Chapter 201 Nora's Backer is Him
It was rare for Layla to get a call from Thalia during her time off.
"Spend money, buy trending topics."
"You're famous on Facebook again?" Layla was sitting in a restaurant and couldn't help dropping her spoon on the table.
Thalia scratched her head helplessly: "Not me, I sent it to you, go check it out."
Live-streaming domestic violence, how thrilling!
"Is this Walter?"
"Yes."
Amara leaned over next to Thalia's head, staring at the screen on her phone.
"If I remember correctly, she's still breastfeeding, right? Walter is such a monster? Punching and kicking her like that, isn't he trying to kill her?"
"What a beast!"
"And she still won't break up? Does she want to die at the Wood Villa? Does she want to end up in a refrigerator, at the bottom of the sea, in the mountains, or in the sewers? With all those dismemberment cases in the news lately, hasn't she seen any of them? Is she that devoted?"
"Who knows." Thalia responded lazily. If she were at Maple Grove Villas right now, she'd definitely be lying on the couch, kicking her legs, eating snacks while typing away furiously on her keyboard.
"The first three months after giving birth are the wound recovery period. Beating her like this could very likely cause massive bleeding."
"What are you watching?" Harper came out with washed fruit, thoughtfully preparing a small portion for Thalia.
Amara popped a grape in her mouth: "A wife-killing case, Mom."
"Come on, watch together. After this, stop nagging me about dating."
Harper: .......
William took the phone from Thalia's hand. She still wanted to watch, but seeing the warning hidden in William's gaze, she stopped.
Before turning off the phone, William glanced at the screen and saw Aria beaten on the ground, unable to even crawl up. His fingertips curled slightly.
It was only for a second, then he let go.
He never pitied those who had gained benefits from him.
Heavy is the head that wears the crown - to gain something, you must give something. Aria should have thought about the price long ago.
They sat together chatting casually, mostly Harper asking questions and Thalia answering.
Occasionally mixed with a few words of concern.
........
When the police broke in, Walter's actions hadn't stopped yet.
He looked at the newcomers in surprise, then turned his gaze to Aria: "You dared to call the police?"
As he spoke, he tried to step on Aria again.
A police officer pinned him to the ground.
"Mr. Wood, why do this? Even if you don't love this woman, she's been through life and death, given birth to your children. If there's no love, there's still gratitude. Doing this, aren't you just the next wife-killing maniac?"
"Ethan? What are you doing here?"
Ethan held Walter down, signaling his colleague to find the livestreaming device and turn it off: "Sorry to tell you, I got promoted. All of Emerald City is under my jurisdiction now."
Walter laughed: "After being a dog for so many years, you finally got promoted?"
"Shut up!"
As soon as Ethan finished speaking, he knocked Walter out with a punch.
He waved his hand, signaling everyone in the room to leave, leaving just him and Aria. He looked at Aria lying on the ground struggling for survival and sighed helplessly: "Take care of yourself."
After Ethan spoke, he prepared to leave. Just as he reached the door, he seemed to remember something and turned back to look at Aria lying on the ground: "I'll keep him locked up for a week. You have a week to think carefully about your way out. After a week, I can't guarantee anything. However, if Ms. Clark wants to sue him, you can find this person."
A business card floated down from Ethan's fingertips, landing exactly one meter away from her.
Aria endured the pain and struggled to crawl over to pick up the card and look at it.
"Angelina?"
William's person?
Ethan didn't know what kind of relationship William and Aria had, but judging from his tone on the phone today, William actually showed half a bit of compassion for this woman, which wasn't a good thing.
William never meddled in others' affairs and never showed his capabilities because of any outsider.
Even in front of Thalia, he held back somewhat.
But William's actions today were interesting.
........
"Haven't seen enough yet?" The car stopped at the entrance of Maple Grove Villas, and Thalia's eyes hadn't left her phone screen.
"So, where are you with Walter's case?"
"In a hurry?" William asked.
"Of course I'm in a hurry, why else would I sue him?"
"Just putting him away would be simple, but don't you want to see him fall from a great height?"
"Mr. Brown has a plan?"
"Be patient, you'll know when the time comes. Get out of the car first."
The next day, Thalia returned to the set. As soon as she entered, she saw people gathered together discussing something.
She quietly moved closer to catch some gossip, but Layla grabbed her by the neck and pushed her toward the makeup room: "Stop listening to all this gossip, it'll only hurt you."
"Aren't you curious?"
"I'm not curious. Hurry up and get your makeup done, don't make everyone wait for you and then talk bad about you."
"Isla, go find out what's going on." Makeup had to be done, but gossip had to be known too.
Before long, Isla came back with the news: "Thalia, apparently some big shot called Aaron about Nora. The screenwriter just got out of the hospital today and was about to revise the script when Aaron called her over to talk about this. The screenwriter was so angry she started cursing."
"After the screenwriter came back and heard everyone say that her car accident might have been arranged by Nora, she got even angrier."
"The screenwriter is waiting at the door for Nora to come in!"
"Waiting for her to come in for what?"
"What else? They're definitely going to fight!"
"This is so exciting, I really want to go watch." Thalia felt restless sitting in the chair. She was about to move when Layla pressed her down.
"You stay put and finish your makeup."
Thalia sat in the chair reluctantly, with a dejected look on her face. Isla comforted her: "Thalia, I'll go record a video for you. You just focus on your makeup."
"Go, go quickly."
"Got nothing better to do?"
"You don't understand, this is one of life's pleasures." Thalia muttered, then remembered that night's banquet: "Do you know Kurt?"
"A famous businessman in Emerald City. Why are you asking about him?" Layla had obviously heard of him.
Layla's impression of him seemed decent, otherwise she wouldn't have answered Thalia in such a normal and serious tone.
"Nora's backer is him."
