Chapter 63 It’s out
Chapter 63 It’s out
Landon.
“In a month, I understand it’s going to be a lot of stress because of the exams, but I believe you can all do it and if anyone needs to talk their feelings out, we have the guidance counselor and if you need help, the school is more than willing to assign tutors to help you, and there are study groups, winning is important and so is passing your exams, you can’t get into your dream school with just the win, you need to pass and I have a feeling you all will.” Coach Liam stated and we nodded.
I was confident, maybe a little anxious, I already made a decision and I accepted the offer given to me, dad would lose his mind when he found out, I had hoped he would not take his anger out on Mom.
I accepted a scholarship at a school in Vermont, they reached out a year ago when I hit the early admission to Stanford and I rejected it. Still, when we traveled, I decided to give it a chance, I don’t want to walk in my Dad’s footsteps, I want to make my own name, I want to create my own mark, and I have a feeling I will.
Mason did everything he wanted. Attended the same school as dad, won the same championship as dad, and not only that, he is exactly where dad was, only that dad didn’t lose mom; she was with me all this time. I didn’t want the same. If I pick the school Dad wants, I will still be controlled by him.
This is my own chance.
I was yet to tell Elara, I felt selfish, I had the thought to ask her to accept the scholarship in Vermont when she won, so we could be together.
I thought of a perfect opportunity for us to grow our relationship, we could move in, we would have each other, I can’t pick go Elara, if she chooses the UK, I will stand by her, I will make sure she is happy and we will make this work.
I could barely pay attention to what Coach Laim was saying, when we heard the bell.
Assembly at this fucking time.
I hate unnecessary announcements, I had a feeling it was about our graduation, it was something they always do, a tradition, pizza for the whole school, calling the names of all the graduation students, and the prom committee will make a quick announcement.
—-
Elara settled on a chair away from mine, I wish I could hold her, I wanted this nightmare to be over, she sat beside Clara, and her two friends. Last night she was vulnerable and did something I have been thinking of doing, standing up against my parents, yelling at my dad to stop controlling our lives.
I’m a coward.
All that is going to change soon
“Good afternoon everyone.” Principal Heather smiled. “As per the traditions, pizza will be given out, but today is going to be a bit different, before I get one of the teachers to mention the names of all the students that will be a part of graduation, I would like to make an important announcement, this is something that has not happened for the last five years.” She smiled
My eyes flickered to Elara, she was focused on the little announcement as I started at her.
“We have a student graduating early this year, she has the grades, she has everything ready, and she will be joining the seniors for their graduation and their prom, words can’t describe how happy I am to announce her name, when I found out some time ago, I informed her parents how thrilled and so was she.”
Elara’s eyes widened in shock, and she stared at Principal Heather, causing me to stare back at her with the same emotions.
“What’s going on? Who is the student? She has to be from Elara’s class.”
“Everyone please give a round of applause for my favorite student, Elara Quinn.” She yelled.
No. It can’t be.
She would tell me if she was graduating.
“Elara can you stand up?”
Elara didn’t; instead, she turned to look at me, I caught a glimpse of remorse in her eyes when she stood up and everyone clapped
My heart skipped a beat
I felt like my world crumbled.
My mind blanked, and the sound of the claps sounded a lot louder in my ears.
She lied, why did she lie to me? How long has she known she will be graduating with us? Why did she never feel the need to tell me?
My fist clenched, I felt my feet tapping against the ground, and I was tempted to head out of the room, but I didn’t. I needed to have control, the last thing I need is every attention to be on me.
I could barely focus on what anyone was saying, until I heard the bell again and I rushed out.
Despite the cool airflow in my car, an ache burned through my chest.
She is leaving in a month or so, she didn’t tell me. I had imagined we had gotten past any of that, she yelled at me for not telling her about Zara meeting me in the locker room and she ended up doing this.
I need to leave
Elara’s POV.
Oh no.
No no no.
Everyone came up to me to congratulate me, I could barely pay attention, Landon had walked in the moment the bell rang, I didn’t care for the flowers, I didn’t care for their words, I needed to be with him.
This is not how I wanted him to find out, fuck, I didn’t even think of the graduation announcement. I messed up badly and I need to find a way to fix it. I need to speak to him.
“Girlll.” Nathan smiled. “You are graduating in a month, I am emotional, I always imagined we would all do it together, and we will have fun before graduation.”
“I know, I’m sorry I need to go, I have something I need to take care of.” I breathed out, I didn’t care if anyone would see me when I made my way toward the locker room when I stopped in my tracks.
What am I doing? I’m going to mess things up, I already have one thing to deal with.
I waited till the end of the day and I found out, he had left a while ago, he left without seeing me.
Fuck.
“I can’t go to his home unannounced, I don’t know where to find him, I need to speak to him, he is not answering his phone or even my texts, I am…” A breath falls off my lips as I stare at Clara.
He did reply to one text, where he said he needs a little space.
She dragged me back to her home, her parents will be out of the town for a day, leaving just the two of us.
“Want me to text you?” She asked and I shook my head. “I can make up an emergency, I know it’s more lies but it will get him here and you can speak to him, you can have your fight in the house, don’t worry about me, my ears will be blocked but no make-up sex in my living room.”
An emergency.
He will be pissed.
Another lie.
I can’t go the whole day without speaking to him, I won’t be able to sleep and I need to know we are okay, at least know we are on the verge of being okay.
“No.” I breathed out
Hours passed and there was no message from Landon, when I mumbled a curse against my lips, it was a little after eight in the evening.
“Call him.”
Clara smiled, I watched as she called him, he didn’t pick up on the first ring, until she called a few times and he did, hearing his voice caused my heart to skip a beat.
My eyes widened in surprise, and my hands flew to my mouth as she spoke to him.
“Are you kidding me, that’s too much.”
“You said create a fake emergency and I did.”
“Yes like I got sick or I am having severe period cramps but definitely not what you said to him, it would’ve had him worried, he could. Fuck Clara.” I yelled.
“You asked and you get what I give, you didn’t specify and it got him running here didn’t it, now go away, go downstairs and wait for him, lock the house if you have to, so that's why he will be forced to solve this.” She stated
That didn’t sound half bad. I don’t want us to be like my parents, I don’t want to upset him and never apologize for it, I don’t want time to solve this, I want us to do it.
“Fine.” I breathed out.
I hope he is not too pissed when he finds out the truth.
