Chapter 283 Isn't That Marital Fun?

Chapter 284 Wearing Matching Outfits with Gregory

"Who's in Box One?" Zephyrine sensed something was wrong and told her secretary to go check. The secretary came back after asking around.

"It's Mr. Brown."

"Which Mr. Brown?"

"William Brown."

Zephyrine asked, "Really?"

The secretary nodded. "I didn't see Mr. Brown himself, but his bodyguard Finn is standing at the door, so it must be him."

The person they'd been trying to get on good terms with was now competing against them? If William knew that the person sitting across from him and bidding against him was her, what would he think?

They'd already offended him once before. If it happened a second time, the Lowe family's investment would really be gone for good.

Zephyrine's face went pale. For a moment, she even thought that if William bid again, she would just let him have the jade.

At least then she'd have a good reputation for being gracious, and it would be easier to face him later.

But unexpectedly, William stopped bidding.

She won the jade necklace for 160 million dollars.

For a moment, Zephyrine felt like her entire fortune had been drained.

The price of this necklace was far beyond what she'd initially expected.

If the bidding had gone any higher, it could have doubled.

Zephyrine's palms were sweaty. She casually wiped them on a napkin nearby. Before the secretary could say anything, someone knocked on the door. The auction house staff had come with the card reader.

"Mrs. Lowe, should we call Mr. Lowe?"

The secretary knew Zephyrine didn't have that much money on her.

Kurt?

They'd just had a fight last night. If she called him now asking for money, she'd definitely get his sarcasm and mockery.

"No need," Zephyrine said.

"But..." the secretary hesitated.

"No buts."

Since she'd done it, she had to see it through.

The secretary knew Zephyrine's personality and didn't say more.

The auction wasn't over yet, but people who'd gotten what they wanted were already leaving one by one.

When William came out of his box, Zephyrine approached him. "Mr. Brown, what a coincidence running into you here."

William gave a fake smile in response. "Quite a coincidence."

"Mrs. Lowe, you did well today."

Zephyrine smiled lightly. "I didn't know it was you, Mr. Brown. Please forgive me for competing with you. It's just that my grandmother has loved jade all her life, and her 80th birthday is coming up soon. I wanted to buy something she'd like to show my respect."

William nodded calmly, showing no extra emotion. "I understand. They say you're very devoted to your elders, and now I can see it's true."

"Just doing what should be done."

...

"What did you talk to her about?" Thalia asked.

"Just pleasantries," William said. As soon as he got in the car, Thalia was blinking at him curiously.

"Someone like Zephyrine is smooth with everyone. If Kurt needs something from you and she just took something from you, she would definitely say some nice things." Thalia rested her chin in her hand, analyzing thoughtfully.

Just as she turned her head, she saw Marie getting in the car. "We haven't heard anything from the Wilsons in a long time."

When William heard this, his deep gaze fell on her with scrutiny.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Thalia asked.

"What? Missing your lover?"

Thalia was speechless.

She reached out and grabbed William's tie, pulling him close. "Come here, let me see if you're jealous."

Finn was very tactful. Seeing the two in the back seat getting cozy again, he quickly raised the partition.

William grabbed Thalia's waist and sat her on his lap, holding her between his chest and the partition. His deep eyes were like pearls in the dark night, dazzling. Just one look and Thalia felt like she was drowning.

"What?"

"Who's jealous?"

"William, are you in love with me? Then you're in trouble. When the time comes and we get divorced, your feelings will really be wasted." Thalia kept reminding him about the divorce. William listened, his face unchanged but his eyes deep.

His warm palm rubbed gently on Thalia's lower back.

"What are you doing?" Thalia pressed down on the hand on her thigh.

"Want to look at your legs."

Thalia was speechless.

"My legs aren't good-looking at all. If Mr. Brown has special interests, I can take you to see some."

"All kinds, I'll arrange them all for you. Let you enjoy having many women."

"Should I thank you then?"

"No need. We're family. Sharing resources is normal. I just hope that when you have good-looking young men around you, you'll think of me too."

"You like young ones?" William's tone was flat, following along with what Thalia was saying.

"Of course!"

"Why?"

"Young men act cute."

William was speechless.

...

"Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown."

When they got home, Fallon came to greet them. No matter how late, there was always a servant on night duty at Mistwood Hill villa in case the family needed anything. Before 9 PM it was Fallon, after 9 PM it was the night servant.

Today, they'd come back at just the right time.

"Would you like to eat?" Fallon asked.

"Yes," Thalia nodded. She had to get up early tomorrow to record a show. If she didn't eat tonight, she wouldn't be able to get up in the morning.

William guessed Thalia had work, but didn't ask directly. He waited until she came out of the shower. "You have work tomorrow?"

"Promotion for the show, recording a variety program. Gone for three days."

"Three days away from home?"

"Yeah," Thalia calmly dried her hair.

"What about me?"

Thalia replied, "You? You'll be at home!"

William was displeased. Not only would he not see Thalia for three days, but he wasn't even getting any comfort. He went into the bathroom with a cold face.

Thalia added, "Are you mad? You're not that petty, are you?"

"Don't you go on business trips? What if I acted like this when you travel?"

When Fallon brought up the late-night meal, he clearly felt the atmosphere in the bedroom wasn't good. He steadied himself nervously and didn't dare stay long.

Thalia waited a while. When William showed no sign of coming out, she started eating on her own.

When William finished washing up and came out, Thalia was sitting in a chair by the bed with her head down eating.

A voice message was playing on her phone.

"The production team wants everyone in white tomorrow. It would be even better if you and Gregory could wear matching outfits. Do you want to ask him yourself or should I ask for you?"
