Chapter 365 Mrs. Brown Return to the Smith Villa
"Mr. Brown, we found it!"
"Someone delivered an envelope to Steven's room, and that's when Steven got the idea to look for Ms. Smith."
William stood on the balcony. Morning mist drifted through the mountain forest. The man wore a robe, holding his phone and leaning against the balcony railing, his posture as lazy as a lion just waking up. The mist moved behind him, making his presence seem even more solid.
This morning, Thalia rolled over and was captivated by William's figure.
How was this William any different from that teenager who stood in the twilight dusk during high school, holding a book?
Quiet, silent, with downcast eyes that seemed to hide countless sorrows.
Making people want to peel back the layers and see what lie beneath.
The only difference from those days was that the boy had grown up and learned to hide his emotions. She hadn't seen that sadness in his eyes since.
That thick, impenetrable feeling had disappeared from his life.
On the balcony, William looked up and met Thalia's dazed stare—the typical look of someone whose body was awake but mind still foggy.
"You're awake?" William asked.
Thalia nodded. "Yeah."
"Let me check your waist."
Thalia lay there and let William lift her pajama top to take a look.
"Tell the crew you need a few days off."
"No way, people will say I'm unprofessional."
"Should I have Amara write you a medical note?"
Thalia refused. "No, I'm not stopping for this little injury."
"Thalia!" William's face showed displeasure. "You've been in the entertainment industry for so many years, being this dedicated, and I still haven't seen you win Best Actress!"
Hearing this, Thalia instantly exploded. She sat up with a whoosh, staring at William and slapping his hand away. "Say that again."
William backed down. "I was wrong, I shouldn't have said that."
"What do you want for breakfast?"
"I want to eat you." She wanted to bite him to death.
Hearing this, William shook his head seriously. "Can't do that, your waist isn't good."
Thalia was speechless.
..........
"What? Nightlife too exciting?" Early in the morning, Thalia stood in the elevator holding her waist, and happened to run into Eleanor.
That person's sudden comment made her laugh in frustration.
"Watch your mouth."
"Look at yourself in the mirror and see if you look like someone who's had too much sex."
"Get lost."
When the elevator reached their floor, Thalia recovered her public persona in almost one second.
Back straight, still the proud Thalia.
"Would rather suffer than lose face." As the elevator doors closed, Eleanor's words came out.
Thalia heard it but couldn't be bothered to argue with her.
For several days straight, she stayed at the set from morning till night. As they were about to change locations, the director finally gave them a weekend off.
At 2 AM, Thalia came out of the building. John was already waiting at the door.
This was all William's instruction—if it was too late, he had to stay close by.
"Ms. Smith, someone's following us."
Thalia glanced back, looked at the car behind them, her face showing displeasure.
She didn't need to think to know who it was.
"Call William."
Just as John was about to dial William's number, Thalia clicked her tongue, somewhat impatient. "Forget it, go back to the Smith Villa."
"Should I still call or not?"
"Call what? Let him deal with all this messy stuff himself."
At eleven o'clock, William checked the time again. Seeing that Thalia still hadn't come back and wasn't answering her phone, he called John.
Thalia watched John's phone ring, staring at him from the side, her gaze cold and silent but carrying a warning.
John didn't dare provoke her. He glanced at the gate. "Ms. Smith, don't worry, I always remember I'm your person."
"Good that you know." Only after John's assurance did Thalia open the car door and get out.
As soon as Thalia got out, watching the Smith Villa gate open and close, John finally dared to pick up his phone and send William a message: [Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown went back to the Smith Villa]
When William saw the message, he was so angry he choked up and jumped up from the sofa. "Finn, get the car ready."
"Mr. Brown, where to?"
"The Smith Villa."
Finn probably guessed that if William was going to the Smith Villa, it must be because Thalia didn't come home!
When Finn's car reached the entrance to Mistwood Hill, John's call came in. "Ms. Smith was followed by someone when she left the set tonight."
"Who?"
"Probably Steven."
"Stop the car," William's voice came at just the right moment. If Thalia didn't want to come home because someone was following her, that was understandable.
He could accept sudden incidents, but not things happening for no reason.
"Watch her closely. If anything happens to her, you know the consequences."
When John heard William's warning, he trembled with fear.
Thalia was hard to deal with, and William was ruthless. An innocent person like him was stuck in the middle suffering.
Late at night, Steven's car stopped on a tree-lined path not far from the Smith Villa. Someone in the car was using binoculars to check the situation at the villa.
"Keep watching? She's already home. There's no point in us watching here. Besides, in this high-end neighborhood, we probably can't even afford tomorrow's parking fee."
"Take people's money, do their job. Stop saying discouraging things."
"But I'm telling the truth. They only asked us to watch and see where she lives. Don't we already know?"
"She lives here."
"You think rich people like them only have one house?"
"I..........."
Bang bang bang. The voices in the car were interrupted by knocking from outside. The man in the driver's seat opened the window just a crack, looking at the other person warily. "What do you want?"
"Someone reported you for spying. Get out for a moment."
"How are we spying from here? Don't make things up."
"Get out first."
"If you think we're spying, we'll just leave."
Finn was displeased and walked to the front of the car to block their attempt to leave.
The people by the car were still negotiating with them. "Get out. We'll investigate. If you're innocent, we'll let you go right away."
Dozens of people in black surrounded them. The others got scared and didn't dare to keep resisting. Reluctantly, they pushed open the car door and got out.
"You..." Before the man could finish his sentence, someone pressed his head and slammed it directly into the car door.
The man passed out.
