Chapter 441 My Wife Loves Me, Why Should I Leave?
"How about I just leave this here for now?"
As Angelina spoke, she carefully placed what she was holding on the entryway table and tapped the document folder for William. "The hotel information sent over by the Jimenez family - remember to look at it."
"I'm heading out now."
This wasn't a good place to stick around at all. Angelina figured it was best to make herself scarce.
If she stayed, she'd definitely get caught in the crossfire.
Thalia's mind was full of William's words about breaking her pride. She was seething with anger, ready to explode, and had already decided to fight back. He kept saying he loved her, but did he only love someone obedient?
If she didn't obey, he wanted to break her?
"I'm your wife, not your pet cat that follows you around all the time. Even your cat has its aloof moments - how come I don't see you trying to break its pride?"
"You want to fight?" William let go of Thalia and walked toward the entryway.
Thalia was furious and grabbed William's arm. "You want to break me, and I can't even argue with you?"
"If you didn't try to push other women on me, I wouldn't argue with you either."
"Did I push anyone on you?"
"Didn't you? You already added her on WhatsApp. What's next, selling her my schedule?"
"Does assuming things about me give you a sense of accomplishment? Why can't it be that I want to keep women who have their eye on my husband, where I can watch them?"
William looked down at her. "So you're saying you're afraid another woman will steal me away?"
Thalia stubbornly replied, "What are you smiling about? We're fighting here!"
William felt great thinking that Thalia was worried about losing him.
He walked around Thalia to the entryway, picked up the document folder, and shook his head. "Not fighting anymore."
"You think you can just decide when we stop fighting?"
Thalia felt stuck - was he trying to suffocate her?
"Fighting hurts our relationship."
"Hurting a relationship requires having one in the first place. We don't have one."
"If we don't have a relationship, why are you afraid another woman will steal me away?"
"When did I say I was afraid another woman would steal you away?"
"Thalia, it's nothing to be ashamed of." William reached out and stroked her hair like he was petting a cat.
Thalia's anger deflated by half, and something in her brain got rattled.
"Get lost!"
"Not getting lost. Why would I leave when my wife loves me?"
"Have you no shame?"
"I can do without it."
..........
"Everyone needs to be extra careful at work today." First thing in the morning, Angelina warned the poor souls in the secretary's office to watch out for William.
Brian eagerly came over to Angelina. "What happened? Did Mr. Brown get dumped?"
"Probably, maybe, possibly - he was wielding a kitchen knife last night."
"Damn it! If Mr. Brown got dumped, how could he handle it? What if he gets traumatized? Oh no, if something happens to him, won't all of us lose our jobs?"
"No way, I need to warn everyone."
Brian ran into the secretary's office to prep everyone. When he came back out, he saw William walking in, looking refreshed and cheerful.
This didn't look like someone who'd been dumped at all.
When Thalia returned to the set, the director was extremely respectful to her.
His fawning smile made Thalia a bit uncomfortable. This director was famously cold and ruthless, treating everyone equally regardless of their status. In all their time filming, they hadn't fought only because Thalia was a good actress.
"How's your recovery? Are you okay now?"
"I'm fine."
The director nodded repeatedly. "That's good. Everyone on set has been worried about you. They wanted to visit, but Layla stopped them."
"As long as you're okay. If you feel unwell later, make sure to tell us right away. Don't push yourself."
"Thank you, director." Thalia bowed to the director, polite.
"I should be thanking you. This incident caused such a huge commotion outside, but your fans didn't do anything extreme."
Everyone knew that in the entertainment industry, fans were one of the most difficult things to deal with. Someone like Thalia, who became famous young and entered the industry early, had tons of fans, many of them still students. If they did something extreme, no one would know what to do.
A crew member nearby chimed in, "Yeah! Thalia's fans are known in the entertainment industry for being high quality."
Thalia smiled.
Before she could exchange pleasantries, the makeup artist started rushing her. "Go get your makeup done first."
As soon as Thalia turned around, Isla started complaining. "The director's got some nerve. We've been filming for so long, and he hasn't smiled at you as much as he did today."
"When there's profit involved, anyone can bow their head."
Thalia had just sat down in the makeup room when her phone rang.
Selene: [Thalia.]
Thalia sent back an emoji.
Selene: [Do you have time? Want to meet for afternoon tea?]
Thalia: [Can't, I'm filming on set these days!]
Selene felt a bit deflated reading this. So what those wealthy heirs said about Thalia being rich but still hardworking was true?
Here was the daughter of Emerald City's former richest person, working so diligently in the entertainment industry.
What did that make the rest of them who relied on their parents?
Selene: [Thalia, what does that make those of us who depend on our parents?]
Thalia sent a smug emoji and ended the conversation.
On the other end, Selene saw no reply and tossed her phone aside, glancing at the video playing on her iPad.
"Well? Did she reply?"
"Yeah, said she's on set," Selene said with a sigh.
Sophia was strategizing on the other end, her computer screen showing a search bar. If you looked closely, you could see she was currently searching for William.
Recently, she'd gone through every piece of news and every Facebook account related to William.
Sophia thought she must be crazy.
Otherwise, she wouldn't be so obsessed with learning about someone.
"If you ask me, don't wait for Thalia. When she's filming, it can take two or three months. By the time you wait that long, it'll be too late for everything."
Selene thought about it - that made sense.
"So what do you think I should do?"
"Ask your dad if he can get you an internship at the Celestia Group. Any position works! The closer you are, the better your chances!"
"How are you so smart?"
"For your lifelong happiness, I'm racking my brain here."
