Chapter 119 Driving Straight to the Marriage Registry
Angelina, who was just about to get out of the car, was startled by the violent impact and quickly grabbed the handrail.
She glanced sideways and saw Thalia getting out of a black Volkswagen, taking a deep breath.
She took back all the sympathy she had just felt for Thalia. With a man like William, no one but Thalia could handle him. They were simply a match made in heaven.
Angelina withdrew her hand and watched as William rolled down the window. Thalia's furious face appeared, and she raised her hand and threw the prenuptial agreement in her hand right at his face: "Take it."
William got slapped in the face, but he wasn't angry. He bent down to pick up the agreement and chuckled lightly: "Ms. Smith, are you sure about this? Once you shoot the arrow, there's no turning back."
"I have a condition."
William nodded very good-naturedly: "Go ahead."
"Secret marriage." Once married, her options in the entertainment industry would become narrower and narrower. William wasn't worth giving up her career and diving into marriage for.
William's eyes darkened. Angelina, sitting beside him and hearing Thalia's words, gave her a mental thumbs up.
Talk about fighting fire with fire.
Neither William nor Thalia would let the other gain any advantage.
William was silent for a moment, then nodded calmly: "Okay."
Angelina: ........
William deeply understood that to get Thalia, he had to humble himself and play along.
He'd trick Thalia into his hands first, and as for whether the marriage would be secret or not...
Thalia was also stunned when she heard William's "okay." When did William become so agreeable?
Was this his strategy of being flexible?
Thalia rested her arm on the car window and beckoned with her finger: "Get out."
"Shouldn't you get in and we head straight to the marriage registration office?"
"Didn't you say Wesley and Jasper were looking for you? Let's go meet them."
Angelina: ...What? Thalia has brains; she can still go a few rounds with William.
Hearing Thalia's words, William asked without changing his expression: "What for? To fight? Or to mock and ridicule them and tell them to give up?"
Thalia raised an eyebrow: "Not okay?"
Forget mocking and ridiculing—right now she'd love to slap them a couple of times.
William's slender fingertips fell on the four words "prenuptial agreement," rubbing back and forth: "Of course it's okay, but it's not necessary."
Thalia felt that every sentence William said, including the punctuation marks, was a trap, but she couldn't figure out where the trap was for the moment: "Reason?"
"Alerting them will only speed up their plans to make a move on Vanguard Innovations Group, so... it's not necessary."
Angelina applauded William in her heart. William's high-sounding reasons were flawless!
Although Thalia had seen plenty of dirty things in the entertainment industry, she had at least grown up under Hayden's protection. How could she compare to William, this scheming man who had been fighting in the business world from the start?
..........
William kicked Finn and Angelina out of the car and drove off in another intact Bentley with Thalia to the marriage registration office.
Leaving the remaining three standing there.
Brian looked at Angelina, then at Finn: "Should we go have some barbecue to celebrate Mr. Brown winning over Ms. Smith?"
Angelina patted Brian on the shoulder: "Good idea. Pick the most expensive place, then have Mr. Brown reimburse us."
As soon as she finished speaking, the three of them drove off in Brian's damaged Volkswagen to eat barbecue.
In the car, Finn frowned, thinking about something. When he really couldn't figure it out, he looked at Angelina in the back seat: "Are Wesley and Jasper really there?"
Angelina stopped typing on her phone and looked back at Finn: "What do you think?"
Finn: ........ William is really scheming!
With someone like William, if Wesley and Jasper were really inside and Thalia wanted to go in and see, he would definitely accompany her. But if they weren't there, and he made all kinds of excuses to avoid it, that meant there was no one inside at all.
Everything was just designed by William to deceive Thalia.
Brian thought for a moment and said somewhat guiltily: "If in the future Mr. Brown treats Ms. Smith badly, will Ms. Smith come after us?"
"Don't worry!" With this from Angelina, Brian breathed a huge sigh of relief. Right, Thalia didn't seem like such a violent person.
But his heart, which had just settled down, was raised again by Angelina's next sentence: "None of us will escape."
Brian: ........
Would he be the worst off?
After all, he had just described a happy married life to Thalia.
In the car, Thalia watched William drive straight to the marriage registration office. She felt a bit like backing out. She thought about it—compared to having no money and marrying a man with such deep thoughts like William, having no money seemed more acceptable.
She sat in the car, scanning the interior with her eyes, trying to find that agreement.
As her eyes swept over, she actually saw William had placed the document by the driver's side door.
William caught Thalia's every move. He had just put the document far from her to prevent Thalia from suddenly changing her mind.
Thalia was the most indecisive!
"Looking for something?"
"Nothing." Thalia awkwardly sat up straight. She couldn't very well tell him directly that she was a bit scared, could she?
"Where are we going?"
"Marriage registration office." William stopped at a red light.
Thalia's heart jumped, and she glanced at the dark sky: "At this hour, isn't the marriage registration office closed?"
"It's about to close, but not yet."
Thalia: ........ So urgent? William wasn't giving her a chance to regret this?
William was taking her to get married while she was dizzy and confused? Leaving her no room for regret?
"Mr. Brown is quite capable."
The light turned green, and William put his hand back on the steering wheel to drive forward: "All my capabilities can become resources for Mrs. Brown to use at will in the future."
Hearing him say this, Thalia was actually a bit shocked. She had to admit, when it came to controlling people's hearts, William was first-rate.
"Why not Ms. Smith?"
"My willingness is only to serve my wife. Everyone else..." William shook his head as he spoke: "Isn't qualified."
Thalia almost got drawn into William's trap by his low tone. She pressed down the car window, letting the slightly warm wind rush in, clearing her head a bit: "Going to get married late at night—is Mr. Brown trying to tell me that we're heading to the end right from the start?"
