Chapter 477 Thalia and William Enter the House Together
The meal was going well, and Vaughn said he wanted to drink. Normally, Harper would stop him - not that she wouldn't let Vaughn drink, but she felt bad for William. The drinking at business dinners couldn't be helped, but having to drink at home too was hard on the body.
But today, knowing Vaughn had been in a bad mood lately, she didn't stop him. Instead, she went to get the wine by herself.
Their homemade grape wine went down easy, tasted like juice, but had high alcohol content.
Getting drunk without realizing it was the norm.
"Want to try some?" As soon as the wine jar was opened, Thalia caught a whiff of the rich aroma.
She sniffed and stared at William's glass for a long while, unable to look away.
Thalia nodded.
Amara opened her mouth to object, but William's cold glance shut her down.
After several rounds, half the jar gone, Thalia's mind was starting to get fuzzy.
"Drunk?" William held the person leaning against his shoulder, asking gently.
Thalia shook her head. "No."
"Better not drink anymore. This wine hits hard - she'll have a terrible headache tomorrow morning," Harper advised, taking away Thalia's glass.
Thalia looked longingly at the glass still half-full of wine and reached to take it back. "No, I want to keep drinking."
Amara rubbed her forehead and temples. Great, she's drunk.
"You'll stay here tonight."
"I'll have the servants clean up the rooms."
William bent down and picked her up. "No need to trouble them."
The rooms were cleaned daily anyway - no point wasting effort cleaning them again.
"William, who treats you better - your mom or me?" Thalia asked drunkenly, hooking her arms around William's neck, tongue nearly tied but still chattering away.
"You treat me better."
"Then call me mom."
"Call me mom, and I'll always protect you. Anyone who dares bully you, I'll take them down."
William was speechless.
The servant following them upstairs nearly stumbled on the stairs, hearing Thalia's nonsense. Coming to her senses, she quickly went upstairs, entered the bedroom, and pulled back the covers as William laid Thalia on the bed.
The servant was about to help undress Thalia.
William stopped her. "You can go. I'll do it."
"Do you love me?"
"I love you."
"How much?"
"Very much."
Thalia remembered something. Lying in bed, drunk and confused, she grabbed William's tie and pulled him close, breath full of alcohol. "That night when Walter cheated - you had Nicholas get people to get me drunk, didn't you?"
William's heart skipped a beat. She knew?
How did she know?
"I saw you. Second floor of the bar."
Their breaths close, William braced one hand on the bed, the other gripping her waist, breathing intertwined. "Since you knew, why did you go along with it?"
"Because..." Thalia's slender fingers traced his Adam's apple, that seductive look making every bone in William's body cry out.
"I wanted to taste what the man all the women in Emerald City are crazy about was like."
"After all..." Thalia leaned close to William, her lips brushing his earlobe, sending tingles through him, her breath sweet. "I've wanted you for a long time."
"Thalia, you're killing me..." William kissed her feverishly. Though their lips and teeth were tangled, he still felt parched, his whole body burning with heat he couldn't control.
The way Thalia looked - eyes hazy, full of moisture - had William completely in her grip.

"Where's Thalia?" When Layla saw the news, she lost it. She knew it - this trending topic that had been up all day wasn't really about William.
Sure enough, it had burned over to Thalia.
Even more infuriating, when she called Thalia, after being hung up on once, no one answered.
She immediately called Isla.
Isla had just gotten home. Hearing Layla's furious questioning, she didn't dare hide anything. "She went to the Brown Mansion with Mr. Brown for dinner tonight. She's probably still there. What's wrong?"
"Right now, immediately, go to the Brown Mansion and bring her out."
"They were photographed entering the Brown Mansion together. It's all over the trending topics."
Hearing this, Isla's legs went weak, and she sat down on the bench in the entryway. "Layla, I... I don't dare."
William going to the set to wait for Thalia tonight, then bringing her back to the Brown Mansion - the whole thing reeked of scheming and manipulation. It was clearly a trap dug for Thalia to fall into. If she rushed over now and ruined his plans, William would kill her.
Isla didn't know William had been getting Thalia drunk at the dinner table. If she had known, she'd probably give him a mental thumbs up.
William had Thalia completely trapped in his scheme to make their relationship official.
Layla was furious. Everyone in the office had come back to work overtime because of this trending topic.
Only the person involved couldn't be reached.
After thinking it over, Layla weighed her options and contacted Amara.
She wanted to find Thalia, but all Amara said was, "Thalia drank too much. She's completely out of it. Even if you find her, it won't help."
"I'd advise you not to struggle. When William wants to do something, he gets it done. This rumor is going to become fact!"
"Drank too much? Who did it? Don't tell me Mr. Brown got her drunk?"
Layla broke out in a cold sweat.
Worthy of being Thalia - first time drunk, she slept with William; second time drunk, she gave him official status. If there's a third time, will she end up pregnant?
...
Morning, in the Brown Mansion bedroom, Thalia struggled up from bed like a worm, holding her head as if it might split in four.
"My head..."
"William..." Thalia reached out to push him, but the moment she touched him, she pulled her hand back - he was burning up.
"William? Wake up!"
Thalia felt the man's forehead and gasped. Not even bothering with shoes, she walked to the other end and knocked on Amara's door.
