Chapter One Hundred and Nineteen
Chapter One Hundred and Nineteen
Ezra
I’ve no idea how long I’ve been decorating. The walls are painted, but they will need a second coat, and I have started putting the furniture together. I haven’t taken a break since I came in here. I’m standing in the middle of the room, taking stock of my progress and ensuring I haven’t missed anything.
“Ezra, what are you doing?” The sound of Alana’s voice pulls me from my thoughts, and I happily put my attention on her.
“Hey, bright eyes. I wanted to surprise you by doing the room. You didn’t sleep long.”
“Ezra, I have been asleep for like three hours.” She laughs.
Wait. What? I didn’t realize it had been three hours. “Sorry, I didn’t realize the time. I was hoping to get most of it done today and finish it off tomorrow. It needs a second coat.”
Alana smiles brightly and comes over to me. She slips her arms around my neck. “I could have helped, my love.”
“I know, but I wanted it to be a surprise, so if I asked you to help, it wouldn’t have been one now, would it?” I chuckle.
Alana shakes her head. “No, good point. It looks great so far. Thank you. You are the best, Ezra,” she gushes, then kisses me softly.
I smile into her lips. “How did you sleep?” I ask as we part.
Alana moves to my side, and I slip my arm around her. “Good,” she answers as she looks around the room.
“Do you like the color on the wall?”
“Yes, everything looks great so far. I think it is time you take a break, though. Come on, I will make us some food, and I promise it won’t be some strange mixture. It will be normal food,” Alana promises.
“No apples and bananas with peanut butter sandwiches,” I tease. She had it all in the same sandwich for lunch yesterday. Perhaps it is a thing, but I have never seen or heard of someone eating it.
Alana laughs loudly. “No. And hey, don’t judge, it was delicious. You should have tried it. Finlay enjoyed it, and so did I.” She grins, resting her right hand on her stomach.
“No, thank you. I am happy with the food of normal people. As long as you and Finlay liked it, that is all that matters.” I smile and kiss the top of her head.
Alana glances up at me and sticks her tongue out, laughing.
“You go get cleaned up. I will start on food.” She smiles and kisses my cheek.
“Yes, ma’am.”
Alana and I head our separate ways. I rejoin her back in the kitchen soon enough after a quick shower.
“What are you making, bright eyes?”
Alana turns around to face me. She moans when she realizes I am shirtless. Alana doesn’t answer me because she is too busy gawking at my bare chest and stomach while licking her lips.
“Mmm, so sexy.” She whimpers and finally meets my eye.
“Shall I put a shirt or something on?” I smirk.
She shakes her head, reaches out and runs her nails down my chest. I close my eyes and groan loudly.
“Once we eat, you are all mine.”
It isn’t a suggestion; it is a fact. Her horniness has calmed down, but only a little, which I am surprised by because I thought by this stage of her pregnancy she wouldn’t be bothered with sex, but nope, she still wants it. Not like I have any complaints.
“I am yours to do with as you please, gorgeous. What are you making?” I thought I would ask again since she didn’t answer me the first time.
“Pasta with cheese, broccoli, and cauliflower.”
“Oh, yum, sounds good. Can I help?” I offer.
Alana shakes her head and turns back to continue cooking our food. I grab some plates, cutlery, and water from the fridge for us.
When everything is ready, Alana plates it up, and we sit in the living room to eat. We haven’t gotten around to buying a dining table yet.
“Thanks for dinner, angel. It is delicious.”
Alana always makes the best pasta dishes. It seems to be a speciality of hers.
Alana places her head on my shoulder. “You are welcome, handsome. It is the least I can do after you have taken such good care of me.”
“The pleasure is all mine, bright eyes. I like taking care of you.”
“Because you are amazing. Finlay and I are lucky to have you,” she coos.
“Thanks, beautiful, but I am the lucky one.”
Alana smiles sweetly at me, then concentrates on her food. I do the same. We sit in a comfortable silence as we finish up. I take the dishes to the kitchen and rinse them under running water before placing them in the dishwasher.
When I return, Alana seems to be in a world of her own as she plays with her ring. I still haven’t re-proposed to her because things have been hectic, but it remains part of the plan.
“Alana, are you okay?” I ask and sit next to her. I seem to break her from her thoughts, and she meets my eyes.
“Yes. I have been thinking a lot about something recently. I know you said you wanted to propose again, but instead, how about we get married? I want to get married before Finlay arrives. We could have the wedding here. We have plenty of room. We can invite your family and Lucy. I can invite my friends from work, and you could invite some of yours from back home.”
I can hear the nervousness in her voice. She isn’t sure if it is what I want. Alana couldn’t be more wrong. I don’t even need to think on it.
“Yes! I’d love for us to get married before Finlay arrives!” I exclaim.
“Really? You mean it?” Her nervousness turned to excitement.
“Yes. We shouldn’t have any issues arranging it since it won’t be a massive wedding. We should decide on a date and then let everyone know.”
I have wanted to make Alana my wife probably from the first time I told her I loved her, and now is my chance.
“How about two weeks before my due date? And I think we should tell everyone in person. We can fly to LA this weekend for a few days. Ask everyone to meet us for dinner and tell them all at the same time. I would rather ask them while in the same room, it makes it more personal. I don’t want to plan it too close to the end of my pregnancy. The sooner, the better.” Alana’s face and eyes are lit up with excitement and happiness. I am sure mine is the same.
“Great idea! I will book us flights and a hotel.”
Someone is renting my house, and we have given up the apartment since we no longer need it. We could stay with my parents, but I think I’d rather stay in a hotel.
“I can’t wait to marry you, Ezra, and finally become Mrs Alana Barclay,” she says, then kisses me.
“I can’t wait either, sweetheart. I am sure we can find someone to officiate our wedding, and companies to decorate and cater the event, since we won’t have a large crowd. It means less stress on you. All you need to do is find a dress.”
“Perfect! Hopefully, we can manage it, but I think we should be able to because we still have just under three months to arrange everything. Lucy will help however she can once we tell her.”
“Yes, so will my mom and Jenny. We got this, bright eyes. It will be the perfect day.”
“Of course, it will be because I am marrying you, Ezra.”
I kiss Alana repeatedly and hug her. I have never wanted anything more in my life than to marry Alana. I will make sure it is a perfect day for her! She deserves it.
