Chapter 354 Director, Thalia is Missing
Eleanor's face darkened at what the other person said.
She certainly knew what they said was true. Lately, Elowen had been acting like she'd lost her mind. Who knows if she'd actually fallen for Raymond or if it was just about saving face - either way, she kept doing these embarrassing things over and over again.
"What trending topic? Let's check it out too!"
Everyone in the private room instantly got interested and pulled out their phones to open Facebook to see what was going on.
As soon as they opened Facebook, right there at the top was Elowen's cheating-bust drama.
So everyone's looks toward Eleanor became quite colorful.
Hard to say if she was lucky or unlucky. If they said she was unlucky, well, she was born into the Mitchell family and enjoyed the Mitchell family's best resources. In the years she was born, the Mitchell family was one of the top families in Emerald City.
The head of the Mitchell family was a famous figure in the business world. Back when his daughter got involved with Hayden, he didn't even think Hayden was good enough. At that time, Hayden was at least a rising star in Emerald City, on par with today's William. If he wasn't good enough, you can imagine how powerful the Mitchell family was.
But who would have thought - just when Eleanor started showing some capability, the Mitchell family fell apart. Not only was there a huge mess waiting for her to clean up, but she also inherited a company on the verge of bankruptcy. She worked herself to death outside, negotiating prices with people over drinks at business dinners, only to have Elowen dragging her down.
How tragic.
The image she worked so hard to build was easily destroyed by Elowen.
Once Elowen's trending topic went up, the Mitchell Group's stock would probably drop for several more days. Who could handle that kind of shock?
"Ms. Mitchell," her secretary opened her phone and carefully handed it to Eleanor.
She glanced at it without speaking, then looked at everyone and laughed. "Sorry for the embarrassment."
"Ms. Mitchell, you really need to educate your sister properly. Otherwise, all your hard work charging ahead won't make up for whatever she does behind your back."
"You're right."
Throughout this business dinner, she felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
As soon as she got in the car, the mask on her face was torn off. "Where's Elowen?"
"At home."
.............
A glass of ice water was splashed on Elowen's face. The spa staff was startled. Elowen yanked the face mask off and sat up from the treatment bed, looking at Eleanor with some fear. "What's wrong with you?"
Eleanor glanced at the therapist, who wisely hurried out without even collecting her things.
Smack - Eleanor threw the iPad at her. "See for yourself."
"Your cheating bust is trending. Have you no shame?"
When Elowen saw the trending topic, her face went pale. Did this mean the whole country knew about it?
She felt scared inside, but still tried to argue back. In her eyes, she always felt Eleanor had no right to criticize her. She was the legitimate heiress of the Mitchell family, while Eleanor was nothing. The Mitchell family letting her stay all these years was generous enough.
"Why are you yelling at me? You think I wanted this?"
"If you didn't want this, then please restrain yourself a bit, instead of so blatantly going to catch someone cheating. What good does making such a scene do for you?"
"You think I did it on purpose?"
Eleanor's face was hideous. She was exhausted. The mess the Mitchell family left her was just too big.
Elowen's parents had forced the company to go public years ago for the sake of face, took the money, enjoyed life, and then soon the cash flow broke. Not only did they ruin themselves, but they also left her a pile of garbage to deal with. She worked day and night trying to find financing, get through the crisis, and find new opportunities for the company. After half a year of hard work, things were finally starting to look up and about to get back on track, and then one trending topic from Elowen knocked her right back down.
"You didn't do it on purpose? You knew full well what would happen if everyone found out about this, but you still did it. You knew all that stuff with Raymond was scandalous, but you still tried every way to get close to him. Elowen, has your brain gone bad?"
Elowen grabbed a skincare bottle and threw it at Eleanor's feet.
"What gives you the right to talk to me like this?"
"You're just a bastard child. Living with the Mitchell family is already God's gift to you. What gives you the right to act all high and mighty in front of me?"
Eleanor slapped her across the face. "What gives me the right? I'll tell you what - I worked for half a year to pull up the company's stock, and one trending topic from you can knock back all my half-year's effort. Elowen, while you're lying at home comfortably getting spa treatments, I'm out there at business dinners entertaining people, flattering them. You think you're superior, don't you? Fine, if you're so capable, sit in my position and see for yourself whether you're really superior or not even worth garbage."
..................
"Great work, everyone. Go home and rest well tonight." Thalia finished shooting the last scene. It was almost eleven o'clock.
The crew said goodbye to each other. Layla had received a call from the company around nine and left early.
"The elevator's broken."
"What? No way! We're on the seventeenth floor!" Someone behind them groaned. Everyone was tired after shooting all day. Did they really have to take the stairs down?
"Call and ask," the director also found it hard to accept.
Sterling called the building management, and they told him it was routine maintenance - it would take an hour to fix.
"Let's just walk!"
Get home early, sleep early.
Thalia went downstairs with everyone else.
The spiraling stairs made her dizzy. Soon she fell behind the group.
Just as she bent down to take off her high heels.
A cloth covered her face over her mouth, dragging her to the other side of the stairwell.
"Thalia, why don't you take off your shoes?"
"Thalia?"
"Thalia..." In the moment the assistant looked down to get her flat shoes, she disappeared.
"Director, director, Thalia's gone."
The people in the stairwell instantly panicked.
"Wasn't she just at the back of the group?"
"Yeah, she came down with us."
"Could it be a ghost?" Someone said this spooky thing.
The director immediately yelled back, "Stop talking nonsense!"
"Go upstairs and find her."
