Chapter 236 Gregory Seems to Like Me
When Thalia arrived at the live stream location, Gregory was already there.
Same old opening.
"You guys are finally here. Everyone's been talking about you lately, saying you bring both fortune and bad luck."
Thalia couldn't help but laugh at that: "I can accept a little bad luck after bringing fortune."
The variety show's regular cast member burst out laughing: "I bet most people could accept that."
"We heard you were coming today, so we discussed it last night. We're having pasta and fried eggs for breakfast," he said while pulling out the menu they'd drafted the night before and handing it to Thalia and Gregory. "This is today's menu, please take a look."
"Our rule is that guest stars have to make one dish. Are you two okay with that?"
Dane sat behind the monitor watching the comments fly by: "Thalia: My dad's the richest man and you're asking if I can cook? Want me to bring a chef?"
"Don't make things hard for the entertainment industry's innocent female celebrity! Would you dare eat what she makes?"
"LOL, just let Gregory do it. He looks like someone who can make edible food"
"Thalia chooses to give up!"
"Cooking is something us common folk do. Thalia is Emerald City's princess and you want her to cook? Isn't that a joke?"
Dane stared for a long time but didn't see the account that sent gifts last time: "Didn't we promote this live stream? Why are people only sending small gifts?"
"We did promote it! Look, today's viewer count is double what it was last time!" The staff member didn't understand.
Dane rolled his eyes, thinking, forget it, he wouldn't get it anyway.
"Sure," Thalia nodded.
The comment section started up again.
"Can't wait to see what Thalia cooks"
This variety show was all about slow pacing. Dane had arranged for Thalia and Gregory to appear together specifically to hype up their relationship. The professional regular cast gave Thalia and Gregory a basket and asked them to pick some fresh vegetables from the garden across the way. Summer gardens had no shortage of fresh vegetables.
Thalia wore a white short-sleeved shirt and light blue jeans, Gregory was in sportswear. Walking along the field ridge carrying their basket and chatting, the scene was beautiful and warm.
"Living in a place like this for a lifetime wouldn't be so bad."
Thalia was walking ahead with the basket when she heard Gregory's words and turned around in shock. Her look seemed to say: are you okay?
This crappy place is worth spending your whole life here?
Lots of mosquitoes, inconvenient transportation, and all kinds of bugs.
"Nice environment, but... aren't you afraid of bugs?"
Gregory thought about it: "I am."
"Like what?"
"Snakes!"
Thalia laughed: "Then forget about living here for a lifetime!"
Gregory didn't understand. Thalia pointed to the ditch by the field ridge where a soft-bodied creature was swimming: "Look what that is."
Dane zoomed in the camera, and everyone in the live stream saw the snake swimming along.
In an instant, Gregory backed away in fright, while Thalia stood there laughing until tears came out.
Thalia stood on the field ridge in the morning light, holding the woven bamboo basket, laughing hard.
"How about you wait here? I'll go to the garden by myself?"
Gregory's face looked terrible. Having his weakness discovered and mercilessly mocked by the girl he liked, he couldn't quite save face: "You're not afraid?"
"Not afraid! If you want an extra dish, I can even try to catch it for you."
Dane: .......
Live stream fans: ........ Thalia is that brave?
"Thalia, you're a girl."
"So what if I'm a girl? Do girls have to be afraid of these things? Precisely because I'm a girl, I can't be afraid of these things. I'm a girl, but I'm not naturally a vulnerable group. Compared to these little animals, which is scarier - domestic violence, dismemberment, or body dumping?"
Gregory was stunned by Thalia's words and quickly tried to explain, the apology and concern in his eyes impossible to hide: "That's not what I meant."
That kind of concern Gregory showed could only be seen in young couples in love. Thalia looked directly at him, feeling a moment of panic.
Does Gregory like me?
"I know that's not what you meant, but I still need to say it, because not everyone is as clear-headed as me," Thalia said. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed the snake swimming toward them. She quickly crouched down, and when she stood up, she was pinching the snake by its neck.
Thalia tossed the snake to the other side of the field ridge.
"Let's go! Problem solved. Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Gregory: .........
Everyone: .........
William, who was watching the live stream, suddenly remembered Thalia stuffing various soft-bodied animals into his bicycle basket. When he asked her about it, she denied it. Wasn't this proof?
Before the variety show even ended, news of Thalia catching a snake with her bare hands went viral. A headline reading "The Unknown Side of Entertainment Industry's Innocent Female Celebrity Revealed" was prominently displayed on the trending topics.
Later that evening while making her signature dish, Thalia was still lamenting that she didn't catch the snake to cook it.
...........
"Congratulations, you've become famous in another weird way. How did you manage to catch a snake with your bare hands in front of Gregory?"
"Was catching snakes part of our scripted plan?"
"Do you know your identity as the entertainment industry's innocent female celebrity is about to be ruined?" Layla sat next to Thalia, watching her casually wipe her palms with a wet wipe, feeling both annoyed and amused.
"Didn't you want me to change my image?"
"I wanted you to change your image, but did I ask you to do it by catching snakes? Since you're so capable, should I find you a mountain forest to live stream from?"
Thalia sighed and tossed the wet wipe into a nearby trash bag: "I didn't plan to catch the snake originally"
"Then why did you catch it?"
"Gregory was looking at me strangely. He seems to like me."
Layla: ........ You finally figured it out.
Isla: .......... Thalia's eyes are working again.
Layla had a headache and leaned against the car door, tapping her head against the window: "So you caught a snake with your bare hands because you realized he likes you?"
"Not exactly. I just wanted to tell him that I'm a woman he can't match up to, that coward."
As soon as Thalia finished speaking, Layla handed over her phone.
