Chapter 434 It's Me
Sean and Eileen just wanted to test the relationship between Thalia and William, but they never expected that a mere Thalia could make William break in illegally in the middle of the night.
This totally proved that their relationship was far from innocent.
Hearing this, William laughed. He grabbed Eileen by the collar and pulled her toward him, his tone cold yet amused. "Want to know?"
The man held Eileen like a piece of rag that could be tossed aside at any moment.
For the first time, Eileen saw murderous intent in a young man's eyes. Although Sean had his methods, he didn't have this innate, terrifying killer instinct.
Men like William were born to be in control.
"Who gave you the right to interfere with my private life?" William casually threw Eileen to the ground.
Turning to Sean, the thick aura of murder around William mixed with the scent of gasoline. "Mr. Jimenez, I heard you care a lot about your wife? Let me remind you—keep a close eye on her. Since you want to drag a woman into this game, then let's play together."
Sean's heart skipped a beat, but he forced a calm expression, searching for answers. "Is a mere Thalia really worth all this?"
William responded with something unrelated. "Noted. I'll return those words to you someday."
"William, don't you want to know why your mom left without saying goodbye, and why your dad agreed to it?"
As William finished his business and was about to leave, Eileen lay on the ground gasping for breath, then shouted with all her strength.
Seeing William pause, she continued, "You're not Vaughn's biological son."
"If you want answers, you'll have to come back with us to Regal City, back to the Jimenez family."
William said nothing more.
...........
"Thalia was right—that Eileen will say any nonsense to achieve her goals. You don't actually believe her, do you?" Seeing William's bad mood after getting in the car, Daniel tried to comfort him.
William remained silent. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
His eyes were gloomy, holding back his thoughts. After finishing the cigarette, Daniel continued, "Just take Eileen's words with a grain of salt. Everyone's seen how your dad has treated you all these years. If you weren't his biological son, why would he have sold the house and taken out loans to get you startup capital?"
"At our age, whether it's true or not doesn't matter. What matters is what you think. If you start overthinking now, you're playing right into her hands."
Daniel earnestly tried to persuade him, but William didn't respond.
Instead, he asked, "Find out where Michael is and give him the evidence of Sean's arson. As for that person... let him go!"
Hearing that, Finn understood what it meant.
A poor, pitiful person—William didn't need to make things difficult for him.
"What about the money in the bank card?"
"Give it all to him."
.........
Thalia lay in the hospital bed sleeping, feeling a large hand moving across her body, making her gasp softly.
She woke up startled, and a warm breath in her ear. "It's me."
Thalia's heart, which had jumped to her throat, immediately settled down.
She blinked at William, her lips parting slightly, trying to speak but making no sound.
But William understood. "Scold me after you're discharged. If you scold me now, I can't hear you anyway—that would let me off too easy."
Thalia thought, 'Good that you know.'
She sniffed and smelled gasoline on him, and move her lips to ask him, "Where did you go?"
"Went to the Jimenez Mansion and set a fire." William said, even pulling out a video to show her.
Watching it, Thalia was stunned, suddenly finding the scene of William grabbing Eileen and forcing her to drink super cool.
So William didn't refuse to hit women—he was just too lazy to deal with her last time.
The next day, Thalia returned to the Smith Villa. For a whole week, William sent messages morning, noon, and night, but didn't appear in person.
Probably busy, Thalia didn't ask.
Instead, the next day Finn drove over to deliver the cat. Thalia spent her days holding the cat, lying on the sofa watching TV, and reading books, having the quietest vacation she'd ever had.
Until a week later, when Layla showed up right on time.
"Can you talk now?"
Thalia nodded. "I could’ve talked ages ago."
Layla shot her a look. "Do you know what 'following doctor's orders' means? Let me tell you about the production situation. Because things got too big, filming stopped. From what the director says, they want to wait until you're better to continue."
"What do you think?"
"Does what I think matter?" Thalia asked.
Layla raised an eyebrow and spoke directly, "Of course. We all signed contracts. The production has the responsibility and obligation to ensure your safety during filming. In other words, this happened during your work hours. You know what that means? Work injury. You could sue."
Thalia understood and nodded. "Just tell me straight—what's your idea? I'll cooperate."
"You'll cooperate with whatever I say?"
"As long as it benefits me."
"Demand they insert your ads in this series."
"We took a loss—we can't take it for nothing. This incident caused a huge stir in the industry. Everyone knows that if you pursue it, this show is done for. They've already invested so much upfront—killing it now definitely wouldn't be worth it. We don't need to make it too ugly either. If you're okay with this, I'll go negotiate with the director. Minimum three ads, running from the first episode to the end. I can also handle the advertisers." Layla's professional ability had always been strong, and Thalia never doubted it.
Thalia nodded. "I'll follow your lead."
"Good girl. Rest for a few more days. I'll go handle things, and once it's settled, I'll call you to get ready to go back to work." As soon as Layla left, Grace came back.
Seeing Thalia holding the cat, eating an apple, lying on the sofa, swinging her feet.
"Are you planning to go back to your husband?"
"You're more important."
"Thanks, but I don't need it. Please leave!" Grace sat across from her, looking disgusted at the sight of the cat. "When you're not home, I can work late, socialize, and meet up with friends. When you're home, I have to come straight back after work to keep you company. I finally got rid of your dad—don't make me want to get rid of you too."
Thalia paused mid-bite of her apple. Was she trying to kill her? Seriously?
"I'll leave, right away."
