Chapter 138 Remove Walter's Arm
In the alley, Walter was holding a woman who looked a lot like Thalia, getting intimate. In the heat of the moment, he couldn't help but say Thalia's name.
Hearing Walter mention Thalia, the woman pushed him away: "Who's Thalia? Your ex-girlfriend? Your ex-wife? Or your first love?"
"Does it matter?" Walter was breathing heavily, his eyes red as he looked at her.
"Doesn't it matter?" the woman shot back.
"You've been coming to the bar lately, constantly hanging around me, buying designer bags and luxury goods, spending money on me like crazy. I have to wonder what your motives are. Is it because you see me as a gold digger?"
"Or do I look like your first love? Ex-girlfriend? Fiancée?"
Walter laughed. Having spent so much time with Thalia and seen that kind of confident pride that comes with having real status, he somehow felt contempt for this kind of escort who takes your money and then questions why. He looked down on her.
"So what? If I say you look like my ex-girlfriend, are you going to return all those luxury goods, designer bags and shoes I gave you?"
"Would you?"
"You won't," Walter answered with certainty.
His slender fingers brushed the stray hair by the woman's ear, his tone flat but somewhat cold: "We're both adults. Whether it's an emotional relationship or a physical one, it's all consensual. I pay, you provide company - isn't that the rule in your circle? Since there are rules, let's follow them. Ask what you should ask, don't ask what you shouldn't."
"Mr. Wood is so rich? How come you never gave me anything when we were together? Am I not as good as a gold digger? You're really something - you cheated when you were with me, and now you're clinging to a knockoff acting all devoted. Who are you putting on this show for?"
Right after Walter finished speaking, a mocking voice came from the alley entrance. Against the backlight, the face wasn't clear, startling the woman in Walter's arms into quickly pulling up her clothes, looking at the scene somewhat panicked.
Walter could recognize Thalia's voice, but he hadn't expected her to show up downtown today.
Shouldn't she be filming at the studio?
Didn't they say she'd joined the production?
"Showing it to you - aren't you right here?" Against the wall nearby, Evelyn lit a cigarette. The hot evening breeze made her sweat all over.
Evelyn smoked in fits and starts.
Thalia glanced at Evelyn with displeasure, hearing her mocking words, very unhappy: "I don't care who Mr. Wood sleeps with, but don't say my name."
"The guy's still got feelings for you, his passion hasn't faded - who else would he call out to?"
Evelyn's mocking tone echoed at the alley entrance.
With each sentence she spoke, Thalia's expression grew darker.
She really had this whole stirring-up-trouble thing down.
Though Walter still had feelings for Thalia, they'd had their share of unpleasantness after breaking up, so now with Thalia mocking him, he had to put on an act too.
"What? Are you the only person in the world named Thalia?"
Hearing this, Evelyn gasped in surprise. Walter had gotten bolder, daring to say such things in front of Thalia.
Where did Walter go to build up this courage?
Thalia was also amused by Walter's words. She glanced at the woman in front of Walter and asked in an unfriendly tone: "What's your name?"
"Don't tell me it's also Thalia?"
The woman was about to say something when Walter shot her a look and she wisely shut her mouth: "What's it to you what her name is?"
"Nothing to me," Thalia brushed her hair back: "But I should tell her that you have a pregnant woman waiting for you at home. Can't let her unknowingly become the other woman and a victim, can we?"
"You're married? You said you were single!" The woman was shocked, looking at Walter in disbelief.
Men who go out to play these days really don't tell a single truth.
"I'm not." Walter denied it.
"No, but he got another woman pregnant, and she's living at his place now just waiting to have the baby," Thalia mocked him.
She wasn't giving Walter any face at all, just to embarrass him.
The woman raised her hand and slapped him across the face, then left angrily. When she walked to the alley entrance and saw Thalia's face clearly, she was surprised.
"Are you... that pure and innocent celebrity from the entertainment industry, Thalia?"
Thalia curved her lips: "Everyone says I look a lot like her."
"But even your whole vibe is exactly the same as hers."
The woman still didn't believe it: "You're really not her?"
Thalia raised an eyebrow: "What would I gain from lying to you?"
True... The woman thought about it, said nothing more, and left.
Thalia glanced at Walter: "I'd advise Mr. Wood to go home and stay with Ms. Clark. If your dad catches you here, at best he'll take away your credit cards so you can't come out to play, at worst he'll break your legs and lock you up at home to keep you from causing trouble."
After Thalia finished speaking, she prepared to leave.
Walter chased after her, quickly walking up behind Thalia and grabbing her arm. He pinned Thalia against the wall on the bar street: "Thalia, it's all your fault. Things turned out this way all because of you. If you hadn't been so uptight from the start, if you hadn't acted so high and mighty from the beginning, none of this would have happened."
"What right do you have now to stand on your moral high ground and criticize me? What kind of good person are you? Everyone in Emerald City knows you're chasing after William now, practically ready to strip naked and climb into his bed..."
Thalia slapped him across the face.
"Walter, don't push your luck."
Walter had been slapped by two women in one night and was furious now.
He turned his head, pressing his tongue against the inside of his cheek.
His hand moved to Thalia's neck, his tone vicious: "Who's the one pushing their luck?"
Evelyn's hand holding the cigarette trembled. She'd been about to flick off the ash, but now she was at a loss.
Evelyn thought to herself, isn't Thalia going to deal with him?
"Walter, you might not know this, but I was actually pretty good to you at first..."
Thalia made her move, pulling the hand off her neck, pressing down on Walter's shoulder and directly dislocating his arm.
Walter's scream echoed through the entire street, not even covered by the deafening music.
It scared Evelyn so much she dropped her cigarette.
"Boss, it's Ethan on the phone..." At the law firm, William had just finished discussing things with Angelina and was about to head home when Finn came in with the phone.
