Chapter 344 Buy One Get One Free
That day, Thalia went from the first floor to the seventeenth floor of the company, back and forth, up and down, observing the moods of those forced to work overtime, hiding in restroom stalls to listen to their complaints, watching their expressions... until everyone in the company had left.
Only then did she sheepishly head downstairs.
"You haven't left yet?"
"Waiting for you."
After all this time, he was still waiting?
Thalia felt a bit uneasy. "You don't need to wait for me next time."
William didn't pick up on her mood, instead showing concern. "Are you hungry?"
She nodded, looking dejected, her irritation only growing.
"Let's go home first. Don't be so hard on yourself. Nobody becomes great overnight."
Thalia's stubborn streak was something few could match, and William had seen it long ago. When she set her mind on something or wanted to do something, she'd walk any distance and endure any hardship. But if she wasn't interested, no amount of money could move her.
"Don't want to get scolded," Thalia said.
William asked, "What time is your scene tomorrow?"
"Afternoon."
"I'll take you somewhere in the morning."
"Where?" Thalia asked, puzzled. William reached out and patted her head.
"Go home first, eat, shower, sleep. Tomorrow's matters can wait until tomorrow."
"But I want to know now."
"No."
That evening before bed, Thalia kept reading the script. She had thought it was adapted from a novel or book, but it turned out to be the screenwriter's original work. She couldn't find any reference material at all.
........
"Why did you bring me here?"
Thalia looked at the job center sign, then turned to look at William.
He glanced at his watch. "First, go in and look at the job postings, then use your resume to discuss employment conditions with HR. After that, go observe those fresh graduates who just came out and see how hard they're working to find a satisfying job."
"This is your resume." William handed Thalia the resume in his hand. She opened it and saw that he had changed her name and photo, keeping only the other information.
"How do you know all this information about me?"
"And even my college awards?"
"If I want to know, I have my ways."
"Go on!"
If this continued, his cover would be blown.
He had never missed a single moment of Thalia's life. On the contrary, Thalia was like a heartbreaker who appeared in his life for an extremely brief time and stole the rest of his life.
Through the rearview mirror, Finn looked at William, somewhat confused. "Mr. Brown, don't you dislike Mrs. Brown being in the entertainment industry? Now that she's hit a setback, if she loses interest in the entertainment industry, wouldn't that be perfect?"
Hearing Finn's question, William's gaze fell on Thalia's steps as she climbed the stairs. Sunlight fell on her back—high ponytail, white T-shirt, canvas shoes. Everything looked as beautiful as her school days.
"Finn, you'll understand someday. When you love someone, really love them, even if you can't love what they love, you'll respect what they love."
Whether he liked it or not didn't matter. What mattered was that Thalia liked it.
Finn looked away and said nothing.
"How did it go?" William saw her return covered in sweat and handed her a tissue.
"I got something out of it. Thank you."
"If you really want to thank me, show it with action."
"Hmm? Like what?" Thalia wiped the light sweat from her face.
William tapped his cheek, the meaning clear—kiss him.
Thalia raised an eyebrow. That simple?
"I'm running a special today—buy one, get one free. The other cheek too."
