Chapter 815 My Dad and His Mom Are Both Nothing Good

Late summer turning to early autumn, the weather was getting cold .

After work, Grace came back to Mistwood Hill to keep Thalia company on a walk in the yard, with Fallon following far behind.

Walking behind Thalia while keeping an eye on the cat.

The cat was pretty smart - ever since Thalia got pregnant, whenever it wasn't locked in its cage, it would stick close to Thalia and wouldn't leave no matter how much you tried to shoo it away.

"Did William tell you about Essence?"

"Yeah," Thalia responded to Grace.

"When are you planning to go to Regal City?"

"After i put to birth !"

"When William goes to Regal City, what will you do? Stay in Emerald City with my baby?"

Thalia was casual about it. "Go with him, what else? Can't have the kid growing up with a mom but no dad, right?"

Grace looked at her. "It's good that you think this way."

"Worried my dad's influence will last forever?"

"More than worried." Grace sighed. "When you marry someone who's rich but has all kinds of other flaws, you feel both grateful and scared at the same time."

"Grateful you found a decent man and have a decent life, where money can satisfy all your desires. But at the same time, you worry that your child will inherit his bad traits, won't be lucky enough to have a decent life like yours. Being a wife and being a mother is completely different."

"But luckily, you don't need to worry about your child turning out bad. At least for now, William is good - his character, education, sense of responsibility and duty are all top-notch among men."

"Yeah, he's pretty good," Thalia nodded, acknowledging William's excellence. "But what if it skips a generation?"

"My dad and his mom are both pieces of work."

Grace rolled her eyes. "The biggest regret of my life is giving you a mouth when I gave birth to you."

Grace didn't want to talk to her anymore and turned to head back to the villa.

Thalia followed behind with a carefree smile. "Don't go!"

"Mom!"

"Thalia, just you wait! Someone will deal with you eventually and get revenge for me."

"Who would dare?"

Thalia's words came back to bite her not long after. Nine years into their marriage, when the kid started school, the teacher got so upset she left comments on Thalia's work Facebook, telling her not to just focus on her career but also take care of her child. Because of this, Thalia even got mocked by a host on a show. She was so angry that on the way home she told John to speed up, and went straight to discipline the child when she got home.

William came home and had just gotten out of the car.

He saw Grace coming out of the woods behind the yard, fuming.

Thalia followed behind with her belly, all smiles.

One was furious, the other happy as could be.

"What happened?" William went up to meet them and asked Grace with concern.

Grace glared at him angrily. "I'm not your mom!"

William was puzzled.

"Control your wife."

Grace went inside, and only then did Thalia walk over, looking at him with a playful smile.

"How did you upset your mom?"

Thalia tilted her head. "Guess?"

Harper was close to retirement, with only handover work left. Every day at Mistwood Hill with nothing to do, she studied cooking and took over everything in the kitchen. The things she made were often a mess.

But Vaughn was good-tempered and indulged her, putting anything in his mouth as long as it wouldn't kill him, which made her more and more confident lately.

"William, you're back? Come try the roast chicken I made tonight."

Hearing this, Thalia's hair stood on end and she found an excuse to slip into the bathroom.

William didn't know the danger yet. He picked up a fork and took a bite, pressed his lips together, frowned, walked to the dining room, pulled out two tissues and spit it out.

"Not good?"

"Harper, professional things should be left to professionals," William said tactfully.

Harper had been cooking for several days and was being criticized for the first time. She pinched a piece with her bare hand and put it in her mouth.

Bitter and salty.

"Your dad said it was good!"

William replied, "Maybe I'm just more honest."

Harper was speechless.

"You're done for, you're done for, William."

Thalia came out of the bathroom, looking at him and shaking her head repeatedly, even patting her belly. "Baby, you're about to lose your dad."

"Nonsense..."

"William, come here." Before he could finish his sentence, Vaughn came in from the backyard, wearing reading glasses, holding a book, looking grim - clearly just been scolded by someone.

"What's wrong?"

Vaughn picked up the book and threw it at him. It hit his shoulder and was about to fall when he caught it, carefully folding the page Vaughn was reading and placing it on a nearby wicker chair.

"Harper has worked hard her whole life, been at work her whole life. It's normal to feel a sense of loss. She finally found a hobby recently. If she likes doing it, just let her. Let her find something to do, better than feeling bored. Why did you have to discourage her?"

William finally understood - everyone in this house had a temper, and they all picked on him because he was good-tempered, taking turns.

"Was I discouraging her? I was just being honest."

Vaughn laughed in anger. "Fine, fine, fine. I'll go tell Thalia right now that she's gotten fat and ugly since getting pregnant."

William was stunned.

"Are you really my dad?"

"Are you really my son?"

"Fine, fine, fine, I get it."

They were all suffering, no need to hurt each other.

...

"How did it go?" As soon as William came in from the backyard, Thalia eagerly came up to him.

The man naturally put his arm around her waist and rubbed it. "How did what go?"

"Are you waiting for me to get scolded? Or waiting for me to get hit?"

"Both scolded and hit would be even better."

The man lowered his head and tapped her nose. "So heartless."

Thalia hooked her arms around his neck, about to kiss him back when a cough interrupted them.

Amara awkwardly rubbed her nose. "How about I go in and you two can continue?"

William thought to himself that he'd kick all these people out sooner or later!
