Chapter 110 Our Forever
Chapter 110 Our Forever
Later that evening, after a lively family dinner full of clinking glasses and teasing stories, Sam went out to celebrate with friends. At the doorway, Rainee lingered, biting her lip, anxiety flickering across her face. She wanted to say something, but Alex had already discreetly arranged for his bodyguards to follow at a distance, a silent, watchful shield around Sam.
“You care so much about him,” she said softly, shaking her head as she watched Sam leave. “You’re spoiling him, luxury cars, credit cards, dozens of bodyguards… You know he loves showing off these things.” Her voice carried no real reproach, just a tender blend of admiration and exasperation.
Alex leaned against the balcony railing, the night air cool against his skin, city lights shimmering below like scattered stars. “He’s my brother too,” he said, eyes scanning the skyline. “He deserves to enjoy everything we have. You’ve restricted him so much since childhood, now, let me spoil him a little.”
Rainee rolled her eyes, but a soft smile tugged at her lips. They stood close, shoulders brushing, staring into the endless night sky. Silence stretched between them, but it was a comfortable silence, one that spoke of trust and shared burdens.
“Oh, by the way,” she said finally, breaking the quiet, “Justine will be coming next month for the opening ceremony of our restaurant. He sounded so excited on the call.”
Alex’s eyes lit up. Sliding an arm around her waist, he pulled her closer, letting her head rest against his shoulder. She could feel his steady heartbeat beneath her ear, a calming rhythm she had memorized over countless nights. “Everything feels so perfect right now,” he murmured, voice low and dreamy. “I just want to live like this forever, with you and Sam.”
Her brow furrowed slightly. After a pause, she asked softly, “What about having a child? Don’t you want kids?”
Alex tilted his head, brushing his lips against her forehead with quiet intimacy. “Of course I do,” he said. “But not until Sam is grown, until he finds someone for himself.”
She gave him a playful, mock-suspicious look. “Do you think I won’t care for our child properly because of Sam?”
He chuckled, flicking her forehead lightly. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”
She laughed, burying her face against his chest. Alex held her close, his warmth surrounding her like a shield. “It’s just that Sam still needs our care and guidance,” he said softly. “I don’t want us distracted. Even if we can’t replace his parents, I want to give him emotional support, love him like he’s my own child.”
Her throat tightened. Tears slipped down her cheeks, dampening his shirt. Alarmed, Alex cupped her face, tilting it gently up. “Why are you crying?” he asked.
“I love you, Alex,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I wish I could describe how much you mean to me. Every day my love grows stronger. I feel so lucky to have you. You’re the best husband in the world.”
A proud, almost boyish smirk tugged at Alex’s lips. He leaned closer, their foreheads touching, his voice playful yet full of devotion. “Then will you let me do anything tonight, sweetheart?”
She giggled, pushing him lightly, but he only chuckled, scooping her effortlessly over his shoulder. “Go away------ahhh! Put me down! I’m heavy!”
“I could carry you forever and never feel the weight,” he murmured, his voice rich with affection, as her laughter spilled into the room.
Inside their bedroom, he set her gently on the bed. For a long moment, neither moved. They spoke only through glances and soft smiles. “Suddenly,” he murmured, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, “I don’t want to do anything but look at you. No matter how long I stare, it’s never enough. When I’m at the office, you’re all I think about. Coming home to your smile… it melts every bit of my fatigue away.”
He began kissing her softly, one tender kiss after another, as though each one held a promise. Her giggles filled the room, warm and unguarded. “I love you,” he whispered between kisses. “I love you, and I will, until my last breath.”
