Chapter 368

Two days later, James had taken care of all the work stuff.

Emily and James hopped on the flight back to Starry Capital.

By the time they touched down in Starry Capital, it was already evening.

Instead of heading straight to the Smith Manor, they made their way to Mansion No. 9.

This garden villa belonged to James, one of only nine in the whole community.

Each villa had a big piece of land, separated by artificial rivers, giving them privacy and seclusion.

Emily asked, "Now that we're back, should we swing by The Smith Manor?"

James replied, "We should drop by at least once to fill them in on our wedding plans. Let's go tomorrow night."

Emily wasn't too fussed about the formalities, but James was keen on having a big wedding.

Emily suggested, "How about the day after tomorrow? I've got work at Cassia tomorrow, and Armando mentioned a welcome dinner in the evening."

James agreed and casually asked, "Where's the dinner?"

Emily raised an eyebrow at James, "Stone Residence."

She added, "Good news should be shared with our people."

James chuckled at her words.

Stone Residence was his turf, known to only a few in Starry Capital.

But James was in good spirits, "I'll swing by to pick you up tomorrow night."

Emily nodded, showing some excitement, "Cassia's three main designers work independently. I haven't met the other two yet, so I'm looking forward to it."

James smiled, "Hope you make some new friends."

The next day.

Emily headed to Cassia's group headquarters early in the morning.

Cassia's headquarters were also downtown.

Emily was pleasantly surprised to find that the company was close to the Smith Group, just across the street with a connecting footbridge.

She was thrilled by this discovery.

Now she could not only work alongside James but also have lunch with him.

During the last election at the Smith Group, Emily had enjoyed two meals at the company cafeteria, which she found quite tasty.

Upon entering the building, Emily went straight to Armando's office.

Armando stood up when he saw Emily, sounding relaxed, "You're here?"

Emily nodded and glanced around Armando's office.

It was spacious and situated on the top floor, with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows offering a breathtaking view of the city.

Armando offered, "Let me show you to your office?"

Emily was surprised, "Already set up so quickly? It's only my first day."

Armando explained, "It was prepared a few years ago and just got spruced up yesterday."

Instead of leading her to her office, Armando walked to a wall on the left side, where a door was located.

Emily had noticed the door earlier and wondered where it led.

Just like James' office, there was a door that led to his private lounge.

Emily guessed that Armando's office was similarly set up.

Armando pushed open the door, revealing a larger office space with a layout similar to his own but with warmer colors.

As Emily approached the desk, she noticed a photo of herself from her youth, taken when she and Harry were set to participate in a boxing match.

That day, Emily emerged victorious, her arm raised high by the referee as the crowd cheered for her.

She picked up the photo and gazed at it for a while, feeling a surge of emotions.

Those days were the wildest in Emily's life, marked by youthful recklessness, passion, and violence, which completely transformed her life.

Most importantly, only Armando and Harry were aware of that phase of her life.

The thrill of victory, and the sense of overpowering a formidable opponent, were memories Emily could never forget.

"Did you snap this photo?" Emily asked, shaking the picture in her hand.

Armando walked over, "Yep, I bet on your opponent to win that day, and you made me lose a lot of money. But seeing your proud and happy face after winning, I was happy for you too."

Emily smiled, "My bad. I dig this photo; it stirs up my fighting spirit, which is what I need right now."

Emily knew she would be in battle mode for a while.

Since returning to Starry Capital, she was sure to face one storm after another.

Armando seemed to get Emily's unspoken thoughts.

He casually remarked, "Being the wife of the richest man isn't a walk in the park. Everyone in their family has hidden agendas, getting tangled in endless wars for the sake of one person. Is it worth it?"

Emily seemed unfazed, "I'm doing it for the love of my life, who I want to be with forever. That's worth it to me."

Setting up Emily's office and giving her a tour of the company, Armando made sure everyone knew her face.

At the global jewelry exhibition, Emily's identity as Cassia's renowned Shadow had been publicly revealed.

Therefore, everyone treated Emily with the utmost respect.

In the afternoon, the company held a high-level meeting to officially announce Emily's position at Cassia as the Chief Designer.

However, Emily did not meet the legendary Vesper and Phoenix.

Curious, she inquired.

Armando explained, "Phoenix is currently overseas setting up a diamond factory and won't be back for a while. As for Vesper, you'll see her tonight."

The welcome dinner was set in the VIP room at Stone Residence, with around twenty guests, all major shareholders and executives of the company.

Unlike typical corporate gatherings, the atmosphere was lively, as most attendees were young.

Emily was most interested in meeting Vesper, but even after introductions around the table, she didn't spot her.

Just as Emily was about to ask, the door to the room swung open suddenly.

A tall figure in a red trench coat and sunglasses stood at the entrance.

At first glance, Emily couldn't tell if the person was male or female.

The figure appeared masculine, with short hair, but the form-fitting red trench coat, a limited edition Hermès bag slung over the arm, and black knee-high boots made it hard to discern the gender.

The person walked in on high heels, heading straight for Emily.

After scrutinizing her from head to toe, the person spoke in an extremely arrogant tone, "You must be Shadow?"
