Chapter 202 Epilogue

Chapter 202 Epilogue
Brie sat curled on the sofa, her hands resting gently on her rounded belly as she watched the huge TV screen. Eight months gone, she carried not one but two lives within her — twin girls who had already begun to make their presence known with fierce kicks.

The door opened, and Alex stepped inside. His eyes softened the moment they landed on her. Without hesitation, he crossed the room and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. His hand slid to her bulging tummy, resting there with reverence.

He bent down, pressing a kiss to her belly. His voice was playful, tender. “How are my girls?”

Brie laughed, her eyes sparkling. “Kicking. We missed you last night.”

Alex kissed her lips, lingering, his voice apologetic. “I’m sorry I got back late. I didn’t want to wake you when I came in.” He was in the middle of the launch of another quarter of a financial year, and it was taking a whole lot of his time. But despite all these, Alex made it a ritual to come home every night.

Brie sighed, leaning into his embrace. “I saw the news about Sienna and Brad. I can’t believe it’s already over.”

“Me too. Although Brad was able to wriggle his way out. He got a reduced sentence because his lawyers struck a deal, claiming his men had acted on their own, coupled with his alibi checking out. And since none of his men came forward, it was difficult to prove otherwise.”

Brie’s brows furrowed, her heart tightening. “That should count for something, I hope—” she let out a sigh, placing a hand over his.

Alex nodded grimly.

Brie looked down at her hands; small shadows played under her eyes as her brows furrowed in thought.

“Hey, look at me. He can’t do anything to you now. I won’t let anything happen to you and our girls, I promise.” His hand brushed his cheek, stroking her gently.

Brie looked up at him, her voice soft. “I’m a little worried, still. Do you think Sienna might take the insanity plea? She did look unstable.”

Alex’s jaw clenched. “She won’t. That would be a problem if she tried to plead for a reduced sentence. If she were going to plead insanity, her lawyers should have opted for it from the beginning, but she had been too lost in her head, and it blew up in her face. And even if she did manage to, she would still be locked up. That’s what’s most important.”

Brie sighed. “I truly hope so. The whole incident still feels so fresh in my mind.”

Alex’s arms tightened around her. “I’ll protect you. Always.”

Brie looked at him with love, her voice steady. “I trust you.”

Suddenly, Brie gasped, her hand flying to her belly. Another kick — stronger this time. She laughed, her eyes wide. “They’re getting fiercer with their kicks now. They can’t wait to come out.”

Alex chuckled, his hand joining hers on her belly. “And I can’t wait to meet my lovely babies.”

He kissed her forehead, his voice filled with devotion. “I love you.”

Brie’s smile was radiant, her voice tender. “I love you too.”

The evening stretched gently around them, filled with quiet laughter and whispered promises. Alex finally showed her the nursery he had been quietly preparing. Little cute toys dangled in the air playfully over the cribs. He had told her he would handle everything and she should leave it to him. Seeing it now, she couldn’t help but feel delighted.

“It’s beautiful, Alex.” Brie felt tears slip down her face as she looked at the beautifully designed pink nursery.

“I’m glad you like it.” he kissed the top of her head. Then she laughed, teasing him about the cute pink baby monitors and his insistence on having matching colored pink slippers that went with the color of the room.

Settling in the comfort of their room after helping Brie with her bath and night routine, they lay side by side, reminiscing about how they met.

“…When I saw that live video, I was jealous. I thought I was going to lose you to him.”

“And I was so sad, I thought you were playing me back then. You were playing the role of fiancé to your ex.”

“I was stupid,” he answered, and they both laughed. Alex leaned close, then slowly kissed her. The moment became charged, desires slowly building.

“Alex,” Brie let out a delightful gasp, feeling his arousal with her hands. “I’m close to my due date.”

His brow arched playfully. “Which is why you need me more.”

“Alex,” Brie was laughing so hard now. Alex feigned confusion. “It was the doctor’s opinion, remember?”

Brie gave him a meaningful look as she sat on top of him, and he winked, a playful smile curved his lips. “Trust me, I’ll take it slow and easy.”

When she called his name, it was driven by ecstasy. And Alex, his gaze was unwavering, brimming with love at the woman who was now his wife and mother of his two beautiful kids.

The end.
