Chapter 97 Just Kill Chase
William shrugged with a casual smile and replied to Thalia's question, "Because you're gorgeous!"
Thalia was taken aback.
"William, aren't you supposed to be looking for a soulmate for some grand romance? Why are you suddenly being so shallow? Or is that just an excuse?"
Thalia glanced at William while holding a tennis ball.
"Thalia, in front of others, even if I'm interested in something else, I'd still say it's your looks. After all... I'm not like your ex-boyfriends who'd shamelessly talk about sex in public."
Thalia raised an eyebrow. William had a unique way of being sarcastic.
"Thalia, decide for yourself—friend or foe."
"Foe?" Thalia raised an eyebrow. "William, are you saying that if I don't agree to your two-year marriage proposal, you'll become my enemy?"
William tossed the ball lightly. "Did I say that? Thalia, did you mishear?"
"Did Chase approach you?" Thalia didn't buy it.
William was the kind of man whose every word was calculated.
William looked at her with an enigmatic expression, not answering her question directly.
Seeing that William wouldn't speak, Thalia's anger flared. She strode toward him and grabbed his tie. "Did Chase approach you?"
"Am I obligated to tell you, Thalia?"
"You…"
William heard a noise nearby, his eyes narrowed, and he leaned down, grabbing Thalia's chin and kissing her.
"What the—" Evelyn was stunned. Just moments ago, the two were at each other's throats, and now they were kissing at the entrance of the tennis court.
Evelyn wiped her eyes, thinking she must have seen wrong. "Has Thalia gone mad, or has William?"
...
In a nearby lounge, Nicholas stared at the broken wooden door in shock. So when Elon told him to step back, it was to make room to break down the door?
Are all military men this strong?
One kick and the door flew off.
"Elon, the door—" Nicholas pointed at the kicked-down door, stammering.
Elon replied, "I'll pay for it. Did you want to stop me?"
Nicholas felt a chill at the back of his neck. What was going on?
If Elon couldn't see that Nicholas was being noisy on purpose, he'd be a fool.
His poor acting mixed with ulterior motives.
No need to guess, William must be here tonight too.
"Elon," someone stopped Elon as he was about to leave.
He looked at Daniel with impatience. "What do you want?"
"Did this door offend you?"
"You know very well if it did."
Daniel shook his head. "No, tell me, Elon."
Daniel and Nicholas were known to be William's right-hand men.
"Are you trying to buy William some time?" Elon was straightforward, not in the mood for games.
Daniel raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Time for what?"
"If I'm not mistaken, William is with Thalia right now."
Nicholas glanced at Daniel, curious about his response.
Daniel nodded. "Yeah, they're together."
Daniel didn't want to waste time with them.
He started towards the tennis court. "Elon, why are you doing this? Anyone can see you're interested in Thalia, but can you marry her? The Wilson family has strict traditions. Your family wants you to have a political career and would never accept an actress like Thalia. Even if you convinced them to marry her, could you let her stay free?"
"You're already in a cage. Why drag someone else in? Thalia is beautiful, kind, and has an interesting soul. She's been treated like a princess by her father. She might not survive in the Wilson family's cage!"
"Suppress your feelings! Your affection is a burden to some."
Daniel hit a nerve.
He was right.
Though Elon's father hadn't imposed strict rules on his love life, the Wilson family's traditions were indeed unsuitable for Thalia.
If Elon wasn't aware of his family's ways, he might have been swayed by Daniel.
"I didn't know you knew so much about the Wilson family."
"Do we have spies in the Wilson family?"
"You pretend to be noble and advise me for Thalia's sake, but who doesn't know what William has done?"
Elon said, pushing past Daniel.
Nicholas caught up. "Are we just letting him go?"
"What else? Can we afford to offend the Wilson family?" Elon had a different circle in Emerald City.
They weren't on the same level.
The Wilson family had been low-key but still held significant influence in Emerald City's political scene.
Elon walked quickly to the tennis court entrance and saw Thalia entangled with William.
Something exploded in his mind.
...
In the nanny van, Thalia repeatedly wiped her mouth with a wet wipe. Evelyn watched, feeling her pain.
"Stop it. You've already slept with him. Why is a kiss so hard to accept?"
Thalia paused, glaring at her.
Evelyn quickly raised her hands. "I'll shut up."
"But I think William is setting a trap for you."
"A two-year marriage proposal sounds like a trap."
"Isla, have you been keeping an eye on Chase? Has he approached William recently?" Thalia ignored Evelyn, bending to look at the driver, Isla.
Isla shrank a bit. "Thalia, Chase hasn't stopped trying to get close to Mr. Brown!"
"Last week, Chase even sent women to Mr. Brown, causing quite a stir. They were all your type."
"What!"
"He really knows how to cater to tastes."
Thalia was furious, kicking the passenger seat, startling Isla.
Evelyn propped her head, seriously suggesting, "Why not just have Chase killed? It solves everything. You wouldn't have to lower yourself to ask William for help, and you wouldn't have to worry about Chase fighting you for the inheritance."
Isla thought it was too wild. "We live in a lawful society."
"Just let him die from overexertion with women," Evelyn suggested, feeling excited about her idea.
Isla was stunned, thinking she really didn't understand the world of the rich.
