, I can do that too. I'm more gentle, considerate, and fun than Lucas."
Lucas ground his back teeth. "Jonas, is being a homewrecker something to be proud of?"
Jonas puffed out his chest. "Yes, pursuing Isabella is a great honor!"
I was speechless. I rubbed my forehead, took a big step into the dressing room, and shut the door before they could react.
Fifteen minutes later, I came out of the dressing room. They were still standing outside, silently competing with their eyes.
I left the room. Adrian and Cole habitually walked behind me.
Lucas pushed Adrian aside and took his place.
Jonas smiled and asked Cole to make some room for him.
Lucas questioned coldly, "Jonas, don't you have anything better to do?"
Jonas shot back, "I should be asking you that. Aren't you busy? How can you spend all day hovering around a woman?"
Lucas retorted, "Bella is my woman. Where she is, I am. Where I am, she is."
I felt like I was surrounded by two big flies, constantly bickering.
At the elevator, the smooth wall reflected everyone's image. I saw Adrian grinning like an idiot while listening to Lucas and Jonas argue.
"Is it funny?" I asked him.
Cole shot Adrian a warning look. Adrian immediately straightened up, cleared his throat, and reminded Lucas and Jonas, "Ms. Sorelli is very busy. If you two don't have anything important—"
"I do!" Jonas raised his right hand. "Bella, I brought back a big business deal!"
"What deal?" I asked.
Jonas very obviously glanced at Lucas, then said loudly, "It's a secret for now!"
Lucas sneered.
Jonas said quietly, "I want to surprise you."
Lucas put one hand in his pocket and said dismissively, "If you won't say, it's fake."
Jonas laughed in exasperation. "Lucas, you're so childish!"
I thought they were both childish.
Adrian spread his hands and shrugged at me helplessly.
It was already past nine when I got up, and now it was close to noon. I didn't go to the office. I took the elevator to the lobby and started my inspection rounds.
The lobby was crowded but everything was orderly. I quickly looked around and was about to move to the next location.
Just then, someone called out loudly to Lucas.
It was a man about Lucas's age. His eyebrows and eyes were similar to Lucas's, but his face was shorter. Features that looked just right on Lucas's face seemed compressed on his.
I didn't know him, but I recognized Leonardo and Angelina beside him.
I had a guess about his identity.
Lucas sounded annoyed. "David, I warned you not to show up in front of me."
Sure enough, this was Donald's illegitimate son, a year older than Lucas!
The guy who was spoiled by Donald and made Lucas look pitiful by comparison.
"Grandpa sent me," David said with a gloomy smile. "Lucas, you're really hard to find. Can't find you at home, can't find you at the dock company either. Luckily Leonardo told me I'd have better luck finding you with Isabella. And here you are."
As he spoke, his gaze fell on my face. "She really is a beauty."
Lucas sneered and rotated his wrist. He'd been holding back his frustration all morning with nowhere to vent it.
Wasn't this a perfect punching bag?
David had probably been beaten by Lucas plenty of times. His eyes showed panic, and he quickly stepped back, warning sharply, "Lucas, don't you want to return to the family?"
"Don't care," Lucas said coldly. "I've done fine all these years without the family's protection, haven't I?"
Lucas was stating a fact, but it was precisely because it was true that it hurt David more.
David grew up under Donald's protection with resources many times what Lucas had, yet his achievements fell far short of Lucas's.
He glared at Lucas with undisguised jealousy.
"Yes, I can't beat you. But I've enjoyed things you never could, like Father and Grandpa's favoritism."
Lucas remained unmoved. He was no longer the helpless child he once was.
Instead, it was Leonardo standing nearby who showed resentment.
Angelina spoke up at this moment. "Lucas, I'm performing at the Moonstone Grand Opera in Starstream City on Thursday. I hope you'll come."
Lucas refused irritably, "I won't."
Angelina said, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have agreed to perform at the Moonstone Grand Opera. That theater is old and shabby."
Lucas found this absurd. I gently tugged at his arm and said to Angelina, "Lucas will come support you."
Angelina was satisfied.
Lucas looked at me unhappily, then thought of something and exchanged a knowing look with me.
Ruin her performance a few times and Angelina should give up.
Angelina was a stubborn eccentric. Once she got what she wanted, she left without any regard for Leonardo and David who came with her.
David watched her leave, cursed "crazy" under his breath, then looked at Lucas and said arrogantly, "Grandpa wants you to hand over your Starstream City assets to me."
Lucas looked at him coldly and gave an address. "I'll give you this place for now."
"Sooner or later I'll make you hand over everything," David threatened, then left.
Probably rushing to see the property Lucas "gave" him.
I knew very well that the address Lucas mentioned was a nursing home where Grace was locked up.
Watching David's eager retreating figure, Lucas said lightly, "Idiot."
