Chapter 41 Love in different languages

Chapter 41 Love in different languages
Lucian's POV:

Waking up to receive a call that Sonia had been transferred to another department was not on my bucket list, and the look of shock on my face didn't fully capture how I felt at that moment.

“What do you mean, Daniel? Who initiated the transfer process? Who had the audacity to do that behind my back?” I growled on the call, my fists twisting into a ball.

Daniel sighed, he was probably exhausted from solving different problems daily. “Your half-brother, Gawin. I heard he was in charge of the transfer. He took her to his marketing department and threatened the senior directors to keep it a secret,” he said.

“Gawin?” I furrowed my brows, surprised. “What is he doing in my company? Who gave the marketing department to him?”

Daniel seemed to be moving around, because the line was cracking. “Your father gave him the position yesterday. It was late at night, I tried informing you but there was no response,” he said, and I hummed softly. Indeed last night I wasn't at home, I was in a bar, trying to get over my feelings for Sonia.

I paused, gathering my thoughts. “Where is Sonia right now? Any idea?”

Daniel sneezed, and I heard a husky voice in the background. He wasn't alone, I arched my brows. This was weird.

“I spoke with Clara, hours ago, Sonia should be in the company now,” he answered, and I nodded.

“Are you alright? Cough twice if you need my help?” I murmured under my breath, and Daniel chuckled. We've been friends for over five years so hearing me worry must have cracked him up.

“Are you worried about me right now?” He asked with a playful voice, and I scoffed.

“Daniel, who is that?” The person with him asked, and I squeezed my face. The voice sounded familiar but I couldn't place my hand on the person.

“Seems like you've gotten yourself into some serious shit,” I scoffed, and Daniel burst into laughter.

“Is there anything else you need? If not I will see you in the office,” Daniel said, and I furrowed my brows, this was the first time he was cutting the call on me. “And, Lucian, be very careful, don't destroy anything, wait patiently for me,” he advised, and I scoffed.

I was about to reply when the call was suddenly hung. I have nothing against Daniel being in a relationship, and I've always accepted him for his identity. But my revenge was the most important thing to me, and Daniel had always been a big part of it, so I didn't want anything to ruin or come in-between my plan.

This was not the right time to think about Daniel, so I grabbed my things and left the room. My driver had not arrived, and I had to drive myself to the office. When I got there, a lot of workers were talking about a bastard heir, and I froze. Gawin was really bent on ruining me, wasn't he? His method amused me, and I understood that even the smallest scorpion was capable of causing harm, I could either kill it or tame it.

I hastened my foot steps, paying no attention to the worker's greetings. When I got to the front of the building leading to the marketing department I saw Gawin laughing with Sonia, and my face twisted like I'd just tasted a sour lemon.

“Gawin? How dare you?” I growled, and I could swear my voice echoed in the entire company.

Gawin stood there shining his teeth like a clueless fool. “Oh, the man of the hour is here,” he murmured, and said something else that I was unable to hear.

I swiftly moved closer to him and pulled Sonia away from his side. “Are you alright? Did he hurt you?” I asked her with a worried voice.

A little crowd had begun to form around us, but a death stare from me sent all of them away.

“No, I'm fine,” Sonia said with raised brows. She looked like she didn't understand what was going on, and the look on Gawin's face showed that he enjoyed the chaos he had created.

“You bastard! How dare you!” I growled at him, but he chuckled, unfazed.

“What did I do wrong, brother? Also, you shouldn't be cursing in front of a delicate girl like Sonia,” Gawin said, acting like an obedient brother, painting a good picture of himself in front of Sonia.

Sonia seemed to believe his act, and she shifted away from me. “Mr. Lucian, we shouldn't be doing this here. Everyone is watching us,” she said to me with a blank expression, and I wasn't sure if she was uncomfortable by my presence.

Gawin nodded in agreement. “You're right, Sonia, dear. We shouldn’t wash out dirty lingeries in public, it is bad behavior in front of our employees.”

“Dear?” My lips curved, my eyes wandering from Gawin to Sonia. “When did you guys become so comfortable around each other?” I looked at them suspiciously, and I became worried for Sonia's safety.

Sonia didn't reply, she looked like she didn't want to talk about this in the public anymore, so I reluctantly paused and led them to my office. My mind was fixed on Sonia and how safe she looked around Gawin. I was even starting to blame myself for not telling her to ignore him. Has she forgotten how he threatened us with our sextape?” I wondered.

Gawin sat down comfortably on the visitor’s seat, he looked happy, like his plan was coming true. While Sonia stood by the door, a ghostly expression on her face.

“What is going on between you two? Are you hiding something from me, Sonia?” I asked my wife.

Gawin smiled broadly, and turned to face Sonia. He gave her a look, like he was trying to tell her to keep a secret.

“Sonia and I have a deep relationship. We are so comfortable around each other and we-”

Sonia looked flustered, and her cheeks turned red. “Gawin, what are you saying?” She stammered, clearly shy.

All of this was hard for me to take in, and I began to think wild. “Wait a minute! Are you cheating on me with him?” I asked before I could tame my tongue, and Sonia froze, while Gawin burst into taunting laughter.
