Chapter 461 Teach Her a Good Lesson
Company executives' business entertainment expenses, as long as they're work-related, should all be reimbursed through the company's account.
If they kept showing off like this every time, something would probably go wrong before long. Money was the least of their worries—after all, Regal City had no shortage of hidden big shots.
If there happened to be some celebrity at the dinner table, and they kept flashing their wealth like today, it would look like bribery.
Being careless could get them in trouble in no time.
At ten-thirty, William returned to the hotel and headed straight to the penthouse suite on the top floor.
The tipsy man held a cigarette between his fingers as he walked toward room 3008. The entire 30th floor had eight suites total, and his room was right next to Thalia's.
When he reached the door, he raised his hand to take a drag. He pressed the doorbell and started loosening the tie around his neck.
His drunk state carried a certain captivating charm.
Loose strands of hair fell across his forehead, adding a touch of wild recklessness.
When the door didn't open after a while, William grew impatient and raised his hand to knock.
Suddenly, the door opened.
Selene appeared at the doorway in a bathrobe with her hair wrapped up, completely frozen in shock.
Seeing William was the last thing she expected.
"Mr. Brown."
Something clicked in William's mind.
Not Thalia?
Selene's face went pale with fright. She had just finished showering and hadn't even put on her underwear yet. When she heard the doorbell, she thought it was the red wine she'd ordered, but instead found a drunk William standing at her door.
Fresh from the shower, a drunk man, plus the fact that she already had feelings for him.
Even without any bad intentions, she'd read plenty of romance novels.
So she gathered her courage and tried to help William.
"Mr. Brown, are you drunk? Would you like to come in and sit down?"
If something happened between them that night and she got pregnant, wouldn't her mission be accomplished?
William remained silent, his eyes hazy and clouded, like thick fog after rain—impossible to part, impossible to see through clearly.
While Selene was helping him by the arm into the suite, the cigarette ash fell on his hand and burned him. With that, he suddenly snapped back to reality.
"What are you doing here?" The spacious suite was visible from end to end—a living room with sofas, and beyond that, the hotel bed.
"I came to Regal City for Raymond and Elowen's wedding, I didn't..."
"I mean why are you in this room?" William rarely interrupted people so impatiently.
As someone in his position, even if he disliked someone, he would patiently wait for them to finish speaking. But that day was different.
"I booked a suite, and the hotel staff brought me up here. Did something happen?"
William pretty much figured out what was going on.
It must be another one of Thalia's tricks.
Revenge? Just wait till he got back—he'd deal with her.
"Nothing," William looked down, seeing his cigarette about to go out, and took another drag.
He turned to leave.
Just as his hand touched the door handle, another hand reached from behind and landed on his. The man's brow furrowed tightly, extremely displeased, a flash of disgust in his eyes.
He could allow himself to touch Thalia's feet, but he absolutely wouldn't allow another woman to touch him.
"Mr. Brown, I like you. From the first moment I saw you, I fell for you at first sight. All these years, I've never liked anyone else. You're the first and the only one. I even went to intern at the Celestia Group because of you. I wanted to get close to you, to become part of your life. If you don't hate me... I hope..."
"I do hate you," William said without thinking, his words stabbing into her heart like shards of glass.
Selene's face turned deathly pale. "Why? Did I do something to make you hate me?"
"Does hating someone need a reason?"
"Hating someone doesn't need a reason, but I want to try. I won't betray you, and I can do anything for you."
William let out a cold laugh and stubbed out the cigarette. The bright ember at his fingertips instantly died, his movements decisive and ruthless.
Seeing this, Selene suddenly felt a chill run through her.
William leaned back against the black sofa, using his thumb and index finger to straighten the tie around his neck that he'd half-pulled off earlier.
He didn't want to walk out looking disheveled and give Thalia ammunition to torment him with.
At this moment, with a freshly bathed beauty before him, he was still thinking about how to deal with Thalia.
"Do anything for me?" The man asked steadily, word by word.
Selene stiffened her neck, her spine rigid, and nodded. "Yes."
William nodded, his thin lips parting. "Take it off."
"What?"
"Didn't you say you'd do anything for me? Take it off."
Selene suddenly felt her dignity being trampled and ground into the floor by this high-and-mighty man.
No matter what, she was still a daughter of a wealthy family.
"Mr. Brown, I admit I have feelings for you, but I'm not a prostitute."
"So?"
"Ms. Peterson, dare you swear you had no other thoughts when you let me in? You can do it yourself, but not when someone else tells you to?" William said while pulling out his phone to check it.
Finally, with one hand in his pocket and the other holding his phone, he looked at her and waved it. "Will you step aside yourself, or should I call your father?"
This man was too terrifying. Selene leaned against the door, her face ashen, not daring to have any improper thoughts anymore. She stepped aside to let him pass. The moment the door closed, she collapsed to her knees on the hotel carpet, not caring whether her bathrobe had come open or if anything was exposed.
...........
"Where's Thalia?" William stormed out of the room, furious, and asked Finn.
"Isn't she inside?"
"It's not her. Go find her. Wherever she is, when you find her, I'm definitely going to teach her a lesson tonight."
Finn was stunned.
"What are you standing there for? Get going and find her!"
