Chapter 266 Does Mr. Brown Want Me to Have Both a Son and a Daughter?
"Aaron," Sterling hurried over, iPad in hand.
"After the clothes left the store, the crew sent them straight to Thalia's dressing room. Nobody went in during that time, except the makeup artist who arrived five minutes early to wait for Thalia. Plus, there's surveillance in the dressing room, and we didn't see the makeup artist do anything. I'm thinking, maybe it was already sewn on when it was still at the store."
"Go check the surveillance footage."
"Already sent someone. They should be here soon. So today, should we...?" Sterling glanced around at everyone who was still waiting. His meaning was clear—they should wrap up. It was getting late, and keeping everyone here because of Thalia's injury might make people resent her.
Besides, many other productions were filming at the studio. If word got out and people leaked it to the media, Thalia's fans would go ballistic.
Although Thalia's fans weren't as aggressive as Gregory's, they weren't far behind.
Aaron waved his hand. "Everyone, dismissed!"
"Did they find anything? Tell us."
"Who knows? If they find out it's not our problem, Aaron won't come after us anyway."
"You think it could be Nora?"
"Stop talking nonsense. Nora's our senior, and she's the second female lead."
The person was scolded and pouted: "Don't tell me you're not curious."
The person wanted to say something but held back. After all, in the entertainment industry, if you don't have the clout, it's best not to talk carelessly.
"If it is her, everyone knows she doesn't get along with Thalia."
"What are you talking about? Just because she doesn't get along with Thalia means we did it? There are tons of people who don't get along with her—why don't you go suspect them? Making accusations without evidence, believe it or not, I'll sue you for defamation!"
Nora's assistant Kaia couldn't take it anymore. She walked over and shoved the person. She could tolerate what Aaron said—he was Aaron, they had no choice. But who was this person? Someone with less status than Nora, yet acting all high and mighty. What gave them the right?
They couldn't let people above them bully them AND people below them too, could they?
What would that make them?
The gossiper didn't expect Nora and Kaia to be behind her. She turned to look at Nora, then gathered her courage: "So many people are talking about you—why don't you go shove them?"
"At least others have some reservations. You're announcing it loud and clear. What, do you have evidence? If you have evidence, show it. If not, shut your mouth."
"So many people are talking about you, but you don't go after them. You come after me instead, just because I have less status than them, right?"
"Don't think I don't know you're bullying newcomers here."
The person shouted randomly, looking defiant. Her eyes scanned around, trying to find someone with higher status than Nora to save her. Then she spotted Thalia.
Thalia, who was about to head back to the city, remembered she'd left some things with the crew. She had John turn the car around to the set. Before she even went in, she saw the argument at the entrance.
Thalia decided to watch the show for a bit before getting her things.
She hadn't even started watching when one of the main characters spotted her.
"Thalia, come settle this for us."
Thalia recognized this girl—supposedly the child of some crew member, named Daisy Lynn. She was studying acting, a senior in college this year, and got brought onto the set because her family had connections. She acted pretty cocky because of her connections with the crew.
And now she was dragging her into this?
Did she really think that just because she was supposedly standing up for her, Thalia would mindlessly take her side?
"Settle what?" Thalia raised an eyebrow, playing dumb.
Daisy explained what happened.
Nora glanced at Thalia, expecting her to side with Daisy, but instead she curved her lips: "Yes! That's right!"
Hearing this, Daisy immediately got bold. She looked at Kaia triumphantly: "See, even Thalia says I'm right."
Thalia raised her hand to stop her: "You got it wrong. I'm saying Nora is right. Whoever makes the claim has to provide the evidence. If you think Nora definitely did this, where's your proof?"
"No matter where we are, we need evidence. Without evidence, it's just empty words. Nobody will believe you."
"But... but I was standing up for you!"
Thalia laughed and shrugged: "I don't need anyone to stand up for me. I need facts. If the media caught your behavior, they'd definitely think I put you up to it. That wouldn't do me any good."
Thalia even glanced at Nora: "This has nothing to do with me. I don't have time to put anyone up to anything."
Nora didn't say anything, but she knew Thalia wouldn't stoop to doing something like this.
The commotion at the entrance ended there.
Thalia walked into the dressing room to get her things.
Daisy tried to leave, but Kaia grabbed her: "Stop right there. You think you can just walk away after slandering someone? Apologize."
Daisy impatiently tossed out a "sorry."
"If you're not going to be sincere about it, I'll have someone post the video online and let the netizens judge."
"You..." She recorded a video?
How sneaky!
...
"Come here, let me see," Thalia returned to Maple Grove Villas. As soon as she entered the master bedroom, she saw William, freshly showered, leaning against the headboard reading a foreign language book.
"Let me see your hand."
Thalia extended her arm. William carefully rolled up her sleeve to examine it: "You're lucky your hand made it through."
"Really lucky. I should go buy them insurance someday."
Thalia pulled her hand back and flipped over the book on the bed to look at it: "What's it about?"
William's indifferent gaze swept over her: "It's about a couple who marry first, fall in love later, then live happily ever after."
"Does it also have them with both a son and daughter? Living in bliss?"
"Yes!"
"Is it also a contract marriage? For two years?"
William suppressed a laugh and agreed again.
Thalia: "...Keep making stuff up."
She wasn't so dumb that she couldn't recognize anything. This was clearly a psychology research book. William was actually feeding her romance novel plots.
Something occurred to her, and she placed a hand on William's waist, pressing down: "Does Mr. Brown want to have children with me and grow old together?"
"Am I that obvious?" William grabbed Thalia's uninjured hand and squeezed it.
Thalia's slender fingertips drew circles in his palm, teasing him. She leaned closer, right up to him: "You're already daydreaming while you're still awake?"
"Come closer."
"Why?" Thalia was puzzled but did as he said. As soon as she got close to William, he pressed the back of her neck and captured her lips...
