Chapter 830 Ordinary Daily Life
Chapter 830 Ordinary Daily Life
Eddy was eight months old.
William was busy with Essence's work, running back and forth between Regal City and Emerald City.
After finishing that short drama series, Thalia has some rare time off.
Eddy crawls all over the house, trying to stuff everything he sees into his mouth and chew on it.
The nanny follows him around all day, not daring to let her guard down for a second.
This morning, Thalia comes downstairs in a long dress, about to head into the dining room, when she hears a cat's terrible screeching from the hallway.
Along with Eddy's repeated "No! No!"
Thalia walks over, a bit puzzled.
What she sees is shocking.
He's sitting on the floor, grabbing the cat's head and trying to shove it in his mouth.
An angry shout rings out. "Eddy!"
Thalia rushes over in a few quick steps and slaps his hand away. The silly cat, as if rescued from certain death, shoots away and disappears in a flash.
"You put everything in your mouth — now you're trying to eat the cat too?"
After being scolded, Eddy pouts and starts bawling.
While crying, he still reaches out his hands for Thalia to pick him up.
"Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown is calling," Fallon stands nearby holding the phone, watching her carefully.
She really doesn't dare get involved in this mess.
These two have such a powerful ability to hurt each other.
Thalia holds the child with one hand and impatiently takes the phone with the other.
The deafening crying reaches William's ears, accompanied by Thalia's threatening voice. "Go ahead, cry. Keep crying. Cry some more and I'll stuff you in the phone."
Eddy's crying stops instantly.
William feels a bit helpless about Thalia's temper, but he has to admit - Eddy responds to exactly this approach.
A dozen words from anyone else can't compare to one threat from Thalia.
"What's wrong?" the man asks in a hoarse voice.
Hearing his dad's voice, Eddy pouts, about to cry.
Thalia holds the phone on speaker and glares at him fiercely. "You dare cry? Try it!"
"He tried to stuff the cat's head in his mouth. Not only has he pulled out almost all of Cheesy's fur, now he won't even leave the cat's head alone."
"It's the oral phase — we need to respect children's developmental stages."
William believes in science.
"Respecting him means keeping the cat alive first!"
"If you think I'm too harsh, then take him away," Thalia snaps.
"I didn't say that," William quickly explains.
"Don't get yourself all worked up," William sighs. "Amara is coming this afternoon to take you to the doctor. Remember to go, no excuses."
"I'm drowning in medicine already."
"Do you still want to live? Have you forgotten what the dizziness felt like?" After giving birth, Thalia feels completely drained. She gets dizzy when standing up from squatting, and her legs go weak when she gets up at night.
A twenty-something body feeling like sixty.
It took months of medication to see some improvement.
Being lectured by William, she's a bit annoyed. "William, you don't come home, but you're really good at remote controlling people."
.............
For Eddy's first birthday, William throws a small party.
No outsiders invited, just close friends and family.
When Eddy does the drawing lots ceremony, he grabs a calligraphy brush.
Vaughn laughs. "Looks like he'll be a writer in the future."
Daniel chimes in. "So Mr. Brown's great fortune won't have anyone to inherit it?"
Mr. Brown declares generously. "No problem, as long as he's happy."
As long as he's happy.
This statement gets proven wrong before Eddy even grows up.
Every time William tells himself to be a patient father.
Eddy ruthlessly proves him wrong.
First, he destroys the flowers and plants in the yard, mixing dish soap with water and pouring it on the ornamental trees, killing a whole yard full of trees.
Then, when Thalia isn't home, he turns her vanity table into a complete mess.
Expensive face cream used to wipe tables.
Over a hundred lipsticks taken out for drawing.
The gray-white cat becomes multicolored under his hands - nail polish, lipstick, blush, eyebrow pencil —the cat gets blamed for all the colors.
Thalia spends the day happily having afternoon tea with Evelyn.
When she comes home, she nearly faints from anger.
She calls William on her phone, telling him to get his ass home immediately.
Every time he rushes back, he sees Eddy kneeling properly on the carpet, while Thalia either holds tea to calm down or a wine glass to numb herself.
"Take him away, or today either he'll make me die of anger, or I'll strangle him."
William looks at the mess throughout the house and doesn't dare try to smooth things over.
He quickly has Finn send Eddy to stay with Vaughn for a few days, to let Thalia cool off.
............
Eddy is one and a half years old.
Evelyn gives birth to a daughter.
Thalia feels envious, praising how soft, sweet, and chubby the girl is, never wanting to put her down.
Whenever she has free time, she goes to see Evelyn, looking happier with the little girl than with her own son.
"If you like her so much, have another one!"
"What if it turns out like Eddy again — would I even survive?"
Evelyn looks at her with a smile. "Just how much trouble does he cause to make you dislike him this much?"
Thalia takes out her phone, opens her photo album, and shows it to Evelyn.
A multicolored cat with a miserable expression appears on screen.
"New breed?"
Thalia is speechless. "That's Cheesy."
Evelyn asks, "Really?"
Thalia replies, "Really."
"Eddy did this?"
Thalia tosses her phone on the sofa behind her. "Who else could it be? Amara let William keep the cat for four or five years without ever saying she was worried, but once Eddy forced her to rent a place near the hospital and take the cat away."
"Why?"
"Afraid it would die at Eddy's hands."
Evelyn is speechless.
Ever since Eddy became a little terror, when Thalia isn't filming, she does two things.
Hiding out at Evelyn's place for peace and quiet, and going home to discipline her son.
For four or five days straight, Thalia doesn't even want to go home.
William has no choice but to pick her up after work every day.
Sometimes Thalia still doesn't cooperate and doesn't want to go back with him.
"They still need their couple time! Go home and I'll help you vent, be good."
"You said it yourself."
"I said it," William coaxes and cajoles until her mood finally settles down.
The couple returns home and gives Eddy a good beating from both parents.
They force him to clean up the mess bit by bit, staying up with him until three in the morning.
William lays down the rules. "Clean up your own things. If you don't clean up properly, they'll be thrown away. Once thrown away, don't expect to buy new ones."
Probably because it's William's first time getting physical, Eddy is intimidated and behaves for a few days.
At three years old, Thalia feels like she's about to escape to freedom.
She starts thinking about sending him to kindergarten.
She chooses an ordinary kindergarten close to home, not wanting him to be stuck in class divisions at such a young age.
On Eddy's first day of kindergarten, he can't stand the teacher's rules, but no one indulges him.
In frustration, he stands in the kindergarten and shouts, "My mom is Thalia..."
The teacher says, "Stop lying. The enrollment information says you only have a dad, no mom."
Eddy was puzzled.
He had no mom?
His mom was dead?
