Chapter 343 Mr. Brown Would Probably Thank You Directly in Bed
"This is what you told me to do—ask him for help. What good could that possibly do? If the Jimenez family ends up in his hands, it'll be ruined sooner or later." As soon as Michael left, Eileen couldn't help but start complaining.
Looking at the impatient expression on the person across from her.
She was so angry her head was buzzing.
The person wanted to offer some comfort but didn't know how. They just felt that the Jimenezes had way too strong a bias against Michael.
Early that morning, just as Thalia got up, Layla's call came in. "Someone sent 9,999 red roses to the company for you."
"Who?"
"Don't know who, but it definitely wasn't Mr. Brown."
"How do you know?"
Layla picked up the card and read the words to her. "Thank you, Ms. Smith."
"Someone like Mr. Brown—if he wanted to thank you, he'd probably do it directly in bed, not with this kind of trick." As Layla spoke, she tossed the card into the trash with disgust, called the office staff to break up the flowers, and distributed them to everyone's desks to brighten up the office.
Thalia had a pretty good idea who sent the flowers.
Did Michael think this would be enough?
He was thanking her a bit too soon!
What if one day he found out she'd already told William everything? Wouldn't he be furious?
Layla heard some rustling sounds on Thalia's end. "You up? These next few days, go get yourself a full treatment from head to toe, don't skip even your toenails."
"Didn't you say to wear cheap t-shirts? Isn't getting treatments kind of a waste of money?"
"Are you short on cash?"

"A modern drama? One of those level-up stories? I keep seeing clips of newbies entering the workplace and becoming boss ladies. Don't tell me you're filming that kind of show?"
"What's wrong with that kind of show?"
"Are you sure you can play an innocent new employee?"

Evelyn laughed awkwardly, thinking to herself, 'Don't you know whether you can pull it off or not?'
On the first day of shooting, what Evelyn said was proven right.
The director of this show had won several major awards and was strict with actors. Thalia's very first scene got stopped by the director.
"Thalia, you're supposed to be playing a college grad new to the workplace, someone who doesn't know anything, you understand? You walk in with such a strong presence—are you trying to take down all the bosses?"
Thalia got yelled at, and her face went pale. "Sorry."
People around started whispering to each other. "She's rich, of course she can't understand what it's like for ordinary people being so careful when they first start working."
"Director, let me pause for a moment." Thalia interrupted.
The director had heard several people in the industry praise Thalia's acting skills, and someone had even sent him clips from her last period drama.
He figured Thalia's acting wouldn't be too bad, but now that they'd started filming, he realized—her acting wasn't bad, but her vibe was all wrong.
Layla had just finished comforting Thalia when the director called her over.
"She's got the acting skills and the look, but her presence is too strong. This isn't a boss lady show from the start—it needs transformation, transformation, you get it?"
"I get it, I get it. Director, how about this—why don't we film Thalia's later scenes first, and we'll fill in the earlier parts later? I'll find a way to help her get into the right mindset."
"I'll think about it."
Layla had just finished talking with the director, and when she turned around, Thalia was gone.
At the elevator entrance, Thalia was holding her phone, about to send a message.
She looked up and saw Eleanor standing at the door watching her, clearly having witnessed the scene of her getting scolded.
Thalia glanced at her, her expression flat and emotionless.
Seeing this, Eleanor's lips curved slightly. "I thought you were unstoppable wherever you went. Guess not."
"Sorry to disappoint you." Thalia leaned against the wall, looked down at her phone, glanced at a message from Amara, then let her phone hang at her side.
That day, Thalia's entire outfit added up to less than a hundred dollars—a twenty-dollar t-shirt, thirty-dollar jeans, and a pair of canvas shoes washed so much they'd faded but were still clean. Even in such cheap clothes, she radiated an exquisite presence.
People in Emerald City were right—Thalia was built with money.
The most miserable period of her life so far was when Hayden was dying. Once Hayden died and she got her share of the inheritance, she was back on top again.
Vanguard Innovations Group was controlled by Grace, and Grace only had one daughter, so while she might not dote on Thalia constantly, she definitely satisfied her every need.
Asking her to play a commoner was genuinely difficult.
"A little. I wasn't going to let the production team into the company, but when I heard you were the lead, I agreed."
Some people grow up in greenhouses, others grow up through trials. The way Thalia grew up in a greenhouse without experiencing any hardships was something Eleanor couldn't envy.
They had the same father.
When she couldn't take it anymore, she'd wonder—if Hayden had ended up with her mother, married her, would she be the one built with money?

"Ms. Mitchell, I'm quite honored that you always think of me." Thalia sneered.
"What are you doing here?" Layla came looking for her and was startled when she saw Eleanor, worried these two might fight.
She'd just been scolded by the director—if she got into a fight with Eleanor too.
She'd be tomorrow's front-page headline.
Eleanor didn't stay long and turned to enter the elevator.
"Keep an eye on what's happening downstairs, let me know if anything comes up."
The secretary tried to read her thoughts—by "anything," she probably didn't mean the production situation, but Thalia's situation, right?
Didn't they not get along?
Yet she was still paying attention.
When the day's filming ended, Thalia had just reached the business van when she saw William's Cullinan. She pouted as she got in, looking impatient.
"Things not going well?"
"Mm."
"Want to talk about it?" William handed her a cup of coffee.
Thalia took it and drank a few sips before speaking glumly. "Don't want to talk about it."
The rich coffee smoothed out Thalia's irritated mood a bit. "Take me to my mom's place."
"Not going home?"
"No."
Normally, William wouldn't be happy about this, but since it was Thalia's first day on the new production and she was in a bad mood, she'd probably had a rough time.
William took her upstairs. Soon after, Finn came in with his phone. "Mr. Brown, the production team says the director wants Mrs. Brown to play a college grad fresh out of school who doesn't know anything, but Mrs. Brown's presence just can't pull it off, no matter what. She got criticized."
William raised an eyebrow. So she came to see Grace today, looking for inspiration?
