Chapter 341 Bit Down on His Earlobe
The guard spoke and stepped aside from the door. Eileen followed the police officer inside.
When she saw the person lying on the bed, she was shocked.
"Well? Is it him or not?"
Before Eileen could speak, the person beside her spoke first, stammering. "No... it's not."
Hearing this, the guard turned around, came in, and closed the door. "We let you see the person, so now you need to keep your word. Apologize."
"Sorry, this matter was indeed poorly considered on our part."
"I don't want your apology," the guard interrupted the person beside her.
"Isn't an apology from anyone the same?"
"Is she your boss? Haven't you been staying here these past few days under her orders? Fine if you don't apologize, but don't expect to leave through this door today."
"Don't go too far, the police are right here."
"It's exactly because the police are here that we can ask you to do what you said you would, right?"
"Sir, our request isn't unreasonable, is it? She's clearly being difficult on purpose. It's been so many days, we didn't call the police, but she turned it around on us."
The police officer's expression also looked unpleasant as he looked at Eileen. "Madam, just say you're sorry, and this matter will be over."
"You..."
"Sorry." Forced into a corner with no way to refuse, Eileen spoke with complete reluctance in her tone.
Only after hearing this apology did the guard step aside to let them out.
What they wanted was for this proud woman to bow her head.
Emerald City wasn't Regal City—she couldn't just do whatever she wanted here.
Coming out of the hospital room, Eileen was shaking with anger. She sat in the corridor for a long time before recovering.
She'd lived most of her life—when had she ever suffered such humiliation? Being forced to bow her head and apologize by a bunch of young people.
It was absolutely disgraceful.
Eileen wished she could grind William to dust. "When I find him, I'll grind him to dust."
The person beside her didn't dare speak, because what Steven wanted wasn't to grind the person to dust, but to politely and respectfully invite him back to Regal City.
Eileen had clearly gone against Steven's original instructions.
"Go find out where Stefan is."
...
"Awake?"
Stefan had just opened his eyes when a cool female voice came from the foot of the bed.
Angelina closed her magazine and walked to the bedside, looking at him.
As quiet as it was on this side, the noise from the other side of the wall was equally noticeable.
"Where is this?" Stefan looked around, trying to figure out where he was.
Angelina replied, "The hospital."
"Do you remember what happened to you? You were in a car accident. Your driver died, you got lucky and survived."
"How could this happen?" Stefan's voice was hoarse. At over fifty years old, going through this ordeal had clearly taken a toll on his body.
"Dead is dead, why couldn't it happen? The car that hit you belonged to Mr. Brown's father."
"I didn't mean for him to have an accident." he was looking for William, but hadn't intended to use any extreme measures.
"I know."
"Then..."
"Just focus on recovering. We won't do anything to you."
"But let me remind you, right now, there are plenty of people in Emerald City who want you dead. If you want to stay alive, behave yourself and don't give people a chance to kick you while you're down."
"Why did you save me?"
"Oh, that!" Angelina paused in her steps as she was leaving. "Mr. Brown said, only if you're alive can the Jimenez family fight among themselves. Otherwise, where's the fun in that?"
"Mr. Brown also asked me to tell you that it was the Jimenezes who tried to harm you."
After Angelina left, Stefan fell into silence.
The Jimenez family looked harmonious on the surface, but in reality, everyone had their own scale weighing what benefits they deserved.
More was good, less—nobody wanted that.
It could even lead to turning against each other and mutual destruction.
This time, following Steven's orders to come to Emerald City, he wanted William to go to Regal City to keep them in check—to keep Steven's daughter in check, and at the same time keep the other Jimenezes in check.
Otherwise, if a family's younger generation didn't have someone outstanding and ruthless, the family would eventually be divided up and scattered.
As Angelina passed by the middle hospital room, she glanced at the guard and pushed open the other door to go in.
She happened to run into William and the others preparing to eat.
"Eating? Should I come back later?"
"Want to join us?" Harper knew Angelina had a close relationship with William and took the initiative to invite her to eat.
"Thanks, then I won't be shy."
Harper was perceptive. "You guys eat here, I'll go inside and keep your dad company."
Originally, with the door to the large suite open, they could all eat together, but Harper probably saw they had things to discuss, so she took her and Vaughn's portions and left.
"I said what you asked me to say."
"Yeah."
"Stefan's side will probably try to contact Steven soon. What are you thinking?"
"I'll wait for him to come to me."
"Steven?"
"Yeah."
"Then he'll probably come soon."
Things had progressed to this point—wouldn't it be odd if he didn't come?
On the way back to Mistwood Hill, Thalia couldn't figure out William's thinking.
She rubbed her temples and asked him. "Why wait for Steven to come?"
"If Steven wants me to return to Regal City, it's definitely not to have me inherit the family fortune. When a family head promotes another descendant before selecting an heir, what's it usually for?"
"To keep things in check." Thalia hit the nail on the head.
William reached out and tapped her nose. "Smart."
"Then why choose you? Won't Michael work?"
"Because promoting Michael would fuel his ambition. By pulling me into the circle, even if he doesn't use me in the end, others won't say anything."
Steven's calculations were rattling away, thinking his scheming wouldn't be exposed, but he didn't expect that William's plotting was no less than his own.
"More ruthless than my dad."
"If my dad had been like this back then, I definitely wouldn't have survived long."
The car arrived at Mistwood Hill. Thalia pushed open the car door and got out. After just a couple of steps, her high heel got stuck in a crack between the flagstones.
She turned back and looked at William.
"What's wrong?"
Thalia looked down at her feet.
The servants at Mistwood Hill had been trimming the gardens these past few days and had moved the flagstones. Thalia had gotten stuck at just the wrong moment.
"Stuck?"
Thalia made a sound of agreement, and before she could ask what to do—
"Take off your shoe."
The man had just finished speaking when he scooped her up horizontally and headed toward the main house.
Thalia hooked her arms around William's neck and looked at him. Up close, her breath fell on the man's ear, making half his earlobe turn red.
Once the intimate atmosphere was created, Thalia didn't want to let it go.
She opened her mouth and bit his earlobe, making the man's steps halt sharply.
Fallon, who had come out to greet them, saw this and gasped, sensibly retreating quickly.
