Chapter 160 Be Normal, Don't Be Erotic
Thalia reached out her hand somewhat confused, and Gregory grabbed it and dashed out of the mall.
Behind them, Gregory's fans were chasing frantically, all the way to the parking lot.
In the nanny van, Thalia caught her breath and grabbed a bottle of water, twisted it open and took a sip: "Don't you know, the more you run, the bigger this thing gets."
"You think this thing would be small today?" The fact that a female celebrity publicly hit someone was already enough to destroy Thalia's public image.
"It won't be small, but you could have stayed out of it," she said, handing him a bottle of water.
Gregory took the water from Thalia: "I can tell, if I hadn't gotten involved, you wouldn't have gotten physical with anyone."
Thalia laughed: "How did you figure that out?"
"From everyone's gossip," Gregory said directly.
Gregory took a sip of water and didn't say much more. Thalia glanced at her phone - not a single missed call.
This wasn't like William's style.
From far away she had seen William watching the show surrounded by a group of business tycoons. William holding his cigarette and staring at her looked like a lone wolf eyeing a rabbit - calm on the surface but full of danger.
"What? Worried about the news?" Gregory saw her staring at her phone with furrowed brows and asked.
Thalia turned off her phone: "Aren't you worried?"
"The management company will handle it."
Thalia got interested and raised an eyebrow: "Then could you help me out too while you're at it?"
"What's in it for me?" Gregory was never someone who would randomly meddle in other people's business.
"I'll cover your coffee from now on," Thalia said generously, almost patting her chest in guarantee.
Gregory burst out laughing. The way Thalia promised to cover his coffee sounded even more domineering than offering to be a sugar mama.
"I'll think about it. Drop me off by the road."
In the entertainment industry, closeness and distance were matters of moments. People who were friendly one second could become strangers the next - it was normal. Thalia watched Gregory get out of the car, then sat in the nanny van irritably running her hands through her hair.
Her hand holding the phone tapped and tapped. With an attitude of bravely admitting mistakes, she called William.
On the other end, William was networking. On the lush green lawn, there was a bar setup with white tablecloths draped from the table all the way to the ground - luxurious and ostentatious.
William was chatting with several government leaders, and before long, more than half a pack of cigarettes was gone.
At the lawn entrance, hotel staff stood guard - outsiders couldn't get in.
Angelina and Nicholas could enter but didn't want to. They stood under the eaves slacking off with privileges others envied.
They watched William from afar standing among a group of men. In comparison, William's image and temperament were excellent, his figure straight, his presence commanding and distinguished.
"Mr. Brown," Finn walked to William's side holding a phone, tilting the screen for him to see while blocking the view of people nearby to prevent others from seeing.
William glanced at it, and when he saw the number on the screen, his expression withdrew. He had no intention of answering.
Finn understood.
Thalia was done for. He walked away with the phone again.
Thalia held the unanswered phone, a thin layer of sweat forming on her palm. She thought, if she weren't married, would she be this scared?
Marriage really ruins people! Marriage ruins people!
Men like William with deep schemes had plenty of ways to torment her. If she didn't take control, she'd be done for tonight.
Thinking about how William looked when making love in bed, Thalia's back already started aching. She called Angelina.
On the other end, Angelina was holding a glass admiring William's physique. Seeing Thalia's call, she understood what Finn showing William the phone meant.
"It's over so fast? Why are all the men you meet the same?" Angelina's opening expressed surprise - it had been less than half an hour since she and Gregory left.
Thalia coughed awkwardly: "Be normal, don't make it sound dirty."
"Are you guys done?"
Angelina laughed: "Are you asking me or Mr. Brown?"
"What do you think?"
"This kind of event, after the first half there's definitely a second half. The second half is at a bar."
"Friendly reminder, Mr. Brown is very angry. Mrs. Brown needs to work hard."
Angelina's "work hard" carried a hint of watching a good show, giving Thalia a headache.
Angelina hung up. Nicholas looked incredulous: "How did William end up marrying Thalia? I always thought he liked those gentle, sweet young girls."
Angelina took a sip of wine: "You don't understand him then. Mr. Brown was born a gambler. Gentle, sweet women have no challenge for him."
"Pinning down a little wildcat, training her, then pulling out her claws one by one - that's happiness."
...
As Angelina said, after the first half, there was a second half.
Thalia followed the address Angelina gave her. As soon as she arrived, she saw various luxury cars parked in the parking lot.
"Hello, do you have a reservation?"
"I'm looking for someone," Thalia was surprised when stopped. There was actually a place in Emerald City she couldn't enter?
Sure enough, the places big shots play aren't accessible to people like them.
"I'm sorry, we require reservations to enter."
Thalia was speechless.
She thought she had reached the top of Emerald City's upper class, but now it seemed she needed to reassess her status.
She hesitated, then called Angelina.
When Angelina heard she couldn't get in, she came out while still on the phone.
"They're on the tenth floor. Are you going to find William or coming with me?"
"You're not networking with him?"
Angelina looked at the time on her phone: "I'm not up to William's circle, and besides, that group drinks too hard. If I went in, I'd be risking my life."
Thalia was stunned: "So how's William's alcohol tolerance?"
Angelina went along with her question: "His tolerance is pretty good."
"If you're not on the tenth floor, where are you?"
Angelina linked arms with Thalia heading toward the elevator: "Want to know?"
"Can I know?" Thalia was very cautious. From the moment she stood at the door unable to enter, she knew there was another circle in Emerald City's upper class that was hard to access. No wonder Evelyn always said William wasn't as simple as he appeared on the surface.
