Chapter 448 What Does It Have to Do with Me?
"Did Layla call you?"
"Not yet. She probably thinks I'm still streaming. What's up?"
Thalia was squatting on her chair, eating noodles, with a variety show playing on the iPad in front of her.
William asked, "Do you know Sabrina?"
Thalia raised an eyebrow. "How do you know her? She was a new artist I signed, but she left the company because she had bad intentions."
William told Thalia about what happened on Rainey's end.
As Thalia listened, she actually nodded. "If it's her, I can understand. After all, we didn't part on good terms."
"This girl has bad intentions. To become famous, she was willing to sell out her peers. She just entered the entertainment industry as an intern. If she manages to establish herself in the industry, who knows what trouble she'll drag me into."
"Nip it in the bud?" William asked.
Fallon came up with dinner, and they stopped talking. Thalia quietly ate her noodles while William elegantly cut his steak. The contrast made them look like a commoner and an aristocrat.
Watching this scene, Fallon couldn't help but sigh.
When a man reaches a high position with power and money, he can make any demands of the women around him—demanding she be dignified, virtuous, considerate of the bigger picture, understanding, and act like a refined lady. But William didn't. He respected Thalia as she was, as if he could equally accept every unique life.
Thalia's casual appearance and disregard for her image seemed completely insignificant to him.
William never made demands of Thalia.
"Do you want to try my noodles?"
Between the slurping sounds and the clinking of silverware in the dining room came Thalia's question. William looked up to see Thalia's eager eyes.
He cut a piece of steak and held it out to her.
Thalia tried to take it with her fork, but the man dodged.
She pouted and opened her mouth to bite it.
Having gotten the steak, she was as happy as a fox, bobbing her head around and practically wagging an imaginary.
Just by watching her, William's heart melted completely. "Thalia, do you know what makes you different from other wealthy heiresses?"
"I'm better looking than them."
William said, "You're more easily satisfied than them."
Thalia put down her fork. "Do you know how hard my life has been? To keep me alive to inherit my dad's estate and not get killed by those illegitimate children, my mom enrolled me in all kinds of martial arts classes starting from when I was six."
"Every day I'm alive is a bonus. How can I not be satisfied?"
Fallon thought, 'That rough? Learning martial arts at the age of six, no wonder her fighting skills are so strong.'
"Someone sent you an invitation to your house." Thalia had just finished eating and was in the living room digesting when she got a call from Grace.
"Whose?"
"Raymond and Elowen's." Grace only saw who it was from after opening the invitation.
"Who's the sender?"
"Raymond."
"Since when are you and Raymond close enough to receive their wedding invitation?"
"Do you think Elowen would invite me?"
Given Thalia and Elowen's relationship, even if Elowen invited her to the wedding, she'd definitely be trying to lure her there to kill her.
………………
"What do you want? Who are you?"
In Lumaria, Sabrina had just returned from the hotel pool, wearing a bathrobe.
She was about to take a shower when urgent knocking sounded at the door.
She opened it to find four or five tall, burly men standing there.
Sabrina panicked and asked what they wanted, but got no response.
"Who sent you?"
"Who sent us? Sabrina, don't you know very well?" The bodyguards stepped aside, revealing the man's face. James was eye-catching wherever he went. His mixed heritage features drew immediate attention, and his phoenix eyes had an enchanting quality even when just looking at someone.
"I don't know." Instinctively, Sabrina felt this man was dangerous. The murderous aura around him was too strong, suffocating.
"Don't know? Let me help you remember—a Hermès bag and a camera."
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't know what we're talking about? Then why are you hiding? Running all the way from Emerald City to Lumaria—quite capable, aren't you!"
Sabrina's heart was pounding. She'd done this, so Thalia could have definitely found out. She just didn't expect it to be this fast.
She'd only arrived in Lumaria yesterday, and today she was already caught.
James stood at the door staring at her. Seeing her try to close the door, he coughed slightly, and the bodyguard beside him immediately understood, reaching out to block it from being closed.
James pushed the door open and walked in. In a glance, he spotted a rare leather bag on the desk. Though he didn't know much about these things, he recognized the brand.
"A D-list celebrity with no real work can already afford such expensive bags? Sabrina, your sugar daddy is quite impressive!"
James picked up the bag with his fingertips, examining it. "What do you think would happen if your sugar daddy's wife found out about this?"
"Would she rush to Lumaria to teach you a lesson?"
"Tell me, at your young age, couldn't you do something better? Josh has plenty of everything including beautiful women. Girls in their early twenties like you are a dime a dozen around him. How long do you think you'll stay fresh to him?"
"You people in your position, with your privileged backgrounds, can of course say such things. But I'm not like you. I don't have a good background or a strong support system. If I follow the rules my whole life, I'll never get ahead." Sabrina looked at James, her words filled with anger and resentment. James listened and nodded. "That's true."
"But what does that have to do with me?"
Sabrina was speechless, staring at James in shock. The man walked over, lifted her chin with his hand, pulled her close, his light blue eyes fixed on her, almost hypnotic.
"If you want to blame something, blame yourself for doing too many bad things in your past life and not being born into a rich family in this one."
"You..."
This man was too arrogant.
James finished speaking and pushed Sabrina away, holding out his hand. Someone handed him a handkerchief, and he looked down to wipe his hands.
"You should be grateful you messed with Ms. Smith. If it were me, I wouldn't give you a second chance."
"What are you doing? Let me go, let me go! This is illegal!"
As James left, several men entered the room. Sabrina lost consciousness in her panic.
