Chapter 162 Neither of the Couple is Good
Thalia was half-lying on the bed. Amara didn't need to think twice to know what had just happened.
Thalia lay on the bed with blood on the soles of her feet. The wounds weren't too serious - looked like she'd just stepped on something before someone pulled her up.
Amara noticed William's face looked off, so she didn't dare say anything carelessly. She crouched by the bed to treat the wounds on Thalia's legs, then looked back at the tear stains on her delicate makeup.
Her white dress was barely hanging on. The train had been torn off, leaving just a short piece dangling below her butt - extravagant yet obscene.
"Done."
"On duty?" She paused her movements, and only then did William light a cigarette and enter the bedroom.
Amara glanced over sideways - the ashtray in the living room was almost overflowing.
"Dad said you should smoke less."
William had never been one to be controlled by others. He made a sound that was neither agreement nor disagreement: "Have the driver take you back."
Amara looked at Thalia, who was lying on the bed with her eyes closed, not saying a word the whole time. She couldn't tell if she was asleep or awake.
William walked her to the stairs. Amara handed him some hangover medicine: "You should drink less. Thalia was born with a silver spoon too, she's delicate. You're being too rough on her."
"Go on," William lifted his chin, cutting her off. The message was clear - he didn't want to hear her nagging.
Today he'd gotten furious about Thalia protecting Gregory, plus he'd drunk quite a bit at the business dinner. When they got back and argued a bit, then he touched Thalia's body, things got out of control.
William hated these business dinners. Today's drinking session was like a mystery box - all the bottles had their labels removed before being brought to the table, poured into glass decanters and served. He picked up his glass and downed it in one gulp, the burning sensation going from his chest straight to his head.
In the bedroom, William stubbed out his cigarette and stood by the bed looking at Thalia, coaxing her gently: "Want me to carry you to take a bath?"
Thalia didn't respond.
William knew she was angry. He didn't say more, just carried Thalia to wash up. After they came out, he called Fallon to remove her makeup. By the time all this was done, it was almost dawn.
........
Early in the morning, Layla opened her entertainment industry contacts group and saw people gossiping - about Gregory and Thalia no less. Ever since Hayden's situation went south, just seeing Thalia's name made her head throb.
She was terrified Thalia wouldn't be able to make it in the entertainment industry anymore.
After reading through everything, thankfully it wasn't anything bad.
She called Thalia, who answered groggily.
"Still sleeping?"
"Isn't the shoot tonight?" She remembered there was no filming during the day, earliest would be 5 PM.
"Sleep, sleep."
Layla obediently hung up.
Didn't dare disturb her.
At 11 AM, Thalia sat up in bed hugging her blanket, rubbing her eyes. It wasn't that she'd slept enough - she'd been woken up by her bladder.
She got out of bed to go to the bathroom, but as soon as her feet touched the floor, she collapsed to her knees. She held onto the bed frame for a while, feeling like her bladder was about to burst, before barely managing to shuffle into the bathroom like a crab, supporting herself on her knees.
After washing her face and clearing her head a bit, she picked up her phone and opened Messenger to see voice messages from Angelina: "Are you awake? If you are, please help me deal with your husband! Mr. Brown wants to send me overseas again because I took you to the bar last night."
"He's like a mad dog."
Thalia's slender fingers tapped on the keyboard.
Thinking of how William had been like a wild beast last night, her whole body ached, her head was buzzing, and she still felt like the room was filled with the smell of sex.
The bedding... was even more of a disaster.
The bathroom glass had shattered because William had gotten aroused while showering.
Thalia was so angry she could have a heart attack.
She'd just picked up her phone to go downstairs when Angelina's call came in.
"I'm done for."
"Mr. Brown is heartless, ungrateful, backstabbing, outrageous..."
Thalia listened to Angelina's creative cursing and secretly admired it: "He's really sending you overseas?"
"Yes," Angelina had just come out of William's office, so angry she was chugging cold coffee.
"Since he's throwing you overseas anyway, would you consider telling me everything you know?"
Angelina froze: "Mr. Brown wants me gone, you want me dead!"
Neither Thalia nor William was any good?
Thalia sat on the bed rubbing her waist: "It's not that bad!"
Angelina laughed: "Do you hear how unconvincing you sound?"
Thalia realized it too - William after marriage was different from the William she knew before marriage. This man was hiding too many secrets.
She had to go to the film studio in the afternoon. Thalia had arranged afternoon tea with Evelyn, though it was actually her main meal.
"What time did you get up?"
"Noon."
"Doesn't Mr. Brown feed you? You look like you're starving."
Thalia looked up at her: "Not much better. Why didn't you go to the banquet last night?"
"I'm not qualified!"
"Even Emma got in," Thalia shook her head. A stupid banquet and they're talking about qualifications?
"Wesley is close with those people, it's normal she could get in."
"I didn't go, but I know all the gossip. Shouldn't you tell me what you and Gregory did after you left?"
Thalia gave a rough account of last night. Evelyn was surprised: "That's it?"
"What else?"
She shook her head disappointedly: "I thought you'd found love."
Nothing had happened last night, yet William had nearly killed her. If something had happened, wouldn't she be finished?
"What are you thinking? You look all shy."
Evelyn tapped the table when she didn't respond.
Thalia sighed and leaned back in her chair: "I feel like I've been tricked."
Just as she said that, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and hung up immediately. Evelyn caught sight of the dog head icon - who else but William?
"Not answering?"
"Annoying."
"It's normal you got tricked. I've suspected all along that William dug this pit for you, waiting for you to jump in."
Evelyn had long thought William had ulterior motives toward Thalia, but Thalia needed his help and saw him with a deep savior complex.
Before she finished speaking, Thalia's phone rang again: "Not answering?"
Thalia looked at her phone. A call on Messenger?
Gregory?
What did he want with her?
Thalia answered: "Gregory?"
"Are you back at the film studio yet?" Gregory asked.
"Not yet, leaving at 4. What's up?"
"Could you give me a ride? Luca rear-ended someone."
