Chapter 99 — Petra and Lyyana's Suspicion

Without further ado, Denzel flicked his cigarette butt and hurried towards Berli's ward, leaving Petra trailing behind. It didn't take long for Denzel to arrive at the door of Berli's room. He pushed the door open and found Berli laughing softly with Lyyana.

"Sweetheart?" Denzel called out, rushing towards his wife, intending to embrace Berli, but she refused and said, "Don't come close, Denzel!" Berli exclaimed, raising her hands and moving away from him.

Denzel and Petra looked at Berli and Lyyana alternately. "What's wrong, honey?"

"Lyyana, what's going on?" Denzel asked Lyyana with a sharp look.

Lyyana shook her head, turning to look at Berli and asking, "What's wrong, Berli?"

“Because you smell like cigarettes‼ Clean yourself up first, Denzel‼” Berli yelled, her face looking adorably exasperated.

“Sweetheart‼ you’re scaring me‼” Denzel said as he ran to hug Berli. He didn’t care if she would push him away; all he wanted was to hold the woman he deeply loved and cherished.

Berli chuckled softly, allowing him to hug her, her other hand still connected to an IV drip. “Please don’t do that again, I’m so afraid of losing you.” Denzel wept in her embrace.

Petra and Lyyana smiled happily, watching the two people who had been through so much come back together and reconcile. Petra wrapped his arm around Lyyana’s shoulders, holding close the woman who would soon be his wife. “Thank you for still accepting me,” Berli whispered with a hoarse voice.

Denzel loosened his embrace, cupping Berli’s face, kissing her forehead, and then tightly gripping her hand. “There’s not a single reason for me to leave you, my love. No matter what, in any situation, you will always be my wife and life partner.”

“Even though I can’t give you children?” Berli asked suddenly.

“Regardless of that, I won’t leave you. You’re the best partner for me to chase our dreams and aspirations.” Berli smiled happily, and Denzel kissed the back of her hand, hugging her gently and affectionately again.

“Ahem, we’re becoming statues here, Petra,” Lyyana teased because Berli and Denzel were not letting go of each other.

Berli and Denzel smiled at Lyyana’s remark and finally broke their embrace. “Hurry up and get married, so you can feel warm all the time,” Denzel said as he moved a chair next to Berli’s bed.

“Speaking of marriage, in four days, we’re getting married.”

Berli and Denzel’s eyes widened in surprise as they looked at Lyyana and Petra. “Really?”

Lyyana nodded in response to Berli’s question. “I hope you’re well enough to come and be there with me, Berli.”

“I’ll recover quickly and be there!” Berli replied confidently. Lyyana smiled, pleased by Berli’s determination to get better. “Sweetheart, can you ask the doctor when I can leave here?” she requested Denzel.

“I’ll ask the doctor later.” Berli smiled happily at Denzel’s supportive response. They continued chatting about Lyyana’s wedding location and the event itself.

They talked for quite a while, not realizing it was getting late. Despite the engaging conversation, Lyyana occasionally kept an eye on Garret, who was busy playing with his Legos and Rubik’s Cube. Lyyana wanted to go home, feeling bad for Garret, who hadn’t changed clothes all day, but she also didn’t want to interrupt since Berli was enjoying their conversation.

"Excuse me," someone said from behind Berli's hospital room door. The door swung open, revealing two nurses carrying medical equipment. "Excuse me, sir, it's time for your routine check-up." Denzel nodded, stepping aside to give room for the medical staff to carry out their duties.

"Um, Denzel, sorry... it seems we need to head home first," Lyyana said, gathering her courage. She felt bad because Garret had yawned several times already, clearly bored.

"Hey, don't you want to have lunch here first?" Denzel asked, trying to stop Lyyana and Petra.

Lyyana glanced at Petra, silently asking for his help to convey their message. "We'll have lunch at home, Garret hasn't been home since earlier."

"Yeah, we'll eat at home. Garret needs his afternoon nap," Lyyana glanced at Garret, who was leaning against the sofa.

Denzel followed Lyyana's gaze and nodded, saying, "Sure, that's fine. Garret must be very tired."

"Excuse me, sir, Mrs. Berli's condition has improved compared to before. The doctor will visit tonight," the nurse explained, jotting down notes in the patient record book. Denzel simply nodded, then approached Berli and gently kissed her forehead.

"Darling, Lyyana and Petra are saying goodbye," he said, glancing at Petra and Lyyana standing across the room.

Berli sighed heavily and pouted. "Oh, why the rush?"

"Poor Garret has been waiting for a long time, and besides, we came straight here from Garret's school. We'll visit again tomorrow," Lyyana persuaded Berli.

"Promise?" Berli nodded in response to Lyyana's words.

Lyyana then turned to look at Garret, who was sitting with his hands clasped. "Sweetheart, let's go home?" she said, waving at Garret.

Garret cheered happily, quickly straightening his legs and running towards Lyyana. Lyyana crouched down, and when Garret reached her, she immediately took his toys and put them back in Garret's school bag. "Let's say goodbye to Uncle and Auntie first."

"Uncle Denzel, Auntie Berli, Garret's going home now, okay?" he said with an adorable voice and a cute expression.

Berli smiled happily, "Sure, sweetheart, be careful on the way, okay?"

Denzel nodded, patting the top of Garret's head and saying, "Let's play again tomorrow, alright?" Garret nodded and immediately approached Petra, hugging her tightly.

"We're saying goodbye now," Petra said, carrying Garret and holding Lyyana's hand. Denzel nodded and escorted Petra and Lyyana to the hospital room's door.

He held the door open and looked at Petra and Lyyana earnestly. "Thank you so much, thanks to your help, Berli is feeling much calmer."

Lyyana smiled in response to Denzel's words. "No big deal, we're glad to help and be useful to others."

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Petra and Lyyana headed towards the hospital lobby. Petra set Garret down next to Lyyana and instructed him to wait for a moment while she went to fetch the car. Initially, Lyyana refused, but because the afternoon weather was scorching hot and Petra didn't want either Lyyana or Garret to get overheated, she relented and waited in the hospital lobby.

After a short wait, Petra's car was seen approaching the hospital lobby door. Lyyana quickly approached and got into the car. Garret, who was already sleepy, asked to sit in the front seat with Lyyana.

"Petra, Laura just informed me that Uncle Robert invited us for dinner tonight."

Petra nodded, confusing Lyyana. "Why?" Petra asked, glancing at Lyyana who was looking at her with a furrowed brow.

"Do you want to go?"
