Chapter 245 Someone in the Car

Chapter 246 Do You Know I Will Be Chased?

John picked up Thalia's shoes from the ground and pulled her into a Maybach that rushed into the parking lot.

Thalia looked back and vaguely saw someone tying up the unconscious man and throwing him into a car.

"Backup?"

"Mr. Brown's people," John explained.

"Mr. Brown is pretty forward-thinking. Did he know someone would come after me?"

John didn't dare to speak. There were indeed many bodyguards and security around William. Probably because William was a rising star without a strong background to support him, plenty of people wanted him dead.

William couldn't help but take security seriously.

Otherwise... why would an ordinary person need three cars just to go out?

...

"Are you hurt?"

"Almost," Thalia handed her bag to Fallon. She glanced at William: "Isn't Mr. Brown supposed to be all-powerful? How come you haven't caught the person yet?"

"There are too many, can't catch them all. Come inside first."

William bent down and took over from the servant, placing a pair of slippers by Thalia's feet. Fallon was startled and wanted to take over, but William waved his hand, signaling her to leave.

William knew Thalia was angry, and if he didn't take the initiative now, he'd be done for.

"Put on your shoes."

"Is Mr. Brown trying to please me?"

"Yes! Please calm down."

"My dad doesn't even have as many mistresses as you have enemies?"

Mr. Brown nodded calmly: "Indeed not."

"With so many enemies, can you sleep at night?"

"I sleep pretty well actually," William took Thalia's hand into the house and led her upstairs: "Want me to run you a bath to relax?"

"I'll do it myself, you go out!"

They had brought the person back, and William should be going to interrogate him. It wasn't appropriate for him to waste time here with her.

William suddenly laughed. He walked up to Thalia, cupped her face with both hands and kissed her.

"Mrs. Brown, you're so sweet."

Thalia: ...

Teasing her? Bastard.

Besides the villa, Maple Grove Villas had two auxiliary buildings not far from the main house - one for security guards and one for servants, separated by gender.

The security guards' building was responsible for Mistwood Hill's security and surveillance work.

That day, Finn brought the person who attacked Thalia in the parking lot to the backyard of the auxiliary building. When Finn saw William arrive, he immediately reported: "The guy won't say anything, only told us his name is Cruz."

He removed the mask from Cruz's head, then woke Cruz up with a bucket of cold water.

Cruz woke up in terror. When he saw William standing before him in casual home clothes, every hair on his body stood on end involuntarily.

That sense of fear emanating from his bones was impossible to suppress.

William held a cigarette between his fingers. As wisps of smoke rose, he raised his hand and took a light drag: "Will you talk on your own, or should I ask?"

Cruz trembled, not daring to respond.

Finn glanced at William and understood. While William had his back turned, he punched Cruz in the chest: "Answer."

Cruz refused to open his mouth.

William stood in the yard, looking toward the bedroom in the villa, vaguely seeing a figure moving around.

The summer mountain breeze wasn't sweltering hot, but it wasn't as cool as autumn either.

"Make him talk."

"Understood."

With that, William put out his cigarette and headed toward the villa.

"What does Mr. Brown mean?" A nearby guard didn't understand - why did William leave without getting any information?

"He means, just don't kill him," If this was really someone from the capital, they'd definitely be professional and wouldn't talk easily.

No beating, no confession.

They had plenty of experience dealing with this type. Getting him to talk was just a matter of time.

Now that they had him, were they afraid he wouldn't talk?

Thalia came out wrapped in a towel after her bath. Before she could change into her pajamas, William returned.

"Done with the interrogation?"

"Finn is handling it."

"Body lotion? Which one?"

"The white one," Thalia glanced at the bottles and jars on her vanity and randomly pointed to one.

William sat on the bed with the body lotion, and Thalia stretched her legs across his lap.

She enjoyed William's personal service.

"His lips are sealed tight?"

"He's a professional, it'll take some time," William said frankly.

"They must have spent quite a bit of money to hire a professional to deal with you." Thalia teased.

How much did people hate William?

How badly had William offended people?

"Why are they coming after me? Do they really know we're married?"

"Very likely."

William's rough palm moved over Thalia's legs.

It tickled, quite irritatingly.

When William's palm reached the sole of her foot, she couldn't help but shudder.

"What are you doing! Behave yourself."

"Mrs. Brown, I'm already behaving. Do you know what a freshly bathed woman means to a man?"

Thalia couldn't be bothered to argue with William.

She let him apply the body lotion.

She picked up her phone to reply to Messenger messages.

Angelina had somehow heard some gossip and sent her a message of concern. She replied briefly.

Thalia then went to find Nicholas. Among William's people, he was the easiest to fool and had the loosest lips.

Even Amara was hesitant to speak about certain things, so asking others would be useless.

...

The next afternoon, in a café, Thalia stirred the coffee in her cup while looking at him, sizing him up.

Nicholas's heart raced under her gaze.

"Thalia, if you have something to ask, just ask directly."

Thalia curved her lips: "Would you tell me if I asked?"

"Yes, yes, I promise I'll tell."

"The truth?"

Nicholas said: "Thalia, now you're being too formal. When have I ever not told you everything I know?"

"Saying this hurts our friendship, doesn't it? I'll definitely tell you the truth! If there's something I don't know is true or false, I'll definitely try to find out the truth for you."

Thalia smiled deeply. She knew Nicholas, this fool, was easy to trick.

"Nicholas, since you put it that way, I'll ask directly."

Thalia was step by step luring Nicholas into her trap.

"Does William have something going on in the capital?"

Last time she heard Amara mention the capital but didn't hear the full story. Now Thalia had pieced it together herself and came up with this question.

When Nicholas heard William's name, his heart started to panic. When he heard "capital," he became even more unsettled. Wasn't this digging a pit for him to jump into?

He treated Thalia as a good friend, but was Thalia trying to trap him?

This was going to kill him!

"How would I know about Mr. Brown's business!"

"Really don't know?" Thalia pressed, staring at Nicholas for a long time: "But your eyes don't look like you don't know!"

"You're not lying to me, are you?"

"Would I dare?" Nicholas broke out in a cold sweat. He took out his phone under the table and secretly called William.

If William didn't come save him, don't blame him for cracking under pressure and selling William out.

A moment later, before Thalia could press further, her phone rang.

William?

Thalia hung up casually.

She seriously began pressing Nicholas: "You and Daniel are practically his right-hand men. Are you sure you don't know? I suggest you think carefully before answering."

"Really don't know, Thalia. Even if we know about Mr. Brown's business, we couldn't possibly know the details! Why don't you go back and ask Mr. Brown yourself?"
