Chapter 153 153

Chapter 153 153
Venessa’s POV
Denzel made love to me slowly, tenderly.
There was no rush in him, no frantic urgency only patience and reverence as he took his time with my body. I loved every second of it. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was no ticking clock hanging over my head, no fear of interruption. Just us. Just the moment. The relief of that alone made my chest ache with gratitude.
When Denzel told me what Atabey had revealed to him about the gift she had given us my heart soared. She had finally come through. For all of us.
Knowing the traitors had never returned felt like a reward I hadn’t dared to ask for. And when I learned that Donovan, along with every last one of them, had been erased from history wiped away as if they had never existed at all I whispered a quiet thank you, hoping she could hear me wherever she was.
I woke later, naked and curled in Denzel’s arms. My body was sore between my legs, a reminder that I was a virgin no longer, but the ache was nothing compared to the pleasure. It had all been worth it. Every touch. Every breath. Every moment we shared. I couldn’t wait to do everything with him again.
We had dinner in the room and made love once more, losing ourselves in each other without restraint. We stayed indoors the entire day, only emerging the next morning.
Breakfast with the entire pack was… awkward. Sitting at the high table as their Luna and as Denzel’s mate felt surreal, the weight of their eyes heavy on me. Still, I was grateful Alesha and her people hadn’t returned. That alone made it easier to breathe.
Tonya couldn’t recognize us, not yet but I could already see the spark between her and Rayon beginning to bloom. It gave me hope. I prayed that, one day, we would find our way back to being friends.
When the meal ended, Denzel stood.
“I know many of you are confused about what has happened,” he said, his voice steady and commanding. “And I owe you all an explanation. Princess Jalisa has found her fated mate Beta Tyrell. And I have found mine.”
His hand tightened around mine.
“Her name is Venessa. We will be finalizing our divorce so we can each join with our true halves.”
For a heartbeat, the room was silent. Then cheers erupted. They accepted the truth wholeheartedly, and relief washed through me when I realized this had worked.
After breakfast, we prepared the vehicles for our journey to the Lycan Kingdom.
Denzel wanted to reunite my mother with King Jamar and finally deal with Queen Rochelle and her madness. She was still alive in this life untouched by Eshera’s influence and that meant she would still try to eliminate Danisha. It was time to put an end to that.
We didn’t alert King Jamar of our arrival. We wanted the reunion to be a surprise. Danisha wasn’t told where we were going either we needed her to follow us willingly. She was confused, and I still hadn’t explained everything to her. I suspected Denzel was leaving that part for her father to handle.
We took the familiar route through the outlands. Everything was eerily peaceful no sign of the silver forest clan. Only packless werewolves and bears roamed the land, just as it had been before Tremaine’s takeover. It felt like a miracle.
Danisha began to protest when she realized where we were headed. I assured her everything would be fine. The fear in her eyes was unmistakable, but she trusted me enough to calm herself.
When we arrived at the Lycan Kingdom, I was surprised to learn the King was perfectly healthy. He hadn’t been poisoned or ill which made sense, really. Ashani Wright had been the mastermind behind Eshera’s plans, and with him gone, there had been no one left to carry out the attack. None of Eshera’s followers had been reborn into this world. There was no one left to harm Jamar.
I knew he would be eager to talk once he saw us.
Danisha was terrified, though she held herself together. She didn’t want to enter the kingdom didn’t even want the carriage to cross the gates but I commanded her to compose herself, and she obeyed.
Inside the palace, I took the lead. The halls felt familiar beneath my feet, every turn instinctive. I guided us toward King Jamar’s favorite lounge.
We were intercepted by Beta Jahlil. I frowned immediately his father had been a traitor. But Jahlil himself seemed different, perhaps misguided rather than corrupt, much like Tyrell and Jalisa had once been.
“Alpha Shaw,” he greeted, stepping into our path his gaze lingering on me in a way that made my skin crawl.
“Beta Jahlil. I need to see the King,” Denzel said firmly.
Jahlil hesitated, his eyes flicking between Danisha and me before he shook his head.
“Women are not permitted to see the King. They will have to meet Queen Rochelle instead.”
Denzel smiled coldly.
“That is my Luna and my fated mate,” he said evenly. “And this is her mother. I intend to introduce my family to”
“Venessa.”
King Jamar’s deep voice cut through the corridor.
Jahlil froze, spinning toward the sound in shock.
The King’s eyes moved from me to Danisha, and his expression crumpled sadness and longing written plainly across his face.
“Danisha?” he breathed.
Everything stopped.
“Daddy,” I whispered, and Danisha gasped.
I ran into his arms, and he held me tightly, closing his eyes as if he needed the moment to be real before believing it. When he finally pulled back, he looked at me then at Denzel.
“We did it,” he said, tears filling his eyes.
“Donovan he” His voice broke.
“I saw him,” Denzel said quietly. “And I made sure he took his last breath.”
Jamar smiled at him, then turned back to Danisha, who stood frozen, unable to speak.
“He approached me as an ally,” Jamar said softly, explaining. “Just to get close enough to bury silver in my chest.”
“I knew that was the only way he could reach you,” Denzel replied. “He’s gone now. Erased. Keon is King.”
Jamar nodded slowly, never taking his eyes off Danisha.
I looked at my mother shocked, confused, overwhelmed.
Finally, Jamar loosened his hold on me. I stepped back, watching as he stared at Danisha with years of longing written across his face, while I smiled softly, knowing what was about to unfold.
