Chapter 213 On-site Viewing
Thalia came upstairs carrying shopping bags of all sizes. She was planning to kill some time in the secretary's office first, but happened to see William coming out of his office.
"Where are you going?"
"You're done talking already?" Thalia was surprised.
William responded and turned back into his office. Thalia followed him in.
She put down all the shopping bags and pulled out a black tie from a navy blue bag.
"Try it on."
Thalia reached out and yanked off the tie around his neck, then put the black tie embroidered with magnolia flowers around William's neck and skillfully tied it for him, even trying several different knots.
"Pretty skilled at this, Mrs. Brown."
Thalia raised her eyebrows and glanced at him: "All those ex-boyfriends weren't for nothing."
Hearing this, William's breathing hitched. He pressed Thalia's waist against his own: "Looking for a spanking?"
Thalia reached up and adjusted the tie. The magnolia flowers complemented his white shirt perfectly, and the black tie was exactly his daily favorite.
"Mr. Brown, getting cocky now?"
"Not cocky, but something else is getting hard. Want to try, Mrs. Brown?"
Just as Thalia was about to say something, William spun her around, trapped her against the desk, wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.
Nora had already gotten into the elevator, but thinking about how Kurt would probably deal with her once she left the building, she came back to William's office.
She was about to push the door open when the intertwined figures of the two people through the crack made her hand freeze in mid-air.
William... has a woman?
William's broad back blocked the woman's slender body in his arms. She could only see their intertwined figures but couldn't see the woman's face.
The woman's slender wrist wore a white jade bracelet that, even from a distance, looked obviously expensive.
Nora stood at the door in shock, unable to move for a long time.
"Someone's at the door."
Thalia gently pushed William's shoulder away.
"Let her watch," William was too turned on to care. Would that person dare to watch? Dare to burst in?
When Angelina came in with documents to find William, she happened to see Nora standing at the office door, peeking through the crack at the scene inside. She glanced sideways.
She was startled. Are female celebrities this bold nowadays? Watching live shows now?
"Enjoying the view?"
The sudden voice interrupted Nora's thoughts, startling her into spinning around. She recognized Angelina - they'd met a few times. She was William's right-hand woman, a general manager with real influence at the Celestia Group.
"Sorry... I..."
"Want to go in? Should I open the door for you?" Angelina said, making a move to push the door open.
"No... no need."
"Nora, being in the entertainment industry, you should know better than ordinary people what things you can watch and what you can't, right?"
"Watch yourself!" Angelina's words carried a deeper meaning.
Nora didn't dare stay any longer and turned to leave.
So William wasn't an untouchable flower after all - didn't that mean she still had a chance?
As long as she still had a chance, that was enough.
As soon as Nora left, Angelina called Brian over and asked about what just happened.
After Brian finished explaining, she laughed: "Interesting, the entertainment industry really produces talent!"
.............
"I'm guessing Jasper isn't that stupid - he won't just hand over the funds to Wesley that easily. Maybe we should just wrap this up and stop wasting time. If Aria hadn't done that livestream, there might still have been a chance, but after the livestream came out, the Wood family got torn apart online. If Jasper still cares about saving face for his friend after all that, his brain must really be broken."
"Dragging it out longer just gives Wesley a chance to hang on. Forget it!"
Angelina analyzed calmly, her gaze drifting from William's face to his shirt.
"What are you looking at?"
"Thalia's eyeshadow looks pretty good."
William: ?
Angelina pointed at his collar. William looked down and sure enough, saw pink and brown patches on his shirt collar...
"Men with women are different - always thinking about romance and all that stuff. Do you still remember Daniel helping you investigate things abroad?"
William looked up at her: "What did he find?"
"That person who hit Thalia - you were right, he's not mentally ill. Someone just had the connections to tamper with the hospital's medical records to make us think he'd had mental illness since childhood. He's already abroad preparing to retire now."
"Got it."
On weekends, not many people worked overtime at the company. Apart from the secretary's office staff and a few general managers, there weren't many others around.
Nora took the elevator down to the parking garage. She thought Kurt would have left already, but surprisingly, he was still there.
Isia saw her and politely greeted her.
"Please."
Nora got in the car, expecting to see Kurt.
Obviously, that wasn't the case.
"Surprised to see me, Nora?"
Zephyrine looked at Nora with some affection in her eyes. Wearing a blue-green dress that perfectly displayed her elegant and noble bearing, her every gesture radiated the demeanor of a wealthy lady.
Even though Nora had never met Zephyrine in person, she'd seen photos online. Her love story with Kurt could be said to be legendary. Among all the entrepreneurs in Emerald City, countless had mistresses, and plenty played around with their wives involved too, but Kurt and Zephyrine were an exception.
They'd been married for over thirty years without a single scandal.
On the list of self-disciplined entrepreneurs, Kurt could rank first.
"A bit."
"Nora, you don't need to be surprised. I know about the recent scandal, and I won't do anything to you."
"There are just some things Nora needs to understand."
"Please speak frankly, Zephyrine."
"Businesspeople care about benefits. Whether it's objects or people around them, there must be profit to be gained. Once a person loses their value, Nora should know what we'll do. Any little bit of water we splash from our hands becomes an ocean for someone like Nora. We can give you benefits, but whether you can hold onto them depends on your own ability."
As Zephyrine spoke, she handed over a folder.
In the folder was actually all the personal relationships of William's family.
This scene seemed familiar...
As Nora got out of the car, she gripped the folder tightly in her hand.
Was Zephyrine creating an opportunity for her?
"Mrs. Lowe, is this appropriate?" Isia felt that Zephyrine was taking a risk.
A suspicious man like William would surely trace it back to them if he discovered anything.
"Do we need to bear the consequences?"
"Isn't investigating each other common in business partnerships? As for how that information ended up in Nora's hands, how would we know?"
