Chapter 186 William Says: Continue to Bluff

Chapter 186 William Says: Continue to Bluff

Evelyn randomly picked a restaurant with easy parking and got ready to back into a spot.

She had just turned on her reverse lights when a black Mercedes suddenly charged up and crashed into the rear of her car.

"Which idiot is this? Are you blind or what?"

Evelyn cursed as she pushed open the car door to check the damage. Just as she walked around to the back, she saw the black Mercedes that had just hit them reverse and floor the gas pedal, coming straight at her. This was an attempt on her life.

Evelyn stumbled backward in fear. Thinking of Thalia still in the car, she rushed around to the passenger side and pulled open the door. Before she could say anything, the black Mercedes charged at them again.

This time it wasn't aimed at the car, but at her. The way it looked, anyone could tell they wanted her dead.

People coming and going at the restaurant entrance were terrified by the scene and frantically called the police on their phones.

"Get out of the way!" Thalia rolled down the window and shouted at Evelyn. She climbed into the driver's seat, started the car, hit the gas, and turned the wheel to meet the oncoming car head-on.

Thalia reversed, floored the gas pedal, and spun the wheel in one smooth motion. She quickly rammed the black Mercedes into a flower bed. Not stopping there, she calmly drove her car to block the driver's side door, preventing the person from escaping.

Her swift and ruthless moves were just like a pro driver.

"Are you okay?" Evelyn, who had been hiding to the side, rushed over as Thalia pushed open the door and got out.

"I'm fine. Did you call the police?"

"Yes, I did."

"Who was it?" Evelyn asked. "Who would dare to try to kill someone in broad daylight in the middle of the city?"

Thalia walked to the front of the car and looked inside at the man wearing a baseball cap. A familiar figure flashed through her mind. It seemed familiar, but she couldn't quite place where she'd seen him before.

"Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown is in trouble," Finn said, walking quickly toward William in the office after receiving the news. "Someone tried to run Mrs. Brown over with their car."

As Finn spoke, he handed over an iPad. The video of Thalia's car crash had already gone viral online, sparking heated discussions. Some said Thalia was acting in self-defense, while others claimed it was mutual combat.

When William arrived at the police station, Thalia had just finished giving her statement and was coming out.

"Mrs. Brown, Mr. Brown is in the car," Finn got out and opened the car door for Thalia.

Evelyn stood beside her, looking at him with concern. Thalia squeezed her arm. "It's fine, don't worry."

"Call me right away if anything happens," Evelyn said, still worried.

"Finn, take Evelyn home yourself, and have someone drive her car to the dealership."

"Yes, Mrs. Brown."

"Are you hurt?" As soon as Thalia got in the car, William's cold gaze fell on the bloodstains on her body. Thalia looked down, not knowing when she'd gotten them.

"No, it must be someone else's."

"What are you doing?" Before she'd even finished speaking, William grabbed her waist and pulled her onto his lap, running his hands all over her body.

"Don't touch me, it tickles," Thalia said, sitting on his lap and grabbing William's arm to dodge. William's face was stern and intimidating.

His eyes burned with anger, fixed on Thalia as if he wanted to burn her to ashes. Sensing William's dark mood, Thalia wrapped her arms around his neck and nuzzled against him. "I'm really fine."

William had spent years in the business world, his hands dirty with too many things. He'd mastered the art of keeping his emotions hidden long ago. Before she got involved with him this year, she'd seen this man's ruthless methods. Once, an employee who'd embezzled company funds was completely destroyed by William. When the man begged for mercy at his feet, William remained unmoved. In the end, the employee was forced to kneel in front of everyone.

He begged William for mercy, but at that moment, William was so heartless he didn't even spare him a glance.

That was the first time Thalia had seen William's true nature.

But now, William, a man who never showed his emotions, was actually making a comforting gesture.

"Who taught you to drive like that?" William believed her words, but his palm on her waist kept stroking up and down as he asked a deadly serious question.

"Movies."

"What movies?"

"The Fast and the Furious," Thalia answered with a straight face.

William was both amused and annoyed by her serious attempt to fool him. He tightened his grip on Thalia's hand. "Keep lying."

"Don't squeeze me!" Thalia had many secrets, but in front of William, she didn't really want to hide these things. Whether she was telling the truth or lying could be seen in her eyes.

"Tell the truth," William said in a threatening tone.

Thalia pouted and sighed. "What skills? I just didn't want to die."

"Fight back or wait to die - which one do you think I'd choose?" Thalia pushed back, hooked her arms around his neck to look at him, her fingertips playing with the buttons on William's chest, tilting her head as she waited for his answer.

William smiled, but instead of choosing from Thalia's options, he hooked her neck and pressed her down on the sofa. "Choose to wait for me to save you."

"By the time you got there, my body would be cold."

"Try it next time."

"Try what?"

"Try waiting for me to save you and see if your body gets cold."

Thalia thought of Evelyn's words, saying that what they saw was only what William was willing to show them.

"Mr. Brown, they all say you're involved with the underworld. Is it true?"

"Do you want it to be true?"

"I read a romance novel in middle school with that theme. If you were in the mob, could I write a script about it? A story about an entertainment industry actress and a mob boss."

"You're an actress?" William raised an eyebrow.

Thalia glared at him. "It's only a matter of time."

.........

"We got answers. The guy has Alzheimer's disease and has no idea who he is. The police station received a missing person report a long time ago, and the man who hit people with his car today matches that description perfectly."

Thalia sat cross-legged on the sofa, listening to Finn's words without any surprise. "When he got out of the car today, I looked him in the eye. His expression really wasn't like a normal person's."

William's eyes were sharp, his whole aura suddenly dropping. He picked up the ashtray from the coffee table and tapped his cigarette ash. "Go on."

"The police station has no choice. They can't hold him, so they can only notify his family to pick him up."

"We've already sent someone to follow the family."

Thalia was about to ask something when her phone on the coffee table rang. She glanced at it, picked it up, and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling window.

As soon as her figure disappeared, Finn's worried voice came through. "Boss, could it be that people over there found out you married Ms. Smith, so they..."
