Chapter 821 Can I Not Be Anxious?
Chapter 821 Can I Not Be Anxious?
Hannah stood in the study, watching through the gap between the study and bedroom as Elon dried his hair with a towel.
His posture was as upright as always.
As if their conversation just now hadn't stirred up any extra thoughts in him.
Thalia was indeed bright and pampered, with that bone-deep sense of being cherished that was impossible to look away from. Everything in the world became mere decoration in her presence. Whether it was the love from her family or from her husband, it was all enviably captivating.
It was something countless women envied their entire lives.
Any woman in her presence, whether from a good or bad family background, would feel somewhat inferior.
Throughout her life, she had her father, mother, husband, and family - all their love was something to be proud of.
Her virtues far outweighed any flaws. Looking at everything around her, you couldn't find a single imperfection.
No wonder Elon couldn't stop thinking about a girl like that.
Hannah put the photo back in the drawer, picked up another book, and went into the bedroom.
The bedroom was still the same as when Elon had lived there before.
No extra vanity table or random items. It was as if they had been prepared for divorce from the moment they got married.
The day after the 100-day celebration.
Brian arrived at Mistwood Hill early in the morning. When Thalia came out after washing up, she saw William half-leaning against the bed, hand covering his eyes, with a decadent, indulgent air surrounding him.
Thalia went into the bathroom, wrung out a towel, and came back to wipe his face. The cool sensation against his skin woke him up a bit.
The man's hands rubbed her waist, sliding down.
Thalia didn't even bother to swat him away, informing him coldly, "Brian's already waiting."
"Don't say I didn't warn you when you get yourself all worked up."
William let out a heavy sigh, took the towel from Thalia and tossed it on the bedside table, his tone firm. "First things first."
Thalia pushed him. "Brian's waiting downstairs."
"Let him wait!"
Downstairs, Brian was anxiously pacing.
He kept checking his watch - there was a meeting with city leaders at nine, and it was already eight. It took half an hour to drive from Mistwood Hill to the meeting location, plus they needed to account for rush hour traffic.
It was a live-broadcast conference - being late would look bad.
"Fallon, should you go up and check?"
"Please wait a bit longer, Mr. Brown knows what he's doing." In the morning, going upstairs to rush people - based on Fallon's years of experience at Mistwood Hill, it wasn't appropriate.
If he upset them, he could lose his job.
Brian paced anxiously in place.
Cold sweat kept breaking out at his temples.
In the morning, the bedroom went from calm to passionate, then from passionate back to calm.
Thalia lay sprawled on the bed, watching the previously exhausted man emerge from the walk-in closet, freshly showered and properly dressed.
She muttered, "You torture me every day."
William came to the bedside with his tie, pulled Thalia up to help him tie it. "So what?"
She finished tying the tie, pushed it up with her fingers, and said viciously, "I should just strangle you with it."
"If you strangle me, where are you going to find another man like me?"
Thalia rolled her eyes. "Get lost."
William smiled and bent down to kiss her. "Yes, ma'am, honey."
"What's the rush?" William came downstairs, seeing Brian pacing like an ant on a hot pan, unable to stand still, and scolded him lightly.
Brian thought, how could he not be anxious?
"Mr. Brown, the helicopter is ready," Finn came in to inform them.
Brian was stunned.
Taking advantage of William walking out, he quietly asked Finn, "Helicopter?"
"I don't know what you're so anxious about," William said coldly.
Brian was speechless.
.............
"Take a look at this script."
"It's a ten-episode revenge mini-series. The story is about a ten-year-old girl who died. The court ruled it a natural death, but it wasn't. Her mother found out who really caused her daughter's death and hunts down the killer for revenge."
"At the end of the script, everyone dies."
Thalia flipped to the last page of the script: [Jumps to her death.]
"She dies too?"
"Yes!"
"Everyone dies in this."
Isla poured her a cup of tea. "So, interested?"
"Sure."
"Let me warn you first - the image isn't pretty. A mother who's lost her mind won't look glamorous. Don't complain to me later about the dirty makeup."
"Don't worry." She'd been free for so long. If she was going to commit, she needed to come back with a bang.
Otherwise, in the entertainment industry where beautiful women were a dime a dozen, what would she have to stand on?
"Let's go out tonight and have some fun!" Thalia propped her chin on her hand, looking at Isla with blinking, expectant eyes.
"Where?" Isla asked.
"Did you ask Mr. Brown?"
Ever since Thalia got pregnant, Isla had increasingly noticed that William's deeply hidden dominance and control had gradually revealed itself after gaining a great sense of security.
His need for control, possessiveness, and exclusivity had risen infinitely in places Thalia couldn't see or touch.
He wasn't some perfect gentleman - his personality flaws were covered up by his money and status. Unless you looked closely, you couldn't see them.
And Thalia was blind to it all.
"I'm not going out to mess around, why do I need to tell him?"
Isla looked at her, wanting to say something but holding back.
Being an observer had to be done at the right time.
She couldn't follow in Layla's footsteps.
With William's personality, whoever was bad for his marriage became a sacrifice.
Going along with Thalia's wishes and keeping her happy still had some merit.
"Don't say I didn't warn you."
That evening, Isla organized a gathering - a company dinner.
They booked a floor at a resort villa. After dinner, they moved to the bar street.
The whole company - several dozen people - poured in, instantly filling the newly opened bar to capacity.
At 9:30, William had just left a business dinner.
He picked up his phone and saw Thalia's message saying they'd moved to another venue.
Another venue?
William's heart tightened.
Knowing Thalia as he did, it probably wasn't anywhere good.
He called, but no one answered.
He looked coldly at Brian in the passenger seat. "Call Isla and ask where they are."
Brian made the call and hung up, looking at the address Isla sent via message. "Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown's company had a dinner today. The second round is at a lounge bar."
"Drive there."
The car stopped at the entrance to the bar street - they could only walk from there. In the January cold with biting wind, William wore a black coat, his face slightly dark, his stride determined, followed by three to five bodyguards. Looking through the night, he had the presence of a mob boss on the street.
"Mr. Brown..."
When Isla received Brian's call, she already sensed trouble and went out to meet them personally.
