Chapter 379 William Suspected to Have a Girlfriend
"Whose photo?" Isla saw Thalia holding her phone with a goofy grin on her face. Curious, she craned her neck to take a peek.
Before she could see anything, Thalia locked her phone. "What are you looking at? Not suitable for minors."
"I already saw it."
Isla snorted. "True love indeed - fighting at night, admiring his photos during the day."
"If you won't show me, I'll just search for him on Facebook myself."
Isla smugly picked up her phone, opened Facebook, and typed in William's name. The first result that came up was #William Suspected to Have a Girlfriend.
Isla scrolled down and saw news media had captured photos of William, specifically zooming in on the scratch marks on his neck.
She looked at the photo, then at Thalia.
"Did you fight with Mr. Brown last night?"
"What proof do you have?"
Isla pushed her phone forward. When Thalia saw the photo, she felt a wave of embarrassment.
"Must be from some woman he has on the side."
"If Mr. Brown really had another woman on the side, you wouldn't be this calm." Isla understood Thalia well. Given Thalia's personality, if William actually dared to sleep with another woman, she would definitely find ways to make him suffer.
After all, she grew up watching her dad being unreliable. If the husband she found as an adult turned out the same way,
She would definitely use all those methods she'd fantasized about as a child for dealing with her dad on William instead.
And these tactics were ready to use right off the bat, requiring no extra thought.
"Stop talking nonsense. I'm all about emotional stability and sound thinking."
Isla didn't dare argue back. "You're right."
"Thalia, the director's calling for you."
Someone knocked on the van door. Thalia got out, and the makeup artist waiting by the car immediately came over to touch up her hair and makeup.
Thalia went back to work.
John, wearing sunglasses and leaning against the car, knocked on the window. Isla rolled it down to chat with him.
"What did you just see?"
"Well..."
"This kind of news - normally the Celestia Group's PR department would never let it see the light of day. Now it's hanging online and hasn't been taken down. What do you think that means?"
"You mean Mr. Brown allowed it?"
John raised an eyebrow,
giving Isla a knowing look.
By doing this, when their marriage eventually got exposed, everyone in Emerald City would know Thalia as a shrew.
"Should we warn her?"
"Warn her about what? Isn't Thalia enjoying herself too?"
Someone as smart as Thalia wouldn't miss this point.
If she hadn't thought of it, that just proved she was enjoying this relationship.
...........
"What brand is that concealer? Let me see." After finishing her work, Angelina went into William's secretary's office to find the secretary who had given him the concealer.
The secretary nervously handed over the concealer. Angelina picked it up and looked at it. "Throw it away and buy a new one. What kind of quality is this?"
"What?"
Seeing the secretary standing there dumbfounded, Brian walked over and pulled her aside. "Throw it away now. Ms. Jolie, calm down."
"What happened?"
Brian pulled out his phone and showed her the gossip news. "Mr. Brown's tabloid news debut, and this is what it's about."
"As soon as the news came out, the stock dropped when the market opened this afternoon."
The female secretary was startled. "But this concealer is the most expensive one on the market."
"It's not your fault. Ms. Jolie just has nowhere to vent."
The female secretary nodded awkwardly.
"Mr. Brown, the stocks - could you take a look?"
"Did they drop?"
"Do you even need to ask?" Angelina was so angry that she laughed.
"Normally at a time like this, the stocks definitely wouldn't drop - after all, we have the support of the leadership."
"But tell me - dozens of leaders from above can't compete with those couple of scratch marks on your neck."
"If they dropped, they dropped."
William poured himself a glass of water and took a couple sips. When Angelina heard this, she almost laughed in frustration. "You're quite philosophical about it."
Employees working themselves to death can't compete with a boss who's love-struck.
"I don't care what you're thinking. I've already had someone take down the news. If you want recognition, you need to earn it yourself. If you use these underhanded tactics, be careful, Ms. Smith doesn't skin you alive when she finds out."
William said nothing.
Did he think one news story would pressure Thalia into publicly acknowledging their relationship in front of everyone?
Dream on.
If Thalia could be made to compromise that easily, would she still be Thalia?
.........
"Thalia, the director said you asked to leave early tonight."
"Yes."
"Where are you going?"
"Back to the Brown Mansion for dinner."
Hearing this, Isla clicked her tongue. In the past, Thalia was always reluctant to go to the Brown Mansion for dinner, but now she was so willing - if this doesn't show how great love is, what does?
Thalia was the type who loved deeply in her heart but wouldn't admit it.
"Okay, I'll report this to Layla."
When Thalia's van arrived at the Brown Mansion, William's car was already parked in the courtyard.
Just as she got out and was about to walk in, she was drawn by the sound of coughing.
Amara beckoned her over with a finger. "I'd advise you to go in a bit later."
"What's wrong?"
"My mom and dad are grilling William about how he got those marks on his neck."
Thalia didn't hide anything from Amara. "I scratched him."
Amara frowned. "Are you sure you scratched him? Think about it carefully."
"Why are you outside?" Thalia sensed something was off and looked at Amara suspiciously.
Amara coughed awkwardly. "As soon as William walked in, my mom saw the marks on his neck."
"I blurted out that I'd seen him having dinner privately with some woman, asking if she was the one who scratched him. Then William got interrogated and I got kicked out."
"So William really had dinner privately with another woman?"
Amara nodded. "A blonde beauty."
Thalia thought it was probably a business partner.
But that wasn't important. What mattered most was having someone help torment William.
"Come on, let's go in together."
