Chapter 194 The Summit
Chapter 194 The Summit
Applause thundered in the air the moment Alex walked up the stage in the grand hall. The grand hall of the event hall shimmered with bright light. The halls were a shadow of white and yellow tones, a reflection of the golden hues from the chandeliers. The atmosphere screamed class and sophistication, and the entire air buzzed with anticipation. Executives, investors, and employees filled the room, their faces alight with expectation.
When Alex stepped onto the stage, a hush fell. He stood tall, his black suit immaculate, his expression calm yet resolute. Brie watched from the front row, her heart swelling with admiration. When he spoke, she felt her heart flutter. She couldn’t believe the handsome-looking man commanding so much respect with a powerful aura was her man. His gaze lingered on her for a moment, and they exchanged a small smile.
It had been four months since he proposed. Four months of intense work, late nights, plans, meetings, preparations, and here they were. They had succeeded in meeting up to their end of the bargain according to the contracts with their investors. It was no small feat. Brie was super proud. Her perception of Alex had grown more profound. He was not just determined in business; he was also the most caring and doting lover. He never toyed with her needs and still found time amidst their busy schedule to take them out on dates.
Alex’s voice carried across the hall, steady and strong as he spoke. “Four months ago, we faced a storm that threatened to sink us. But together, we rebuilt. We kept our word to our investors, to our brand, and we proved that Titan Group is not defined by setbacks, but by resilience.”
The room erupted in applause. The sound echoed like thunder, reverberating against the walls. Brie’s smile widened, her eyes glistening. She clapped until her palms stung, pride radiating from her.
Amber and Shawn, seated nearby, joined in the applause. Amber had moved in with Shawn about the same time Brie finally moved in with Alex, their own love story blossoming alongside. Alex had invited them personally, wanting his new friends to witness this victory. Any friends of Brie were now his.
As the applause subsided, Alex concluded his speech with a promise: “This is only the beginning. Titan Group will continue to rise, stronger than ever.”
He stepped down from the stage, his gaze immediately finding Brie. She rose to meet him, her smile luminous. He slipped his arm around her waist, drawing her close. He was not hiding their love. Brie, full of pride and love in her eyes, placed her hand against his chest, her diamond ring catching the light in the process. Their love was strong now, unshaken by trials.
“That was amazing, babe.” Brie smiled at Alex, who in turn planted a soft kiss on her lips. Employees were used to Brie and Alex now. He was unapologetic about public displays of affection. Despite his persistence in moving her to his floor and offering her a different position, she had insisted on her current role, insisting she still had a lot to learn.
Amber leaned toward Shawn, whispering, “She’s glowing differently.” Shawn nodded, his arm draped casually around her shoulders.
After the event, the crowd mingled, voices buzzing with excitement. Jeff approached, his expression warm. He had come to terms with Alex and Brie’s relationship, the bitterness of the past quietly replaced with acceptance. Although he was still hung up on Brie, he had come to terms with the fact that she was in love with his brother.
“Congratulations, Bro,” Jeff said, extending his hand.
Alex nodded, his grip firm. “Thank you, brother.”
They shared a brotherly moment before he turned to Brie, his smile genuine. “And congratulations to you too, Brie.”
She responded warmly, her voice soft but sincere. “Thank you, Jeff. It means a lot.”
The moment was brief but significant, a quiet acknowledgment of peace.
Soon after, Adam, Xander, and Caleb joined them. Their faces glowed with pride as they congratulated Alex and Brie.
“You’ve done it,” Adam said, his tone filled with admiration. “Titan Group is back on its feet, and the tech market is buzzing.”
Xander added, “Your leadership has set a new standard. Everyone’s talking about it.”
Caleb chimed in, “To success.”
“To success,” they chorused.
After a few rounds of chatter and business conversation, Adam finally spoke, steering the conversation to something important for his family. “Brie, don’t forget the invitation to Germany for my Grandfather’s birthday party. We’d be honored to have you and Alex.”
Brie smiled, her eyes flickering to Alex. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
Adam nodded, satisfied, before the three men drifted back into the crowd.
Later that night, after the summit had ended and the applause had faded into memory, Alex and Brie returned to his penthouse home. They had been staying here for months now. It was closer to work than the house by the beach.
The apartment was quiet, but it had a sense of life. They were home. Brie slipped off her heels, sighing with relief, while Alex loosened his tie, his eyes never leaving her.
She turned to him, her smile soft. “You were incredible tonight.”
He stepped closer, his hand brushing her cheek. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
Her breath caught as his thumb traced the curve of her jaw. “Alex…” she whispered, slowly melting under his touch.
Their eyes locked before their lips brushed in a slow dance that was as old as time. “I love you,” he murmured shortly after breaking off the kiss.
“I love you.”She smiled, and within the same breath let out a gasp. “Alex,” she was giggling now as Alex lifted her in his arms in a bridal style with a look that promised pleasure.
