Chapter 422: Can't We Be Bed Partners After Divorce?
"Are you two in close contact?"
"How close can it be? Don't think of me as some improper type of woman." Thalia shot him a glance.
She always felt there was something deeper in William's words.
There were things Thalia didn't know, but William could see through them at a glance. Michael definitely didn't have ordinary intentions toward Thalia , that possessiveness that occasionally slipped into his eyes was quite glaring.
But since Thalia hadn't noticed, William couldn't possibly take the initiative to tell Thalia, that another man was interested in her.
"These four people in the photo, were all involved in last night's incident."
"What do you think now?"
"Eileen's personality is too impulsive. If she doesn't think carefully, she might not be able to tell who's important in Emerald City." William seemed to already have a plan in mind.
Thalia didn't ask further. This kind of thing should be easy for William to handle.
After all, the position of business tycoon wasn't easy to maintain.
"When are you planning to rest?"
Thalia glanced at the bed behind her and sighed. "I'd like to rest, but I can't lie down in this kind of environment. When have I ever slept in a place like this? This is too hard."
"I'll never be a celebrity again in my next life."
"Why wait for the next life? Just stop being one in this life, wouldn't that work?"
"This life? I said I rely on men. What if this man dies early? If you die, where am I going to find such a perfect bed partner?"
William's skills were too good. Thalia had been pampered since childhood, and to meet someone who could physically satisfy her completely , she should treasure that and not let him die.
When William heard the words "bed partner," his heart sank. So Thalia had been treating him as just a bed partner all along?
"What if we get divorced?"
It was rare to hear the word "divorce" come from William's mouth.
Thalia was a bit shocked.
"If we divorce, we divorce. Does that mean we can't be bed partners after divorce?" Thalia didn't understand. Weren't there plenty of people these days who didn't get married or date, but just had bed partners to fulfill physical needs?
"No, my morals and conscience won't allow me to do that."
"If I have a new family after divorce, a new lover, it's even more impossible."
When William said these things, his tone was slightly elevated. Thalia listened, nodded, and caught the loophole in his words. "So you're good to me because you're just a good person in general, and you'd be good to whoever you married, or is it simply because you like me, because you love me, that you're good to me?"
"William, are you admitting today that what you give me is the same as what you'd give anyone else?"
William retorted, "Are we even talking about the same thing?"
"Answer my question first."
"Thalia, every time you lead me into a trap like this, are you trying to hide your own insecurity?"
"Answer my question first." Thalia still insisted.
William chose to hang up.
He didn't want to give any more explanations. Thalia wasn't blind , she clearly knew, yet she kept pressing him again and again. In real life, she could see how he felt about her, but she still didn't dare to admit it. Hearing this coward say one more sentence made William's head hurt.
Thalia looked at the disconnected call and cursed.
"What's wrong? In the middle of the night."
At the Jimenez Mansion, Eileen was awakened by urgent knocking.
She put on her robe and went to the living room, just in time to see the servant open the door as a group of police officers rushed in.
"Is Mr. Jimenez here? We're from the police station, investigating something."
"What is it?" Eileen asked.
"Did you see these four people tonight?"
"Yes."
"When?"
Eileen thought back. "Around 9 PM. They came in, sat for a while, and left."
"Did they have any food or water at your place?"
Eileen became alert, feeling something had happened. She looked at the police, hesitating whether to speak up and answer truthfully.
Before she could figure it out, the servant spoke first, "Yes, they had some water."
"Where are the glasses?"
"Washed."
The police officers exchanged glances, their expressions serious.
"What happened?"
"At 9:45 tonight, we received a report that someone saw four people lying in the bushes near the Jimenez Mansion. The ambulance took them to the hospital, and the hospital concluded they were poisoned. They're still unconscious. We traced the surveillance footage, and the last person these four people saw was Mr. Jimenez, and the last place they went was here."
"Poisoned? What does that have to do with us? We drank the same water they did. Why were they poisoned and we weren't?" Eileen pressed.
"We need to investigate before we know."
"Then go investigate." Eileen's tone was unfriendly, which angered the young officer across from her. Just as he was about to lose his temper, someone behind him pulled him back.
"Mrs. Jimenez, we're just doing our job. We have to follow the necessary procedures. You wouldn't want us to not investigate anything and just jump to conclusions, right? If that were the case, it wouldn't benefit Mr. Jimenez at all."
"You dare. Do you know who we are?"
"Everyone is equal before the law."
When Steven left with the police, he didn't expect so many reporters to be standing at the door. Without any preparation, he walked straight into the array of cameras.
In just one night, the news that a well-known educator, scholar, and former university president in Regal City was suspected of poisoning someone, shot to the top of trending topics and wouldn't come down no matter what.
The Jimenezes were thrown into chaos.
Eileen instantly felt she'd lost her anchor and called Sean.
7:30 in the morning...
In the master bedroom of a high-rise apartment in Regal City, an intense session was reaching its peak. A delicate girl with waist-length hair was being ravaged.
When the phone rang, she breathed a huge sigh of relief.
On the other end, every word Eileen said fell clearly into her ears.
Almost instantly, the man withdrew and grabbed a towel to wrap around himself.
"Something happened at my grandmother's place. Let me carry you to take a bath."
"I'll wash myself. You go take care of business," Her voice rang out clear as a bell. Sean listened, his heart stirring. He leaned down to kiss her before leaving.
