Chapter 35

KIAN’S POV

As I walked downstairs, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over me. I knew exactly what this meeting was about, and I was not looking forward to it. My mother, Martha, was standing in the living room, a stern expression on her face. Mira, was also present, looking so comfortable.

"What's this meeting for?" I asked gruffly, trying to hide my annoyance.

Martha cleared her throat before speaking. "Kian, we need to talk about your upcoming wedding. Mira and I have been discussing the details, and there are a few things that need to be addressed."

I sighed inwardly, knowing that this was going to be a long and stressful conversation. I had been dreading this talk for weeks, and now that it was finally here, I just wanted to get it over with.

"Can we just get on with it?" I asked, trying to hide my frustration.

Martha looked taken aback by my tone, but she continued nonetheless. "Kian, your wedding is just a few weeks away, and there are still many things that need to be finalized. Mira and I have been working hard to ensure that everything is perfect, but we need your input on a few matters."

I nodded reluctantly, knowing that I had no choice but to participate in this conversation, Mira smiled at me.

"Fine," I said gruffly. "Let's get on with it."

Martha nodded, a look of determination on her face. "First of all, we need to discuss the guest list. Mira and I have compiled a list of all the people we think should be invited, but we need your approval on it."

As we went through the list, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. There were so many people on the list that I didn't even know, and I couldn't help but wonder why they were invited to my wedding.

"Who's this?" I asked, pointing to a name on the list.

Martha looked at Mira, who shrugged. "I don't know," Mira said. "Martha added her to the list."

Martha looked defensive.

I smirked.

"Mira, you had the nerves to write Vivian's name on the list?"

Mira and Martha shivered.

"Mom have I ever disrespected you?" I said in anger

My mom couldn't give a reply

And without a word I stood up

As I stood up, my mother's face turned red with anger. "Kian, how dare you!" she exclaimed. "You have no right to disrespect me like this!"

I smirked, my eyes flashing with defiance. "I'm not disrespecting you, Mother. I'm simply taking control of my life now And as for you, Mira," I turned to Mira, my voice dripping with disdain. "You had the nerves to write Vivian's name on the list? Are you kidding me?"

Mira shivered, her eyes wide with fear. "Kian, please..."

But I cut her off, my anger boiling over. "No, Mira. You know how I feel about Vivian. And yet you still had the audacity to invite her to our wedding?"

My mother stood up, her voice raised. "Kian, stop this! You're being unreasonable!"

But I refused to back down. "I'm being unreasonable? You're the one who's being unreasonable, Mother. You're the one who's trying to control every aspect of my life. Well, I've had enough!"

I took the guest list papers and tore them to shreds, my mother and Mira watching in horror. "You're going to regret this, Kian," my mother spat. "You're going to regret disobeying me!"

But I just smiled, my heart pounding with excitement. "I'm not disobeying you, Mother. I'm taking control of my own life. And you Mira” my voice cold. "I think it's time we have a little chat about our future together."

Mira nodded, her eyes wide with fear. "Y-yes, Kian. Of course."

I turned to my mother, my eyes flashing with defiance. "And you, Mother. I think it's time you learned to let go. I'm not a child anymore. I can take care of myself."

My mother's face turned red with rage.

"Mira, I am not taking responsibility for this child unless its born and i am going to run a paternity test on that baby, if its mine I will take responsibility for what I did today" I yelled at Mira.

As I yelled at Mira, my mother, Martha, gazed at me with a mixture of shock and disappointment. "Are you doubting her?" she asked, her voice calm but firm.

I hit the table in anger, my fists clenched. "Mom, I am only letting things slide because you have only me, but not again," I said, my voice raised.

Mira looked at me, her eyes wide with fear. "Kian.....”

But I cut her off, my anger boiling over. "No, Mira, no word from you will actually make me feel better. You're telling me that I'm the father of your child, but I don't even remember sleeping with you. And now you're expecting me to take responsibility for this child?"

Martha stood up, her eyes flashing with anger. "Kian, that's enough," she said. "You will not speak to Mira like that."

But I refused to back down. "No, Mom. I won't take responsibility for this child unless it's born and I've run a paternity test. If it's mine, then I'll take responsibility for what I did today."

Mira nodded, her eyes wide with fear. "Y-yes, Kian. I understand."

Martha sat back down, her eyes never leaving mine. "Kian, you need to calm down and think about what you're saying. You're not thinking about the consequences of your actions."

But I was beyond reason. I was angry and hurt, and I didn't care about the consequences. "I am thinking about the consequences, Mom. And I'm telling you, I won't take responsibility for this child unless it's mine."

As the argument continued, I could feel my anger and hurt boiling over. I knew I was saying things that I would regret later, but I couldn't stop myself. I was in too deep.

Finally, after what felt like hours, the argument ended. Mira was in tears, and Martha was furious with me. But I didn't care. I had said what I needed to say, and I had made my point.

As I stormed out of the room, I knew that I had to calm down and think about what I had just done.
