Chapter 141 How About You Go Up and Coax William?
Amara had been missing her cat for days now. She kept contacting William, but he always said he was busy. Finally, during the day today, she heard him say he had time and gave her his new address.
She rushed over right after work.
The moment she pushed open the door.
Her heart nearly jumped out of her chest.
She stared at the figures entangled together on the sofa, completely shocked.
Wasn't Thalia supposed to be filming?
Wasn't she on set?
Did William have another woman?
So William was just another fickle, unfaithful man.
And to think she thought William was different from other men in this world—polite, humble, disciplined and proper.
It was all fake, all of it!
Hearing the door open, William turned to shield Thalia, encircling her between himself and the sofa to prevent any exposure. "Why aren't you leaving?"
Finn was stunned too. He'd been guarding the door the whole time, just stepped aside to smoke a cigarette by the car, and in the blink of an eye saw Amara rush in.
Before Finn could say anything, the door opened.
The shock nearly made him choke on the drag he'd just taken.
Finn pulled Amara away and closed the door.
Amara stood in the yard for a long time before it hit her: "My brother has another woman? Thalia's fallen out of favor? Are the rumors going around Emerald City circles about him getting close to someone from the Mitchell family true?"
"Oh no, oh no, poor Thalia. Her ex cheated on her, and now my brother's dumping her too. Why is her life so full of ups and downs? No, I need to go comfort her."
Finn stood to the side watching Amara talk to herself, wanting to speak but unable to get a word in.
"Come in."
Three to five minutes later, the villa door opened. Amara looked at William's restrained, gloomy expression and felt a bit scared.
Amara walked over and cautiously called out to William.
"Can't you learn to knock?"
William stood inside, Amara outside, separated by a door. William looked down at her with a dark face, scolding her. Amara was too scared to speak for a long time.
She was afraid of William. After all, this half-brother who shared neither father nor mother had always been serious and unsmiling in her mind. He gave her enough respect, but that respect came with some distance.
When William occasionally scolded her with a cold face, it could make her heart tremble for days.
"I'm sorry."
Amara quickly apologized.
William stared at her without saying a word. The atmosphere at the door was heavy, oppressive air swirling around them.
Three to five seconds later, Amara looked up and burst into tears.
William: ……….
Finn: ……….
Thalia, changing clothes upstairs: ……….
Since she was little, this kind of scene had happened plenty of times at the Smith Villa entrance. Every time Hayden did something bad outside, those women would show up at the Smith Villa door crying their hearts out when they had nowhere else to turn.
Was this William's... woman from outside coming to the door?
Thalia quickly threw on her clothes, opening the door and heading downstairs, thinking that even if William really got involved with another girl and got her pregnant, she couldn't divorce now. She had to wait until Hayden's matter was settled and get the money first!
Must remember that!
Just as Thalia was about to go downstairs, she heard Amara crying and shouting at the door: "You're the one who told me to come see the cat."
Amara?
Thalia cursed in her mind.
The feeling of dashed hopes really sucked!
Thalia's steps down the stairs weren't so urgent anymore.
"Come in." After listening to Amara cry for a while, William finally said these words stiffly after a long pause.
Thalia shook her head listening from behind.
"Amara." As soon as Amara entered, she saw Thalia sitting on the steps with her chin in her hands, looking at her.
When Amara saw Thalia, she was so startled she hiccupped.
"It's you? I thought my brother found another woman outside. When I thought it wasn't you just now, I was really upset."
As Amara spoke, she started up again.
Thalia thought to herself, Amara is really kind!
"Don't cry, don't cry. I was just thinking whether your brother got involved with another woman outside and she came to the door. Seeing it's you, I was so scared! Almost had a heart attack."
Thalia sighed.
There was a sense of disappointed emptiness.
William was amused by both Amara and Thalia: "You're actually disappointed I didn't go find another woman?"
Thalia choked, forgetting William was still there, and quickly tried to please him: "How could that be? Am I that kind of person? Don't overthink it."
William's head hurt.
He glanced at Amara and Thalia, went upstairs to his study, and forcefully closed the door.
"Did I interrupt something between you two?"
"Better to arrive at the right time than early. I think you came at just the right moment." Thank goodness Amara came, otherwise, given William's attitude just now, her hand would be done for.
"How about you go upstairs and comfort my brother? I'll leave after seeing the cat."
Thalia: ……….Comfort him?
No way.
………
At the Wood Villa, Walter came home looking disheveled.
The man who had been dead drunk a few days ago came home today with his arm in a sling. The Wood family was shocked and panicked.
"What happened to you?" Aria came forward with her pregnant belly. When Walter saw Aria, the emotions in his head started exploding again.
Walter's gaze fixed on her belly with a fierce light.
Aria's existence was a blade those rich kids in Emerald City used to stab at him.
Thinking of this, Walter's eyes turned vicious, and he reached out to grab her neck.
"Mr. Wood, what are you doing?"
The servants in the house came over to pull him away. Aria had one hand on her neck and one on her belly, gasping for air in fright.
The way she looked at Walter was filled with disbelief.
She used to think Walter was a refined and gentle good man, without much emotion or temper, but now... completely different.
"I'm sending you abroad to have the baby."
"Why? I didn't do anything." Aria's mouth dropped open in surprise, looking at Walter with nothing but disbelief and shock.
"You didn't do anything? You seduced me, got pregnant with my child, and forced me to marry you at my engagement party—were those things done by someone else?"
"Aria, think again about what you did."
Aria didn't dare look him in the eye, looking at him while breathing unevenly and dodging his gaze.
Walter grabbed her chin with one hand, forcing her to meet his eyes: "Look at me."
"So what if I look at you? If you hadn't hinted at it first, would I have done those things? Now it's all my fault?"
"Walter, you didn't say these things when you coaxed me into sleeping with you."
Walter slapped Aria across the face, grabbing her arm and forcing her to look at him: "Do I need to remind you what you did behind the scenes?"
