Chapter 272 Not Yet the Final Step
Amara asked, "Finn, why are you staring at me like that?"
"Nothing." Finn shook his head while taking out his phone to make a call.
Ever since those previous incidents, William had arranged bodyguards to secretly protect Thalia.
These bodyguards usually didn't show up in front of Thalia unless something special happened. They were originally meant to protect her, but unexpectedly ended up tracking her whereabouts.
"Where is Mrs. Brown?"
"This..." The bodyguard on the other end sounded troubled.
"What's wrong?" Finn pressed.
"We really don't know how to say this."
"Just tell me the address."
"Mrs. Brown is at a villa attending a party with male escorts. If Mr. Brown comes, he'll probably be furious. The scene is pretty chaotic."
Finn covered his chest with his hand, thinking, 'This is going to kill someone, isn't it?'
He steadied his emotions before speaking with difficulty. "Has it gotten to the main part yet?"
"Not... yet, but they're at the final selection stage."
Honestly, following Thalia around these days, they'd learned quite a bit.
They'd seen how rich young ladies usually have fun. Who said men know how to party? Women were just as wild as men.
Those male escorts in there were practically ready to kneel on the ground and worship them.
At this rate, it wouldn't be long before they ended up in bed.
Shortly after, Finn walked into the room holding his phone nervously.
Seeing William standing by the bed smoking, looking like he wanted to say something but couldn't quite get it out.
Amara sat on the sofa holding a ragdoll cat, feeding it treats, looking annoyed at Finn's troubled expression. "Just say it already!"
"What could possibly make it so hard for you to speak? We're just looking for someone. Don't tell me Thalia would actually betray William?"
Finn's expression changed when he heard that last sentence, thinking, 'Isn't that exactly what's about to happen?'
"Mrs. Brown is at a villa in the Economic Development Zone attending a male escort party." Finn closed his eyes, steeled himself, and quickly blurted out the result.
"Holy shit!" The cat treat dropped from Amara's hand.
"Get the car ready," William snapped.
"Take me with you, take me! I want to see this." Amara ran after William's long strides the whole way, almost forgetting to put on her shoes.
Finn drove, Amara sat in the passenger seat, and William sat in the back, his face dark like the prelude to a storm.
Finn was too scared to say a word, but Amara was full of enthusiasm about Thalia's evening activities.
"What's a male escort party? Can I afford to attend? I heard these events in rich circles require proof of assets to get in. Do you think I could get in by dropping your name?"
"I'm getting old and I don't even have a boyfriend. Can I attend this kind of event? Next time Thalia goes to something like this, can you tell her to take me along so I can broaden my horizons?"
Finn thought, 'Is Ms. Brown stupid? She's adding fuel to the fire!'
William was so angry he gasped, glaring at her fiercely. "Amara, shut up."
"William, I'm just curious." Amara blinked her eyes, looking at him pitifully.
William's chest heaved violently with anger, feeling like the car was going too slow. "Can't you press the gas pedal?"
"Mr. Brown... speed limit."
"What's more important, the fine or my wife cheating?" The man was furious. If Amara weren't there, he probably couldn't contain his rage.
Amara was family after all, so hearing William's explosive tone, she still tried to calm him down. "Safety first, William. You know where she is now, maybe they haven't gotten to the final step yet."
"Amara, say one more word and I'll throw you out on the road to feed the ghosts."
Amara shut up right away.
Sure enough, men who've been dumped all become emotionally unstable. William wasn't like this before.
Before marriage, he never showed his emotions. He could calmly figure out solutions to anything.
Amara had known William for years, and this was the first time she'd seen him so agitated.
The drive from Mistwood Hill to the Economic Development Zone normally took an hour, but Finn made it in forty minutes by speeding and changing lanes the whole way.
Amara spent the whole ride imagining what the scene would look like, only to realize when they arrived that she'd been too narrow-minded.
She really hadn't seen anything!
Rich people's fun was just too amazing!
From a distance, William saw a group of male escorts dressed provocatively dancing on poles.
The lighting was dim and yellow, creating an ambiguous atmosphere, with rich women holding up paddles to select people.
A breath caught in his chest. He was about to push the door open and get out when Finn stopped him. "Mr. Brown, let Ms. Brown go!"
Amara thought, 'There's such a good deal?'
She said, "Let me go! You two have special identities. If there are reporters hiding nearby or something, that wouldn't be good."
That was what she said, but who knew that inside she was thrilled, really wanting to go in and participate.
The male escorts' kitten costumes were so cute!
...
"Which one do you like?"
Layla glanced at Thalia. "Just look, you don't get to choose. Be careful, or William will break your legs."
"Excuse me, ma'am, someone's looking for you at the door."
Thalia was chatting with Layla about which one she liked.
A server came over.
"Who?" Thalia was puzzled. Who would be looking for her at this time? Evelyn?
"Not sure, please go take a look," the server said.
Thalia followed the server to the door. When she saw Amara, she gasped.
Seeing the expectant look on her face, her mood calmed down a bit. "What are you doing here?"
Amara pointed behind her.
The black Maybach's window slowly rolled down. When the man's stern face appeared in the night, Thalia couldn't help but shout, "How does he know?"
"When you didn't come home, he knew," Amara replied.
"Damn it! Am I going to die?"
Amara shook her head naively. "Not that bad. I called my mom. By the time we get back to Mistwood Hill, she should be there. Don't worry, he won't dare touch you."
"Amara, you're the best."
Amara hugged Thalia, patting her back, and went along with her words. "Since I'm so good, can you count me in for these kinds of events in the future? I've spent my whole life doing good deeds and saving lives. I want to experience this kind of carefree, fun life too."
"Sure, no problem."
Thalia got in the car reluctantly. Before she could even settle into her seat, the man said coldly, "Get out."
Thalia replied, "Right away."
Finn was speechless.
"Amara..." The man glanced at the person in the passenger seat, pressing his hand on Thalia's shoulder. His meaning was clear.
