Chapter 96 — Lost her baby?

Lyyana nodded and smiled, "If Daddy gets angry, we won't bring the packed lunches. Deal?" Finally, Garret nodded and got out of bed.

Before heading to Petra's room, Lyyana grabbed Garret's school uniform for the day. They then entered Petra's room, and Garret ran towards Petra's bed. The 5-year-old boy immediately climbed onto Petra, who was still wrapped in the blankets. "Daddy‼ Wake up‼ Let's go take a bath‼ Daddy, wake up‼" Garret exclaimed, shaking Petra's body.

Lyyana smiled, she opened the curtains of Petra's room and opened Petra's wardrobe, selecting the clothes Petra would wear that day. Even after Lyyana finished preparing Petra's clothes, he still remained curled up in bed, not yet awake.

"Mama! Daddy doesn't want to wake up‼" Garret whined, turning to look at Lyyana.

Lyyana walked over and helped Garret wake Petra up. "Petra, wake up," she said, gently rubbing Petra's arm and patting his cheek.

"Darling, why don't you go to the bathroom first? Daddy will follow later," Garret reluctantly nodded and went into the bathroom.

After ensuring Garret had entered the bathroom, Lyyana tried waking up Petra again. "Petra, wake up," she said, tapping Petra's cheek.

As Petra still didn't wake up, Lyyana stood up, but before she could turn around, she screamed in a stifled manner. "Aaa‼"

"Where are you going? We're already here!" Petra said in a raspy voice, pulling Lyyana's hand, causing her small body to fall onto Petra's chest.

"I'm going to catch up with Garret," Lyyana replied, trying to steady her surprise and racing heartbeat due to their close proximity.

Petra smiled mischievously, gazing at Lyyana without blinking. "You're forgetting my morning kiss, honey!" he said, immediately capturing Lyyana's lips and kissing her lovingly without demanding anything more.

Petra kissed Lyyana for quite a while until he let go when Lyyana ran out of breath and gently pounded his broad chest. "Petra!" Lyyana said, straightening her clothes.

"What, honey?" Petra replied, pulling Lyyana back and hugging her from the side.

Lyyana tried to resist, but Petra tightened his embrace, stroking Lyyana's flat stomach and whispering, "Soon there will be a Petra Junior, Garret's sibling. Are you ready, honey?"

Lyyana looked up and bumped into Petra's chin. "Is it okay?"

"Why?"

"I mean, Garret is still so little. I'm afraid he'll feel neglected. I'm worried that..."

"We can talk about it later, or we can try first and then—"

"What, Petra," Lyyana interrupted, hitting Petra's arm wrapped around her flat stomach.

Petra chuckled softly, nuzzling Lyyana's neck. The breath on Lyyana's neck made her body tingle. Elsewhere, Denzel had just come out of the doctor's office looking sad and gloomy. He approached Berli, who was still lying on the bed with a sorrowful expression, gently stroking her stomach.

"Honey?" Denzel called, approaching Berli who was staring blankly and continuously stroking her stomach.

"I lost my baby, Denzel. My baby!" Berli wailed, tears starting to stream down her cheeks.

Denzel took Berli's hand and held it tightly. He held back his tears with all his might so as not to make Berli even sadder. A few days ago, Berli had fallen in the bathroom after accidentally stepping on spilled shampoo. Because her pregnancy wasn't very strong yet and the severe jolt to her stomach, Berli had a miscarriage. The four-month-old baby had to be removed from her womb.

Berli was devastated by the incident; she had just felt the joy of marrying the man who loved her, only to be heartbroken again by the loss of the baby in her womb. "Why did this have to happen? I'm such a stupid, careless woman! I should've—" Berli cried, repeatedly hitting her stomach.

Denzel restrained Berli's hand as she began to cry out from her own blows. "Honey, don't do this. This is fate," Denzel tried to calm Berli, pressing the emergency button with his other hand.

Not long after, several nurses arrived with a middle-aged doctor. One nurse injected a sedative into Berli's IV, while another prepared to examine Berli's abdomen. "It looks like the stitches have come loose, Doctor," said the nurse examining Berli's stomach.

The doctor sighed heavily, "Prepare for treatment. Make sure there’s no infection," he said, looking at the nurses lined up beside Berli's bed.

Due to the sedative injected into her IV, Berli slowly began to calm down, only able to stare at Denzel with a guilty look. Berli's bed slowly moved out of the room as they pushed her to the treatment room to re-stitch her abdomen.

Elsewhere, Lyyana and Petra were on their way to visit Berli. While Lyyana was with Garret at school, she received news from Petra saying Berli was being treated at the hospital. "So, Denzel called you?" asked Lyyana as she opened snacks for Garret and Petra.

Petra nodded, "Denzel said he couldn’t attend the meeting because he had to stay with Berli at the hospital. I wondered what was wrong and found out Berli had a miscarriage. She fell in the bathroom," Petra explained, glancing at Lyyana.

"Poor Berli, she just started to feel happy and now she has to face this tragedy." Lyyana wiped the corner of her eyes, holding back tears.

Lately, Lyyana had been more sensitive than usual. She cried easily over minor things that didn’t directly affect her. "Let's just pray that Berli will be okay. Maybe this is her fate."

Lyyana nodded, then busied herself by feeding Garret and Petra the snacks she made the previous night. After a 30-minute drive, Petra’s car stopped at a fruit and pastry shop. He turned to look at Lyyana, who was also looking at him. "Can you go in?" Petra asked, looking at Lyyana.

Lyyana nodded, opened the door, and moved Garret to the back seat. The toddler was busy playing with Legos and didn’t fuss when Lyyana got out alone, unlike usual when he wouldn’t let Lyyana out of his sight.

Lyyana entered the shop alone, looking for cakes and fruits to bring as gifts for Berli. Even though she had only known Berli for a short time, she knew Berli's favorite cakes and fruits. After choosing and paying, Lyyana quickly returned to Petra’s car. She placed the gifts in the back seat and checked on Garret.
