Chapter 826 Beating Your Son Every Day

Chapter 826 Beating Your Son Every Day

Thalia spent three days at the film studio. On Wednesday night at 11:30, she got off the plane and saw William's message, so she made a video call.

When he picked up, he was in his study with Eddy babbling on his shoulder.

"Still not asleep?"

"Haven't gone to bed before 2 AM for three days straight."

"Just like me, full of energy," William was the type who was naturally energetic.

When busy, he could work around the clock for days without sleep.

There was a reason for his success.

"When are you planning to come back tomorrow?"

"Coming back tonight, driving back as soon as I finish removing my makeup."

"Driving back?"

"What else? Should I fly back?"

William frowned, looking somewhat displeased. "I'll send the helicopter to pick you up. What's your schedule tomorrow?"

"Doctor's appointment in the morning. Back to the set in the afternoon!"

"That tight?"

"William, do you know how many reporters are camping outside the set every day looking for news? If I get special treatment, I'll get roasted on social media."

William said coldly, "Have it your way."

"My son and I are used to it anyway."

Thalia was speechless.

The winter was harsh. Thalia wasn't feeling well and had caught a cold from working late nights on set.

Every time she video-called William, her nose was all stuffed up.

William couldn't really say anything.

After taking a break for a year without working, her body couldn't keep up and neither could her mind.

If he said something that upset her, he wouldn't be able to reach her for the whole day.

At first, William had strong opinions about her filming while sick and made some cutting remarks, leading to an argument.

Then Isla called him, going on at length, carefully choosing her words to reason with him.

Basically telling him that Thalia was exhausted from filming, that her stamina and mental energy couldn't keep up after such a long break, and that she was being extra serious because this was her first project after her comeback. She loved the industry but also wanted results, so he shouldn't be petty with her.

Petty?

Did he even dare to be petty?

Eddy hadn't seen his mom for half a month, he hadn't seen his wife for half a month, and now he couldn't even have a temper?

That evening, William left work and flew the helicopter to the film studio.

When Thalia got home after wrapping for the day, she smelled food cooking and sniffed.

She saw Fallon in the small kitchen stirring soup with a ladle, smiling at her. "Mrs. Brown, you're back?"

"Mr. Brown is here too, on the balcony taking a call!"

Thalia headed toward the balcony. Just as she was about to open the door, William seemed to hear something.

He turned and leaned against the door, stopping Thalia from opening it, not wanting her to be exposed to the cold wind.

"How come you're here?"

"Where's Eddy?"

"With Mom and Dad," William answered her. "Want me to run you a hot bath? You can eat after you're done."

"Okay."

"Weren't you mad at me yesterday?" Thalia sat on the bathroom toilet watching the man testing the water temperature.

He didn't bother turning around, just left her with his back. "Being mad at you doesn't mean I can stop caring about you. If you get sick and die, who's going to be miserable?"

After her bath, Thalia came out feeling relaxed, wearing loose loungewear and sitting cross-legged on a dining chair.

"You've lost weight," half a month apart, like she'd been tortured.

"Yeah, the medicine affected my appetite."

William ladled a bowl of chicken soup and handed it to her. "Stop making excuses."

"If you can't take care of yourself, you're going back to being a full-time mom after this project wraps."

"I won't..."

"Then behave yourself. I don't want you sick all the time," William scolded her with a stern face, but his hands kept moving. "Drink the soup."

Thalia held the soup, stirring it absently with the spoon, muttering, "If you make me go back to being a full-time mom, I'll smack your son every day."

William rolled his eyes. "Not your son?"

This day, William had to go on a business trip, and Thalia couldn't leave the set.

Eddy was almost five months old, soft and cuddly when picked up.

His temper was growing too—the slightest displeasure and he'd open his mouth and wail.

At the dinner table, after finishing her meal while Grace was playing with Eddy when she heard William mention his business trip.

Her gaze landed on him, neither light nor heavy. "Did you two have this child just to make things difficult for us?"

"Thalia's busy filming and never home, and now you're following suit."

Harper sat to the side, not quite approving of how these two were handling things, but given her special position, she didn't feel comfortable speaking up.

And Vaughn, being a man, wasn't as detail-oriented.

So many harsh words came from Grace's mouth.

William was pretty patient, explaining, "Not long, just three to five days."

"Thalia will be back the day after tomorrow."

Grace didn't want to say more and left the dining room with the baby.

Seeing Grace's mood was off, William called Thalia for help.

Thalia had just gotten into her van after wrapping up filming and cheerfully called Grace with a grin.

"I heard you were unhappy today?"

"Oh, so you remember you have a mother?"

"Of course I do!" Thalia was wrapped in a blanket but still shivering from the cold. "You're my dear mom! I couldn't forget you even if I died."

"What happened to your neck?"

"This?" Thalia tilted her head in front of the camera, glancing at her neck. "Got hurt filming."

"Don't be mad! I'll be back the day after tomorrow. Why are you scolding William? He's living with you guys now, and when he's not at work events, he comes straight home. He's stuck in the middle feeling miserable, as he comforts me, then the baby, then you!"

"Parents should act like parents. Look at you two."

"Life isn't just about kids," Thalia always had plenty of twisted logic.

Hearing this, Grace was silent for a moment before speaking, "Your father had the same attitude as you back then."

Thalia was stunned.

She rubbed her neck and tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, William isn't like my dad. Relax!"

Meanwhile, Vaughn was in the study having a talk with William.

The couple was lectured by the three elders living with them every day.

Fortunately, Thalia was pretty easygoing and didn't take it to heart.

Furthermore, William was someone with a patient nature when it came to family.

They barely managed to maintain the family balance.
