Chapter 295 I Will Definitely Keep You
"Have you finished your investigation or not?!"
"Exactly! You've kept us locked up here for ages. When are you finally going to let us go?"
"Do you even know how much this is affecting us?"
"All I know right now is that if we let you go, it'll affect you even more. You don't want people saying you've been exposed to illegal substances, right? Actively getting exposed versus passively getting exposed are two completely different things. You can leave if you want, but think it through." The moment he said that, those wealthy ladies instantly backed down. They all stared at each other wide-eyed, completely lost for a moment. In their struggle, their eyes fell on Zephyrine.
"Mrs. Lowe, you need to say something about this! Otherwise, if we're just detained here for no reason, who's going to dare come to your parties in the future?"
"Exactly!"
"If we'd known this would happen, we wouldn't have come. What terrible luck!"
Zephyrine's face looked awful. Watching everyone chime in one after another, her emotions had completely hit rock bottom.
"Everyone, don't panic. None of us wanted this to happen. Now that it has happened, all we can do is cooperate with the investigation. There's no other way. Look, Mrs. Lowe is still here waiting for the investigation results just like everyone else, isn't she?"
"Right now, we're all in the same boat. Nobody wants to see anyone else suffer, right? And this is happening, we're helpless too. We're just worried it might be some malicious person's deliberate act." With just a couple of sentences, the secretary completely cleared herself, giving people the feeling that they too were victims of someone else's scheme tonight.
The wealthy ladies all pursed their lips in silence.
Drama and conflicts happening in wealthy circles were all too common. And who among them didn't have enemies? What woman navigating wealthy circles didn't have her methods?
If this really was someone's revenge like others thought, then this move would definitely offend a whole bunch of people.
Ethan was mingling in the crowd watching the show. Seeing this scene, if William hadn't given him a heads-up beforehand, he almost would have believed it.
Nearby, someone tugged at the team leader's sleeve. The latter glanced at a message on his phone. Just one hour, and the results were already rushed out.
"Take them all in."
"Take us where? What do you mean?" Someone panicked. Going in definitely meant going to jail. If the media found out about this, would they have any way out?
"Don't you all want to know who the culprit is?"
"Don't you want the culprit to get away with it? You're lucky today. Not knowing about this means you were forced into it. You know what being forced means? It's not intentional, so you don't have to take responsibility. But if we don't find the person and this happens again next time, you won't be considered forced anymore."
Zephyrine's face went pale. Her mind was racing, thinking about who could save this situation. Suddenly, inspiration struck, and she grabbed the secretary's arm. "Give me the phone."
The secretary handed over the phone. Zephyrine tried to make a call, but the number she dialed showed it was out of service.
They'd made several calls today that were all out of service? Was it really out of service, or was someone messing with them?
Ethan saw the moment she put down the phone and thought to himself, William's methods really weren't something ordinary people could match.
………………
At the Mistwood Hill villa master bedroom, Thalia was sprawled on the bed, looking completely satisfied after being well-fed, her whole body limp!
William stood by the bed with a towel, looking at her.
"William, if you ever go bankrupt and start selling your body, you have to tell me. I'll definitely keep you!"
William's hand froze while wiping a certain part of her. "Thalia, shut up. All day long you're either hoping I go bankrupt or hoping I die. Can't you be more positive?"
"Maybe it's from spending too much time with you..."
"Bath?"
"Don't want to. I'll do it tomorrow morning."
William didn't insist. He turned and went to the bathroom for a quick shower. As someone with OCD, he couldn't stand going to bed without washing up.
Thalia lay there drowsily, just about to drift off when a text came in on William's phone sitting on the nightstand: [Mr. Brown, you're amazing! They're all in!]
"What are you looking at?" Just as Thalia was about to put down the phone, she heard William ask this question and instantly realized—this guy's phone had no password.
"Your phone doesn't even have a password?" Thalia said in shock.
"Why would I need a password when there's nothing to hide?"
In other words, he wasn't afraid of Thalia checking his phone.
But Thalia was thinking differently. She asked, "What if you lose it?"
William was at a loss for words. "It's a personal phone. If I lose it, it's just some contact numbers. No big deal."
"What did Ethan say?"
Thalia handed him the phone. He glanced at it but didn't intend to reply. He lifted the covers on the other side and turned off the light.
"William, are you asleep?"
"You're still not tired? Want to continue?" William asked.
Hearing William's words, Thalia shrank her neck. "I'm tired, but I'm hungry."
"Hold it. When I told you to eat earlier, you wanted to make love. Now it's so late..."
"Hungry..."
"William, if you starve me to death, you won't have a wife anymore."
"I wasn't even hungry. It's all because you drained me."
"William, if you starve me to death, you'll become the first man in Emerald City to starve his own wife to death."
"Alright, shut up and sleep." William couldn't take her nagging anymore. He reached out and pulled her into his arms, one hand on her waist and abdomen, the other covering her mouth.
..........
The next day, Thalia rarely got up early. William was sitting at the dining table eating when he saw her and was quite surprised.
On her days off, how many times could Thalia actually crawl out of bed for breakfast?
"Why so surprised?" Thalia asked.
"What made you able to crawl out of bed so early in the morning?"
"Either to take a dump or to eat."
William was speechless.
Thalia pulled out a chair and sat down, calling for Fallon to bring her breakfast.
"What's your work schedule today?" Thalia asked.
William said casually, "There's a brand event tonight at Emerald City Tower."
"For a product you endorse?"
"Yeah."
"Want to have dinner together?" Thalia thought Emerald City Tower wasn't far from them.
William picked up his glass and took a sip of milk, his tone even. "I have plans with someone tonight."
"Kurt?"
