Chapter 182 You Have to Guard Against Your Wife Cheating on You
Thalia rarely took time off, and even then she only invited Evelyn out for a meal. She hadn't dined with other wealthy girls in ages. Whatever had happened, she never asked about it. If Layla hadn't told her all this today, she really wouldn't have known.
"Stay out of sight. Copy the surveillance footage from the entrance and have John take Isla to handle it. Whatever you do, don't show your face. I just got you two endorsement deals today. If something happens to you at a time like this and you lose those endorsements, that would be awkward."
"Got it."
"What did he mean by shouting those things at your door? Is there a man in your place?"
Thalia glanced at the person crouching by the bathtub: "William's here."
Layla: ..........
Thalia looked at the phone Layla had hung up and reached out to return the phone to William.
Then the phone rang again.
Looking at the caller ID, she paused, hesitated for a moment, then answered.
"Gregory."
"I heard something happened to you. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Thalia responded. With one hand holding the phone, she used her other hand to grab William's hand that was trying to take advantage of her.
"If you need any help, contact Luca. Don't be shy about it."
Thalia was touched. After all these years in the entertainment industry, she didn't have a single true friend, but today Gregory's words seemed genuinely sincere.
"Thanks. I'll hang up now."
"Not going to let him come comfort you?" William withdrew his hand, his icy tone enveloping Thalia, making her shrink her neck and slide further down into the bathtub.
"What's there to comfort me about?"
"Get out, I need to take a bath."
William went to the living room and pulled out a cigarette pack from his briefcase. Just as he walked to the window to light up, he saw a figure standing under a tree at the residential complex entrance in the distance. The mottled tree shadows fell on the man, flickering between light and dark.
He had always had an excellent memory. To this day, he remembered every interaction with Thalia, everything they'd experienced, every word they'd said, crystal clear. Business matters were even clearer. Angelina had once marveled at how powerful a human brain could be.
Now, standing upstairs, looking down from the seventh floor, even though he couldn't see the face clearly, he could still recognize the person below as Gregory based on their few meetings.
Thalia was someone who always wavered between normal and abnormal. Like today, as soon as she got home, she wanted some kind of atmosphere, turning off the main lights and leaving only a dim mood light on.
Now standing by the window, he could clearly see Gregory's every move downstairs, while Gregory couldn't see what was happening upstairs.
William raised his hand to light his cigarette. As the flame sparked, he tossed the lighter into his briefcase, leaned back against the sofa, and looked down at the figure outside the floor-to-ceiling window.
Daniel's words echoed in his mind: "Gregory has an excellent reputation in the entertainment industry. He keeps things clean, no scandalous girlfriends. As for the power behind him, everyone in the capital knows he's from the Lopez family, but his father is the second son of the Lopez family, not particularly accomplished."
"And the second son's family hasn't made any outstanding contributions over the years. Plus, with the Lopez family being suppressed, they basically don't attend any business events now. They're lying low."
"He's no threat to you. The only threat is that Thalia likes exactly Gregory's type of man. Wasn't that why she chased after you in the first place? You need to watch out for your wife cheating."
"Gentle, gentlemanly, handsome, plus they're filming together day and night—it's hard not to develop feelings. And although Thalia likes to have fun, she's innocent in her dealings with others. Gregory, who's seen all the dirty things in the entertainment industry, might just like that type of girl."
"What are you looking at?" Thalia came out wrapped in a bathrobe after her bath, seeing William staring downstairs looking thoughtful.
"Nothing," William reached for the ashtray, blocking Thalia from coming closer.
.........
At the police station, the officers were used to handling these kinds of cases.
How many celebrities were filming at the studio city every day? How many entertainment reporters and crazy fans?
"Sign it! Sign and you can go. They said they won't make things difficult for you."
"I want to see Thalia," Walter mumbled.
The officer said: "If you want to see her, go see her in your dreams. Can't you tell we're busy?"
"I said, I want to see Thalia." Walter slowly raised his eyes. He was mostly sober now.
The officer was taken aback: "I told you, if you want to see her, figure it out yourself. What are you doing staying here? This is a police station, we're not responsible for mediating your relationship with your ex-fiancée."
Walter said nothing. The officer found him troublesome.
The officer called to someone nearby: "Contact his family."
Three hours later, the Wood family's driver brought Emma to the police station.
When Emma saw Walter drunkenly slumped in a chair, half-asleep, she just felt angry.
"Wake up, time to go home."
"Walter."
"Emma?" Walter looked up, squinting for a while before realizing it was Emma.
"Where's Thalia?"
Emma was even angrier. She pressed her lips together and held back her temper: "Come on, I'll take you to find Thalia."
The priority was to get Walter home, not to embarrass themselves here.
Emma watched the driver help Walter into the car. Just as she was about to close the car door, a figure emerged from the roadside: "Mr. Wood."
"Someone asked me to give you this."
"What is it?" Emma looked at the person warily.
"I don't know either. Someone gave me a thousand dollars and told me to wait for you and give this to you. As for what it is, you'll have to see for yourselves."
Emma watched the person leave. She got in the car and was about to lecture Walter when she saw he had already opened the envelope.
Inside was Thalia's recent schedule.
......
"Good morning, Thalia. Are you okay?" In the morning, Thalia walked into the set humming a tune, carrying breakfast, looking happy. A crew member approached her with a concerned greeting.
Thalia waved her hand with a smile: "I'm fine."
Nora stood in the makeup room, watching Thalia flutter in happily like a butterfly, her face instantly darkening: "Not a single scandal?"
Her assistant behind her knew what she was talking about and shook her head: "None."
Everyone on the set knew about last night's incident. She had even arranged for people to circulate screenshots, yet not a single entertainment reporter dared to publish it?
Nora was so angry her face looked terrible.
"Nora, time for makeup," the makeup artist came in to urge her.
"Thalia, someone sent something for you........"
