Chapter 439: Weren't You Happy to Match Me with Other Women?

Chapter 439: Weren't You Happy to Match Me with Other Women?

Thalia seemed to understand and put down the wine glass in her hand. "I see! I can help you ask around from the side."

"Really?" Selene's face lit up.

Thalia nodded and even pulled out her phone. "Of course, want to add me on WhatsApp?"

"If it's convenient, I'll message you directly."

"Ms. Smith, who are you planning to ask?"

"Just Daniel, Nicholas, those people..."

Selene scanned and added Thalia on WhatsApp, then asked, "But I already asked Daniel and them, and didn't get any useful information."

Thalia accepted her friend request and put her phone in her bag. "You probably didn't use the right method."

"Ms. Smith, what's your good method?"

"My methods are pretty simple and direct."

"Like what?"

"Beat it out of them."

Selene was speechless.

Thalia put down her glass and stood up, looking at Selene. "I'll go ask around for you right now."

So quick?

Selene couldn't quite figure out what Thalia really meant.

"How did it go?" After seeing Thalia off, Selene went to find Zephyr, As soon as she closed the door, Zephyr asked.

"Didn't find out much, but their relationship should be better than ours, right? Thalia and Daniel seem to get along pretty well too."

"She and Daniel do get along well. They argue every time they meet, but after all these years there hasn't been any progress between them."

"Bickering lovebirds?"

Zephyr nodded. "Maybe. Last time I hinted around and asked Mr. Wilson, he said those two have known each other since they were kids. They used to fight together all the time when they were little, and Thalia often beat Daniel to a pulp."

Hearing this, Selene felt a bit uncomfortable. They were both girls, but Thalia's popularity in Emerald City was unmatched.

"As long as she and Mr. Brown don't have that kind of relationship, it's fine."

Zephyr nodded. "Be smart, don't be like Scarlett."

"I know."

"Is it okay that you haven't been back to school lately?"

"It's fine. If something comes up, Sophia will call me."

Hearing Sophia's name, Zephyr wanted to say something but held back.

...

"Go home."

"Not waiting for Mrs. Brown?"

Finn thought he heard wrong when he heard the angry voice from the back seat. Hadn't they been waiting here all this time just to go home with Thalia?

How did one phone call change everything?

"Are you deaf?" William was full of anger.

Finn didn't dare ask more. He had no business meddling in his boss's affairs. These two had tempers - one more explosive than the other, methods one more ruthless than the other.

The car drove all the way into Mistwood Hill. Just as they entered, a large Border Collie rushed out.

The guard walked over with a leash, looking at William helplessly. "Mr. Jackson had someone send this dog over. He said he's working hard for you abroad, and you must keep it alive no matter what."

William glanced at Finn.

Finn scratched his head. "Nicholas did say that."

Nicholas's dog had a pretty weird backstory. In college, he liked a girl and worked really hard to win her over. Turned out it was a package deal - the girl came with a dog that she had raised with her ex-boyfriend. Nicholas himself liked animals, so he kept it. But after graduation, the girl got into grad school abroad and left, abandoning both the dog and Nicholas. In the end, his ex-girlfriend's ex-boyfriend's dog became his beloved pet.

Recently, William had sent Nicholas abroad.

The Jacksons weren't really dog people, and with Nicholas away from home, the dog's life was in danger several times. Nicholas had no choice - nowhere else to send it, so he could only send it to Mistwood Hill. After all, William's place was huge!

And he was working for William!

William stared at the black and white Border Collie for a while. The big dog sensed his gaze and even stopped barking for a moment.

"Take it to the backyard." After William gave the order, he walked into the house with a cold face.

The guard looked at Finn, who waved his hand. "Take it to the backyard!"

The guard didn't dare delay. He waved for the Border Collie to come over and was just about to crouch down to leash the dog when a pink Bentley rushed in. With that pink color, they didn't need to see the license plate to know whose car it was.

Thalia angrily opened the car door and slammed it shut, ready to go in and settle accounts with William.

A big dog charged at Thalia. The guard had only half-fastened the leash when it broke free.

"Mrs. Brown..."

"Mrs. Brown..."

William had just entered the living room when he heard barking and screaming from the yard.

Without thinking much, he rushed out.

When he saw Thalia being chased around the car by the Border Collie, his steps stopped. He had forgotten that Thalia was afraid of dogs.

Thalia screamed, dodging. "Where did this dog come from? Get it away!"

Turning her head, she saw William standing there with one hand in his pocket, watching her with a smug smile on his lips. She got even angrier. "William, you bastard, are you even a man? I'm being chased by a dog, and you can still laugh? I curse you to be infertile."

"When you were just trying to set me up with other women, you seemed pretty happy and cheerful. Keep being happy, keep being cheerful! Why aren't you laughing now?"

"You bastard, don't tell me you didn't know what Zephyr wanted. You knew exactly what she meant, but you still went along with it. Are you cheap or what?"

"Woof woof woof."

"Help!" Thalia was in a mess.

In all her years, this was the first time she'd been chased by a dog. She dodged everywhere to avoid being knocked down by the dog. The key thing was, the dog wasn't really trying to bite her - it was playing with her like teasing a cat. But she was afraid of dogs!

"Mr. Brown?" Finn didn't dare move for a moment. After all, William hadn't moved, so they didn't dare move either.

"Don't move," the man ordered.

Hearing this, Thalia got even angrier. "Are you even a man?"

"William, you bastard."

"Help..."

William stood in the yard watching the show. Not only was he watching, but he even lit a cigarette, leisurely enjoying Thalia's embarrassment.

"Help..."

The man took a drag of his cigarette, tapped the ash in the air with his fingertip, and looked at Thalia smugly. "Want me to save you?"

"Cut the crap, hurry up."

"I can save you," but they seemed to be on different wavelengths. Thalia's cursing never bothered him. A man like William had only one goal - to achieve his objective.

"Beg me."
